'HE LEFT AND DIDN'T OFFER TO GET ME OUT OF HERE?! THAT BASTARD!' had been Seifer's first thought when he found out that the reason Malthus had suddenly disappeared was that he had shipped himself off world. He was, to put it lightly, annoyed; he helped the guy get his key... whatever, the kid goes and makes some kind of energy beam fire into the sky, and then ships himself off-world? And Fuu and Rai were still mysteriously missing? GRAH.
"Heheh, Seifer's not so tough without his posse to boss us around, is he?" He overheard from one of the other town kids. Troublemaker, who earned himself an angry look from the passing kid. His reaction called to mind him being smacked on the head with a blunt object when he noticed Seifer behind him.
"I heard that! You want me to prove you wrong, keep talking," Seifer taunted, standing cross-armed and looking so much like a giant, even though he was only a head taller than the other. Regardless, the kid didn't want to actually confront the ever-infamous Seifer Almasy, especially since it was fairly apparent he was mad about something. "Yeah, s'what I thought," He growled, forging on and sticking his hands in his pockets. Tch... This was embarrassing; he went out on a limb for that guy to get him to quit being a delinquent, and three days later he goes and ships himself off world. And without even giving a thank-you! Pfft! Malthus'd get a good smack to the head as soon as Seifer saw him again, at least. If he saw him again, that was; Seifer himself was heading off as soon as he had the munny needed to buy one of those 'Gummi ship' things. So wrapped up in his thoughts was Seifer, he didn't notice a person also sharing the sidewalk until he ran straight into them.
"'scuse me, wasn't watching where I was going," He apologized. Most people didn't see Seifer as the type to do such, but he did it more often than his reputation suggested. If he did something wrong and he was aware of it, he would apologize for it. He'd hate doing it, but he would.

[ Holiday's are coming up, and I've got far too many free hours in me-- I'm rusty as rusty gets, but if you don't hold it against me, I'll gladly jump in here! ]
...well, they could think what they want-- WHUMP.
What-- shot a dazed thought through Nanette's mind, dragging her senses back into the world around her.
And then pain, in the posterior to boot. Nanette's lip curled at the sudden landing, flinching at the unexpected pain.
Her half-open eyes turned upwards, and found local police dog wannabe Seifer half-muttering an apology.
Nanette sighed, still appreciating her new bruise. Nanette hadn't exactly formally introduced herself to Seifer, but word of mouth and occasional Struggle poster had given her enough to recognize the boy on sight.
Well. Make the best of it, she supposed.
The girl raised her open palm to Seifer-- an open invitation to help her up off the ground.
"Seifer, right?"

[Who you callin' a wannabe?]
Seifer would have been content to just keep on walking when the other kid inevitably sprang up and started whining about how 'You should watch where you're going, blah blah blah, stupid insults, blah blah, empty threat, and more blah' like usual. Except this wasn't like usual, and the girl stuck out a hand for help up. Well, he HAD run into her pretty hard, so she might've hurt something when she fell. Besides, what kind of hero would just leave someone he knocked over sitting on their rear for no reason? Well, okay, some of those storybook and radio show jerks did that, but he wasn't >quite< that heartless. So he grabbed her hand and pulled her up. She looked vaguely familiar from somewhere, but he couldn't quite place it. School, probably.
"Pretty sure no other kid around here has my scar, so you've go the right guy. Seifer Almasy, that'd be me," Seifer answered when she asked if he was indeed Seifer. Besides, a couple of times some people had posed him for a poster photo to advertise the Struggle for a bit of extra cash, so he didn't mind doing it. Except they somehow managed to miss his scar so it didn't quite look right. But hey, free munny. "You all right, kid? Nothing broken or anything?"

He'd looked, and hadn't seen. Pretty obvious Malthus was gone.
It was funny. They'd met twice, and the first time Konaa had been more than a little weirded out by the guy, due to him being an obvious thief and a little too handy with a knife for comfort. Yet, there had to have been some sort of connection to them- their second meeting showed that.
Both of them had confided in the other. And they'd reached an understanding of sorts by the end...That they weren't all that different, despite their personalities. He knew Malthus was going to leave...but he wasn't expecting to miss him.
He was preoccupied that day as he walked down the sidewalk, so preoccupied that he didn't notice Seifer Almasy's distinctive beanie until he was only a few feet away. He froze. Oh geez, no. Not him. They had only met once, during which he'd received a drubbing for skipping school, and since then he'd learned to avoid him. He knew him by reputation too, of course.
Konaa had no desire to be reacquainted. He started to step back.

