Her jaw dropped in shock, but it was easy to tell she was hiding a smile as she feigned offense. She had been about to retort when she was suddenly reminded of the time. ”Oh crap! We gotta go!” Jillian said, quickly getting to her feet. Looks like they were going to have another race back. ”Come on, I’ll get you an ice cream as a pity prize.” She teased with a small smirk before she dashed off.

From Jillian's reaction Myra thought she might be close to being late. That was no good! Myra couldn't conceive having her friend get in trouble because of her. What if Jillian got fired? “Nooo, you can't be late,” Myra cried, chasing after her. “Gogogogogo!”
Back into the bluish caves they went, blue walls flying past in all directions. They had to be careful; it would be easy to slam right into the rocks at one of the curves. Yet Jillian sped ahead, leaving Myra struggling to keep up. Of course one day of training wouldn't be enough for Myra's speed to catch up.

She didn’t have time to wait for Myra to keep up. She felt bad, but Myra knew how to get to the ice cream shop. ”I’ll see you there!” She called to her friend.
Within minutes she had made it through the Bailey. Jillian pushed herself harder and leaped onto the rooftops to save time. It was unlikely she would get fired. They were already looking for new people… Hmm…
The Marketplace was only a few rooftops away. A couple more leaps and she landed halfway up the steps leading right to the shop. Her hand rested against the door and she let herself fall inside. She looked to the clock. Two minutes to spare. Good. She’d have time to breathe.

“Okay,” replied the mage with a sigh. Well, it wasn't like she had to worry about getting there on time. In fact, she could go a a leisurely pace if she wanted, but instead Myra kept running. If she ran more often, she'd get faster. That was a simple truth, and thus she decided to try it out. Plus, the thought of a nice bar of sea-salt ice cream sounded amazing after a day of training.
Not much later, she arrived at the ice cream shop. The young woman leaned against the counter, out of breath. “That...was...a lot of...work,” she said in-between gasps for air. Still she smiled at Jill. “One sea-salt ice cream, please~”
It was starting to approach the hottest time of day, the time when an ice cream place like this would be flooded with customers. A line was already forming, and Myra moved a bit out of the way. “Are you gonna be able to handle this all by yourself?” Myra asked as the other worker left, her shift having ended.

Jillian’s eyes had been closed while she was catching her breath. They opened when she heard footsteps stop just short of her head. Her boss. She got to her feet and grinned innocently before getting right to work. Since they were shorthanded, he was picking up the slack. To be honest, it was pretty awkward working along side her boss.
”Coming right up!” Jillian said, giving a smile to Myra and turning around to fetch her ice cream. When she turned back around, her face fell a little bit. It was pretty hot out today, so of course it would be busy. ”My boss is working with me.” She told Myra as she handed over the ice cream. ”Someone quit a couple days ago, so it’s been pretty hectic even without all these people.”

Myra saw a mildly scary looking person standing in the back and waved at him with a grin. Then she turned back to Jillian and asked, “Well, do you need any help?” She shrugged. “I'm not doing anything else today and working with by best friend sounds super fun~ Not to mention that there's ice cream.”

Jillian’s boss overheard and jumped on the chance. “You’re hired. Come on back.” He said, waving her over.
Jillian looked at him oddly while she continued trading the ice cream for munny. He really must not like working this way. Funny. But that really didn’t matter. She was going to be working with Myra! Now work wouldn’t suck as much.
“Jill, you can run through things with her, right? I’m heading out.”
She nodded and grabbed another apron that was hanging on the side and tossed it to Myra. ”Put this on and tie your hair back.” Jillian instructed. ”It’s not that difficult. All the ice cream is the same price.”

“Yay!” she cried happily. Myra had a new job, and it would be for more than just the day. “Working with you is going to be awesome~” Myra sang as she tied on the apron and pulled her hair back into a ponytail.
She jumped over to a cash register, staring at it oddly. “Soo...how do I work this?”

It’ll definitely be much more interesting. She’d be more eager to go to work now. Things were turning around. It was nice. ”Cash register, right…!” She looked around for the little manual they had before.
”Weird…” She said, frowning. ”I can’t find the instructions.” Jillian shook her head. ”Doesn’t matter. All you have to do is press the picture of the ice cream people order. The price shows up here. When they pay you, press this button to open up the drawer and put the munny in. After you close the drawer, it will reset itself for a new order.”
With the lack of movement going on, the lines were starting to get longer. ”Ice cream is behind you, organized alphabetically with the picture on each door so they’re easy to find.” Jillian said, lifting a couple bars out and handing them out. ”That should be it.”

Myra grinned again. “Wow, that's easier than I expected,” she laughed. After Jillian's explanation, Myra was able to keep up with a bit less than half of the orders; of course Jillian was faster thanks to her experience.
Several hours of saying, “What can I get you? Here you go. Have a nice day!” later, the line seemed to have vanished except for the occasional customer. The sun was lower in the sky, and Radiant Garden was already getting cool.
“Wow, that was a lot of work,” Myra said as she stretched. “But it was fun since I got to be with you, bestie.” She smiled sweetly. Often, Myra was just like a cute little kid.

With the slow down of customers, Jillian finally took the chance to sit up on one of the freezers. She stretched and leaned back against the wall. ”You catch on fast. Most of the other new people get overwhelmed on their first days like this, even after being her for a couple weeks.” She sighed, looking up at the clock. Time to close up.
”It gets easier and annoying.” She told Myra, hopping off the freezer and closing the window to the shop and locking it. It was the same thing over and over again, hour after hour. ”But it’ll be less of a pain with you here.” She grinned.

“Well, I still think it's the best job ever,” Myra replied as Jillian closed up everything. “So...I guess it's time to head home? You have to take care of your siblings after all.” Myra's expression saddened; she didn't want to leave. Today had been a lot of fun, though, and now she was getting tired. She was already contemplating heading to bed.
They left the shop and Jillian locked the door. “Weeelll... good night Jillian. Thanks for the awesome day~” Indeed it was time to return to her house and comfy bed.

”Yea, it’s about time for mom to leave so I gotta head home.” She nodded.
Before leaving she reached out and gave Myra a hug. ”I’ll see you again soon! Night!”
