Oh man.
Oh man oh man oh man.
Lakey shook his head in a vain effort to shake the willy-nilly out of his rightfully frightened head.
This was the day.
C'mon, he told himself. I can do this, I can shine.
Absolute poop, of course. I mean, look around!
Everyone looked to be a pro. Aaaaaand then some.
No one here was half as green as Lakey.
Lakey nervously leaned back a bit, on the balls of his heel.
This was the greatest day there was, or the worst.
He knew that before he walked up to the starting line.
But still, lookit all the runners out here!
Lakey was pretty floored by all the runners out and about today. Left and right, there had to be... like, seven others.
This was gonna be the race of the lifetime. Or something.
Today, some big wig had organized a runner race to the Coliseum. The winner would get a real shot at being the big wig's personal courier or something.
Because the guy could only accept the fastest of the fast, or something.
Okay, so... Lakey had to do some serious bartering with the guy doing sign ups. Not a surprise-- he was only twelve! The big issue was the package.
Eight racers, one package.
You had to grab the package from the moving wagon waaaaaay up ahead. And if you couldn't beat the wagon to the mountaintop, you were outright disqualified.
Lakey started muttering an old good luck phrase.
Three!
This, uh...
Two!
This probably wasn't gonna end well.
One!
Lakey leaned down...
Go!
And sprinted.

Why was she doing this again? Its not as if she needed to work for some big wig at the coliseum.
Thebes had plenty of work to go around for all the couriers across Greece.
Well, at least she was pretty sure that the amount of work around here was that vast.
Eleanor sighed, learning down as the count finally started.
Three!
She didn’t need to win this race after all.
Two!
It wouldn’t be hard to let one of the other runners here past her at the end.
One!
She probably wouldn’t beat everyone else anyway.
Go!
Pushing the count down thoughts aside; she pushed off from her starting position and sprinted on with the others.[avatar]http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/1562/eleanoravatar.png[/avatar]
