[avatar]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v654/KatsumiX/blueblueglassmoonavatar-1.jpg[/avatar] Suncatcher had recently met a new friend from another tribe and was happy to have met her. She had even told her mother about her, her mother just smiled, happy for her. She had told her friend that she would see her tomorrow and they had agreed to meet today. Jaci was to teach Sun how to really use a bow. She was so excited; not just how to use a real bow but just to hang out with her new friend.
She left the reservation early; bringing with her, her toy bow and arrows. She had tried to get a hold of a real one but hadn't had the chance. If she had stolen one she wouldn't returned it but frankly she wasn't much of one to steal, even if she was just borrowing. And she couldn't ask her mother or brothers. She walked through the forest towards the meeting spot she had explained to Jaci about. Hopefully she could find it. It was a small clearing the forest, in the center where the sun shined there were flowers growing.
A few minutes of walking and she came to the small clearing. She set her things against a tree and then sat in the middle of the clearing, flowers surrounding her. She closed her eyes and let the sun seep into her pores. She sat there quietly, still. Unmoving, almost as if she were meditating or praying.

Jaci had arrived not too long after Suncatcher had. She was traveling via tree again, so her friend would be alerted to her presence from the careless rustling. It was basically her signature, and a bad one to have at that. Ah well, she had plenty of time to practice on fixing that. For now, she was going to teach Sun how to use a real bow.
Like her friend, Jaci had also been unable to procure a real bow. Her own would do for now. Eventually she’d like to be able to get one for her friend to use. That toy really wouldn’t provide much protection for her, and she needed it since she left the reservation often.
Jaci burst out from the top of a tree and landed in a crouch a couple of feet away from her friend. ”Hey Sun~!” Jaci said, with a smile on her face. Today was going to be fun. ”You ready to get started?” [/blockquote]

Suncatcher heard her friend coming before she jumped down from the tree she had been in. Sun heard the rustling from the trees that Jaci jumped to and fro from. Her way of traveling wasn't all that quiet, but perhaps she was trying to get some practice out of it. Sun hadn't really traveled by tree before; though she thought to try it sometimes. She would have to ask Jaci about that. But, for now she wanted to learn how to use a real bow. Sure, she had touched some before but hadn't really used one.
She sat still in the clearing, her eyes still closed. She sat calmly as her friend approached, she didn't even really flinch as her friend crouched a few feet away from her. Then asked her if she was ready. After Jaci talked, she still remained still. She then opened her eyes slowly, her eyes were really light compared to the other Indians. Even her mother had brown eyes. She looked over at her friend who had just arrived, she nodded and smiled. Telling her that she was ready. She stood up, effortlessly.

”Alright, perfect!” Jaci said and clapped her hands together loudly. She got up to fetch Sun’s bow and arrows and gave them to her friend. ”First let’s see your stance. Nock the arrow and prepare to shoot and hold that position.” She instructed. Jaci smiled to herself a little. She sounded so knowledgeable already, even though she was completely self-taught. A lot of the tips she was going to share with Suncatcher she learned from her brothers. Now, they didn’t teach her them, she had spied on them to figure everything out. Sneaky girl, she was. Very sneaky…

Suncatcher remained where she was for a moment as her friend kindly fetched Sun's bow and arrows for her. Though, it wasn't really that far. She took her weapons and then stood with her legs apart some, one in front of her some the other behind her. Level with each other. She then took an arrow and strung it into her bow, then pulled the string on her bow some raising her arms up. It wasn't a perfect stance, but it was a stance never the less.

Jaci held her hand to her chin as she circled Suncatcher. ”Hmmm….” She mused, studying how her friend stood. There were a couple of things that she could improve on. Knowing the proper stance was difficult, it wasn’t something you could always mimic by just watching people. Jaci’s brother had helped her improve her stance. ”Move your foot a little, your feet should be the same distance apart as your shoulders.” She instructed, while continuing to circle Sun.
Jaci walked closer and reached over to lower Sun’s arm. ”It’s raised too much here. Just a little bit lower. And your hand should be closer to your jaw, like this.” Jaci took out her bow and nocked an arrow to show Sun what she was talking about, the only difference being that the drawstring needed to pulled a little bit more so it was nearly touching her nose.

Sun adjusted her feet to match the distance apart of her shoulders, looking at her feet to make sure they right. She then mimicked Jaci as she knocked an arrow, moving her hand closer to her jaw. Lowering her arm as her friend instructed her to. It felt a bit weird but she had been used to the stance she had been in; but it didn't feel that all different. She smiled over at Jaci, asking if this was good.

”Perfect, perfect!” Jaci said, nodding approvingly. What next, what next? She chewed on her bottom lip as she thought of what else she could suggest. Sun’s stance was now improved, so that would help significantly. ”Hmm…”
”Here, take this.” She said, handing Sun one of her arrows to shoot instead of one of the toys. Jaci nocked her bow again with another arrow and took her stance. ”See that knot in the trunk of that tree right there?” She asked. ”I want you to aim for that and shoot when you’re ready.” Hopefully using a proper arrow wouldn’t be too uncomfortable. With the improved stance, it should be much easier. [/blockquote]

Sun smiled ever brighter at Jaci's approval. She then took the arrow that Jaci handed to her. It was a little heavier and longer as well. But if she wanted to be a real hunter, a real archer then she would have to use these kinds of arrows. She mimicked Jaci again making sure to match how she nocked her bow and took the stance that Jaci had shown her only a little bit ago. She then looked towards the tree with the knot in it. She raised her bow, pointing her arrow towards the middle of the knot. She made sure she was aiming right and then let go.

Sun really didn't need that much coaching. She learned quickly, a lot quicker than Jaci had herself. If she wasn't so happy with how well the training session was going, Jaci would probably be jealous at how easily her new friend was catching on.
FWIP! THUNK! The arrow stuck below the dead center of the knot. "Awesome!" Jaci said, beginning to clap again. "That was probably a little awkward, but as long as you remember the stance it'll get easier the more you practice."
"Oh! And when you release, make sure you always keep absolutely still for a couple seconds, otherwise the arrow could be interrupted and go a little off course." Now, what else? A couple more moments passed before she realized that there was nothing else she could suggest. "I think that's it. All you gotta do is remember to practice in the stance I showed you and you'll do great." Jaci walked towards the tree and removed her arrow from the tree. She turned suddenly and looked back to her friend. "Oh! You wanna practice with some more arrows?" [/blockquote]
