"You've had to make due as a thief, right?" Konaa maintained his casual position. "Makes sense that you're used to a bit of danger. I've not had to...but somehow I've become competent in the ways of swording."
He took a look at Malthus, calm and calculating. "You know what? I think you'll find what you're looking for. Even if you don't know what it is. We don't get a lot of chances to shoot for our dreams, we humans, and that's what makes us push all the harder."
He sat up, grinning. "You've got spirit to spare, and I think in the end, that's what matters the most."

"Some people are just naturals at things." Malthus murmured. "I'm sure you'll find something you're after as well, even if it isn't what you're looking for in the first place. Things just seem to turn out that way in the end, I think." He stood up, stretching. "I just have a feeling..." Burning Horizon reappeared in his hand. "....that we need to prepare for large amounts of change. Something entirely new... or maybe, just maybe, something ancient." He said, examining the Keyblade.

He tilted his head at Malthus' curious words.
"What do you mean? Sure, there's some weird stuff going on, but..." He paused, suddenly, remembering the shadowy creatures that had attacked them. "Oh...right. I think I understand...somehow."
He stood, looking once more at the Keyblade. "Can't shake that thing, huh?"

"Don't think I want to." Malthus chuckled. "It's an admittedly cool sword, I can make it appear and disappear at will, and I'm sure there's other things I can do with it that I haven't found out yet." Like whatever the heck that beam of light was... He tossed it up in the air, it spinning head over in, and then caught it by the handle as it came down. "I find it interesting that it seems to have a motif of Twilight Town. Who would design something like this?"

"Well, that's magic, ain't it? If it can just appear and disappear like that, I'd say it was made with magic. By who and for what I couldn't say, though."
He took a close look at it, the blade reminding him of the clock tower where he often sat. Whoever created this keyblade probably knew the world very well.
"Well, where did you find it? Or what were you doing when you got it?"

"I was... actually, I was fighting Seifer. Practicing, you see. We've got a deal where I'll do odd jobs for him and he pays me." Malthus explained. "In this case, it was a fight where he tried to hit me and I tried to block and dodge. He disarmed me, I didn't want to lose, and then it just appeared in my hands. Actually... I was trying to block without a weapon. Don't know what I was thinking." He paused, a thoughtful look crossing his face.
"Don't think I was thinking at all, actually. Just... feeling. After that, we called it a draw, and I came here."

Konaa listened, somewhat doubtfully.
"Going beyond your dumb idea to fight Seifer...You really just got a new weapon out of nowhere? I guess living on rooftops got you a lot of backup karma."
((Short. Running out of things to say XD))

"Heh, I suppose so." Malthus said, once more making the Keyblade vanish. "I think I'm just about done here, though. You actually helped me get some of the thinking done that I needed to get done. I'll be seeing you around, I think. Or... well, maybe. We'll see what happens." He looked at Konaa, a serious look on his face.
"If you don't see me again, I've likely gone somewhere outside of this town... found someplace else to go." He nodded. "But if we do see each other again, then it'll be a good moment, right?"

Malthus' sudden declaration that he was done in this town sort of surprised Konaa. Dude moved fast, to be certain. What was more surprising was the slight sadness he felt at knowing that he'd be gone. He'd never really considered it, but...Malthus was his friend, now. Their friendship had sort of snuck up on him, like a ninja.
"Yeah..."
He looked out at the glorious sunset once more. What lay beyond it? Turning back to Malthus, he had a surprisingly emotional look. Something like a mix of sadness and thoughtfulness.
"Even if we don't meet again, we have our memories, right? We won't...well, forget about each other, and we'll remember we talked here today, too."
He paused, embarrassed. He wasn't used to being that sentimental. Oh well, might as well go all the way.
"Before you go...wanna get some ice cream together?"

"..." In a way, Konaa had hit a soft spot. Malthus had spent a long time without any real friends, and even though they hadn't really talked or met all that much... in some sense, Konaa, to him, represented this whole town that he was going to leave somehow. It was just something about his attitude, or maybe just the normality of it all.
"...Yeah. That would be nice." Malthus said, agreeing. "One for the road... wherever that road may be, and wherever that road may take me."
[End]