[ You. I'm callin' you a wannabe! >XD ]
"No," Nanette said, pulling down on Seifer's hand as she got up onto her feet, "there is another kid with a scar like yours. You haven't seen the billy goat down the street?"
Nanette let a small grin open up to that retort. She hadn't meant to say it, but it really wasn't all that bad a comeback, was it? Another fifty munny to the retort jar, though. And she'd had plans for that 50 munny.
She frowned at that. Her eyelids didn't move much, though, parked as they were at a sleepy half-open.
"I'm sore," she replied with a nod, "but I'm fine. Do people--" often break bones when they run into you, or do you ask everyone that?
She shook her head. "...never mind."
[ Ah, um...! Not sure how to drag Konaa's unwilling butt into this. *whacks Crazy* TAG, you're it! ]

"Yeah, you're hilarious," Seifer replied, his voice dripping with sarcasm. Why was everyone here an idiot or a delinquent? Why didn't he have the good fortune to end up somewhere he wouldn't be bothered with random idiots? And, more importantly, why was he asking YOU these questions? You will never know, and it will never again be mentioned.
"You look familiar from somewhere; I know you, kid?" Seifer asked, catching sight of that skipper from about half a year ago. Needless to say, the kid had avoided being in his line of sight since then. Which was probably a good thing, one less annoying idiot to deal with in his day-to-day life. "What's your problem, kid; can't walk straight today or something?" He directed at Konaa, looking fairly unimpressed at his attempt at withdrawing stealthily. What the hell; was everyone stuck in their brains today or what?

((Oh christ in a dirty diaper I am so sorry about the delay guys.))
Well, shit. He was spotted. And he had a smartass comment about his escape plan too. Great. Why was everything going against him these days?
Yet, his tone sparked a rare burst of anger in him, and a not so rare burst of annoyance. There was something, okay, SEVERAL things that could go wrong in smartmouthing the local knight templar, but he was feeling reckless.
"At least I don't swagger like I've got a fish stuck in my pants. Do you know how ridiculous you look sometimes? No, I doubt you do, otherwise you'd take that beanie off."

[S'okay. Christmas time is Christmas time. ^^]
Nanette looked to the newcomer.
Looked to Seifer.
And punched the wannabe in the shoulder.
"Buuuuurn." She said, relishing the relaxing change of pace from the mental furor her mind'd been in a moment before.

"If I was wearin' a hat to look cool, I'd have something a lot cooler, knucklehead; I happen to like my hat," Seifer replied, not seeming at all concerned with the 'swagger' thing. What the hell? Where was everybody picking up all these weird words from? He also didn't seem to care about the punch to the shoulder, but both the girl and the guy got a bop on the head for their stupidity. "What kind of word is 'Swagger' anyways?! Nobody talks like that any more! Get with the program, kid!"

Rubbing his head where the older teen had bopped him, Konaa adopted his most sardonic expression, the kind he saved for the particularly stupid teachers and for policemen.
"Just because you stopped paying attention after third grade doesn't mean the rest of us did. What kind of word is it? It's a goddamn word, that's what kind."
Crossing his arms, he glared at Seifer. He was really starting to get ticked off. "What, have you extended your unwelcome policing to vocabulary control? God forbid, we'll all be talking like we quit school five minutes in soon enough."

"If you bothered to show up, you'd know I'm sixth out of the whole school," Seifer retorted, not looking too impressed. "If you're going to use slang, use some stuff that's up to date instead of making yourself look like a loser. You can go now, 'cause I'm sure there are better things to do with your time than bother me."
((Sorry Rocket, I got impatient >.>))

[ I FORGOT I'M SORRY ]
Nanette squinted.
Her mind worked through about ten quick possibilities, none of them very nice.
Maybe Seifer had killed Konaa's dog, or something?
Maybe Konaa had lost to Seifer at Struggle?
Maybe they were fraternal twins? This seemed most likely, given how angry they were at each other...
"Okay, um," Nanette interrupted Seifer, "I don't know who shot who's dog, but I will say I'm still short a name here."
Nanette looked sidelong at Konaa. "I'm Nanette," she started.

"Well, you're certainly wrong about that. There's nothing really worth doing around here besides napping, anyway. I think I might go do that, try to forget I ever had to talk to you."
He was about to turn and leave, before Nanette spoke up. He gave her his attention for possibly the first time, curiously observing her. Another of these weirdly friendly girls! He had been meeting so many of them.
"It's Konaa. Nice to meet you, I guess."

"If it's so dull around here, then leave. Save me the annoyance of having to deal with you," Seifer replied, not missing a beat. Why did every two-bit punk in this town think he was all talk? Surely his high placing in the Struggle for the past few years said something, especially given some of the more unsavory types were prone to cheating and using real weapons.

Nanette shook her head at Seifer's words, forcing her out of whatever conversation may have started with Konaa.
"Boys, boys..." the girl said with a disappointed look in her eyes, raising her hand to her chin so as to muse, "there are better ways to resolve fights than barking like dogs."
Nanette nodded. She liked that analogy.
"You could..." she shrugged, "...have a Struggle match. Race each other to the station. Oh!"
Nanette brought her hand down, patting it as a fist against her other open hand.
Now there was an idea.
"Now here's an idea..." Nanette smiled earnestly.
"Let's all go to the beach."
[ Well, the thread was going nowhere fast... ]
