‘There’s no way you can hang upside down in that tree for an hour!’ was the challenge.
‘I can do it! Watch!’ Was the accepting of said challenge. Roughly ten minutes or so ago (By his mumbled counting), Riku had wagered that Sora couldn’t hang upside down from the tree on the mini-island they often had their mock fights on for an hour. Not being one to back down from a challenge, Sora had immediately said he could, and climbed into the tree. And that was where he was now; hanging by his legs upside-down, and fidgeting. He couldn’t really remember what they had been talking about before Riku’s challenge; something about climbing trees. He wasn’t having much of a problem staying upside down, but… an hour was so long when you were used to doing more fun things like running around. This was so boring! Sora crossed his arms and frowned, glaring at some mental image of what boredom must have physically looked like. Boredom’s physical appearance; A spikey-haired brunette boy hanging upside down from a tree while his friends were playing elsewhere. And then he realized how stupid he must have looked. And then someone shouted his name from right behind him.
“SORA!” Came the voice of Tidus. Sora jumped in surprise, making a sound very similar to ’ACK’ and ending up landing face-first in beach sand. Ouch… just… ouch. Sora picked himself up and spat out the sand he’d happened to get in his mouth, falling back over again from the blood rushing out of his head for his extended period of hanging upside down. Sudden onslaught of dizziness gone, Sora stood up once more and brushed the sand off himself.
“Hey, Tidus!” Sora greeted his friend, grinning at him like he hadn’t just fallen face-first from a tree branch. He’d actually been close to falling anyways, if just so he could get off the tree and move some. Riku was right; there WAS no way he could hang upside down from that tree for an hour. That was just so BORING; he felt like he’d been hanging there for HOURS. The last time he’d sat so still was when he went to the dentist’s office. Oh well, Riku had been right this time around, but that was no big deal; he’d have plenty of other chances to beat Riku at stuff and have fun doing it. But hanging in the tree hadn’t been much fun; it was mostly a lot of boring. Oh yeah, and he thought a bird had landed on his foot at one point, which was kind of cool, but not that amazing. He could still brag to Riku about that, though! “What’s up?”
“Race you to the other side of the island!” Tidus challenged, grinning confidently. Sora returned the grin.
“Okay, you’re on!” Sora replied, and both boys took off running. It didn’t really matter who won; just so long as they were both having fun! Plus, their race would speed up finding the rest of his friends to continue their various games and dares. Yep, this would be a fun day now that the tree-hanging was over. He was NOT doing that again.
