Suncatcher stood there and then retrieved her other arrows as Jaci handed them back to her, putting them into her quiver. She shrugged calmly as she stood there, listening to Jaci. She didn't often hear such a name as hers. She smiled lightly and then pointed towards the sky, through the trees to the sun and then made a motion as if she were about to catch something. Then pointed towards herself and repeated the motion. She was trying to tell Jaci her name; she just hoped she understood. It was like a little game of she-rads.

Yea, Jaci's name was different. It had been her father's idea to name her like that. She always felt a little awkward that she hadn't been named traditionally like everyone else had, but she felt it was still a pretty name. It sort of fit her...
Suncatcher's silence made Jaci a little nervous. She had opened her mouth to apologize again until the girl started making all sorts of gestures. Jaci looked confused for a few seconds until she began to register what was happening. "Oh! Sun...catcher?" She sounded unsure, and waited for confirmation on the guess.

The girl nodded quickly, confirming that Suncatcher was indeed her name. She smiled lightly again. Usually when she introduced herself others didn't really get it at first. It took a few more tries to get them to understand, sometimes she even just ended up drawing a sun in dirt and letting them just call her that. It was hard drawing something to symbolize "catcher". She bit her lip shyly, not sure what else to say.. it was times like this that she was more at a loss for words.

"Really? Neat! Nice to meet you Suncatcher!" Jaci exclaimed, a smile on her face. "My name means moon." How interesting it was to find someone with a name opposite to hers. Well, kinda. Jaci didn't have the 'catcher' part, but it was close enough for her to be pretty excited by the small coincidence. She frowned suddenly and tilted her head the slightest bit, seeming concerned. "Can't you talk?" She asked.

Sun smiled, interested that her name meant moon. The sun was meeting the moon, such a coincidence. She then shook her head shyly as Jaci asked if she could talk. Though, others did not know if she just choose not to or couldn't at all. From what others knew she hadn't spoken at all to anyone, in her entire life. Not even her own mother. Her brothers teased her about it all the time. She bit her lip again, not sure what to say. It was hard when one could not talk and the ground of the forest wasn't exactly the perfect place to write.

"Hmm...." She mused, tapping her forefinger against her lip as she thought. It was going to be hard to talk this way. Jaci had been lucky enough to catch Sun's name, but communication would be near impossible with just hand gestures. It must be frustrating for her.
"Aha! Follow me." She said, gesturing towards Suncatcher. The beach wasn't too far away from here. About a ten minute walk. Hopefully Suncatcher could write. If not, Jaci was out of ideas.

Sun looked at Jaci as she gestured her to follow her. She followed behind her, wondering what Jaci was up to. Maybe, she had a solution as to how Suncatcher could speak to Jaci. She wanted to talk to her but just didn't know any effective way of doing so. Shyly she followed behind Jaci, wondering where she was going. She then realized that they were heading towards the beach.
She bit her lip slightly, thinking. She then ran up to Jaci some and grabbed her arm. She wanted to show her something. And, hopefully she could find it. She hadn't told anyone about what she had found a while back, one reason of which was because she didn't have many friends. She then pointed in the general direction of where she wanted to go. Hopefully she remembered where it was and wouldn't get lost.

Jaci looked to Suncatcher with a confused expression on her face. When she began to point, Jaci thought the girl might be scared of something. Her muscles tensed slightly in preparation for defense, but relaxed again when she realized nothing was there. "You wanna go that way?" Jaci asked, sounding a little unsure. She had been planning to take Suncatcher to the beach so she'd be able to write in the sand. Plus, it was such a pretty and peaceful place. It'd be nice to relax there.
She had no idea what was in the place Suncatcher wanted to go to, but she nodded anyways and began to move in that direction. Suncatcher had proved herself to be a pretty smart girl, being able to hit Jaci when she was hiding in the tree. Though, it could have been just sheer luck... Ah well.

Sun racked her brain for the way she had come last time as she stepped forward, letting go of Jaci's arm now as she led her through the forest. She was sure it wasn't far from the beach. It was a small grotto, but she had seen something there that she felt she wanted to share with Jaci. She was kind to Sun and seemed to be patient with her muteness. Her mother had always been that was why she loved her so much and was willing to show Jaci this place. She had only seen it once and it hadn't been that great of an experience. But yet, when she had first stumbled upon it it had been magical.
She walked through the forest, acting as if she knew where she was going as she tried to remember where it was. She was heading towards the general direction of the beach, but to the left side of it some more.

They were beginning to cross into some unfamiliar territory. Jaci had been all over the place, but she rarely ventured outside the forest, and for some reason, she didn't ever remember making it out this far. She'd be able to find her way back no problem, she still knew which direction the beach was in, and if she could get there, she'd be able to make her way back home. They seemed to be still heading towards the direction of the beach, but a little further off. Suncatcher seemed to be a little bit lost in her movement, but it wouldn't be an issue. Jaci was paying attention to where they were going so they wouldn't get lost. "It's not that far away, is it?" She asked, not that she was being impatient. She just wanted to have an idea of how far they were going.

She continued forward, still trying to remember the way. She was sure it was this way. She didn't want to feel stupid or something if she somehow managed to get them lost and not find where she was trying to go. But, she tried to continue on in confidence. If she did, there would be hope that she would be able to find this place. She shook her head, saying to Jaci that it wasn't far, well she thought it wasn't. She lightly bit her lip, hoping Jaci didn't notice.
Sun reached the end of the forest and before them was a small cliff/hill. She smiled and then grabbed Jaci's arm again leading her around the cliff. She knew now that it wasn't much further just around the cliff and they'd be there. And she'd be able to show Jaci the mermaids!

Suncatcher's excitement must mean that they were close. Jaci smiled, suddenly becoming excited herself. She had no idea what was going to be behind the cliff, but if Sun was so excited, it had to be pretty amazing. Jaci quickened her pace, eager to see what Sun wanted to show her. She hoped there would be sand. They weren't really far from the beach, so it wouldn't be completely unlikely. Right?

They had indeed found sand. Sand surrounded the cliff, heck even the cliff was made of sand. Sun began to guide her new found companion around the cliff, there was a small area for them to walk but the rest was surrounded with water. They were near the water/beach alright. Slowly a small lagoon came into view, a few rocks sticking out of the water for things to sit on.
As the lagoon came into view, Sun frowned slightly. Were they not here? Were they just hiding? She looked towards Jaci.

A small gasp passed Jaci's lips as she took in the scenery of the lagoon. She didn't know this place had existed. And it was so close to an area she frequented... How had she never discovered it herself? And there was sand! Perfect! She turned to Suncatcher with a smile on her face, but looked confused when she saw her friend was frowning. "What's wrong?" She asked.
It was so pretty. Jaci didn't understand why Suncatcher looked upset.

She frowned slightly still, biting her lip again. She had a habit of biting her lip whenever she was frustrated or thinking. She looked at Jaci for awhile and then looked back towards the lagoon. She didn't know what to say or do. She looked down at the sand and then flattened the sound out with her hands as she knelled down. She began to draw something in the sand. It looked like a fish with half a human body. She wasn't that good at drawing but hoped she got her point across.
She was afraid that Jaci wouldn't believe her. With the mermaids not being here and all. But, she had seen them last time.
