Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, it's the fantastic, amazing, stupendous, Canon Factions!
It is my distinct honor to be the one to proudly introduce and give you guys the full lowdown on the new Factions system we've been cooking up for the past week or so! We've put a lotta elbow grease into this addition to Dream Sequence, and I think you guys'll love the result! ^^
First and foremost, what they are! Canon Factions are groups on certain worlds that work for a purpose. As the name suggests, these groups are based solely on canonical groups. These factions-- and their homeworlds, and their Leaders-- are as follows:
Yes, yes, the Builder's Union doesn't seem to be much in the way of canonical. No worries-- they take their inspiration from Kingdom Hearts II's Radiant Garden Restoration Committee.
How They Work
Why join?
How do I sign up?
Okay, what's the catch?
Now, for those quick clarifications on the rules...
As always, comments, suggestions, opinions, are more than welcome regarding the addition and clarifications! ^^
Thank you all, it's been a lovely news post! (I'll be here all week...)
The Disney Knights | Disney Castle | Captain of the Guard Goofy
Builder's Union | Traverse Town | Tifa Lockheart
The Forty Thieves | Agrabah | Kaseem, King of Thieves
The Imperial Army | The Land of Dragons | General Lee Shang
Builder's Union | Traverse Town | Tifa Lockheart
The Forty Thieves | Agrabah | Kaseem, King of Thieves
The Imperial Army | The Land of Dragons | General Lee Shang
Yes, yes, the Builder's Union doesn't seem to be much in the way of canonical. No worries-- they take their inspiration from Kingdom Hearts II's Radiant Garden Restoration Committee.
How They Work
Canon Factions are organizations-- they have their Leaders, and their Senior Officers, and so on. For example, the Disney Knights are lead by Captain of the Guard Goofy. These Canons-- leaders of each respective Canon Faction-- will have their auditions more rigorously judged. Leaders are expected to be actual Leaders: organize the group, participate in Quests and work with QMs to make new ones in the Job Board (see below), and be the driving force behind each faction's yearly event.
Characters in a faction can only be in one faction at a time-- this means you can't have your character in Agrabah join the Builder's Union or do any of their Quests if they're already in the Forty Thieves. Not that an Agrabah character would do that though... Locked World and all that.
Each Canon Faction also has the privilege of creating, organizing, and running a once a year Event-- a full blown Event, open to all eligible characters (as opposed to only members of the faction), with prizes if they so choose, enemies, you name it. Canon Leaders will be working closely with Staff to work out any kinks, make sure nothing conflicts with the Anomaly plot, and approve of prizes and the like.
To top it off, at the end of the year, a poll is opened to all site members: which Canon Faction had the best event of the year? The winning faction will receive an impressive prize... one that changes every year, and is more than worth the time and energy put into an Event.
Why join?
Each Canon Faction has their own Job Board in their private board-- a slew of Quests open only to characters in the faction. These Faction-Only Quests tend to have rewards you won't find under normal conditions, and raise your character's Faction Rank. This Faction Rank determines what Faction-Only Quests you can take, and how great your bonus is.
Speaking of bonus, each Canon Faction has a pretty darn spiffy bonus for being a member-- the Forty Thieves, for example, allows members a once-a-month five finger discount on certain items in the Shop. What item you can take depends on your Faction Rank-- first Rank would get you a very paltry item, while being at the top-- fifth Rank-- could get you a veeery impressive addition to your inventory.
Not to mention the Canon Faction Events again! There's no denying how much fun it'd be to be a part of the force behind an Event, or being able to walk away with the pride that your faction was the best of the best this year! And the prize doesn't hurt, either.
How do I sign up?
Each Canon Faction has an Initiation Quest currently in their homeworld. Some Initiations are more difficult than others. For example, the Builder's Union is in desperate need for volunteers, and their Initiation consists... of a sign up sheet and a free ride to Traverse Town. On the other hand, the Forty Thieves are a group of scoundrels who don't want any law-abiding folk to find their hidey hole, much less join! Their Initiation Quest is more rigorous, and takes a longer period of time to complete. These Initiation Quests can take on one or two characters per Quest, and depending on the Quest Master you have, maybe three. Ask politely, and don't be surprised if it's not an option at the time. ^^;
However, owning a Canon Faction's Leader grants you instant membership to the faction, and places you as the faction's leader. If you decide to drop the Leader, you also drop the membership. Be careful about that.
Okay, what's the catch?
Well, like I said, each Canon Faction is an organization. And, as in organizations, you can and will be forcibly kicked out from a faction if you can't keep up with each Canon Faction's obligations. For example, if you haven't done a Quest for the Builder's Union in the longest of times, then they can drop you for lack of work. Or, in the Imperial Army, you can be kicked out for disobeying a superior officer without due cause. Obviously, if you have to go on sick leave, be sure to send a polite PM to your faction's Leader so that nothing happens. xD
However, these kinda drawbacks are all "duh"s. They're the kinda thing you expect walking into any kind of group, so when all's been said and done, they're mainly written down for posterity rather than a drawback.
In addition, member created factions will not be allowed at this time. I'm not saying you can't get get with some buddies and make a group! xD No, I'm just saying we won't give you a board, special bonus, yearly event, etc. Any groups you decide to create would be "unofficial"-- not recognized in the same manner these are.

Now, for those quick clarifications on the rules...
First off, unlike an ability's uses, health should not recover between battles within the same thread. What this means is, within the same thread, you can have multiple battles, right? And between battles, your abilities' cooldowns and uses recharge, right? Your HP shouldn't-- that's something that starts at max at the beginning of a roleplay, and within that roleplay, can only be increased by way of spells or items.
Second and finally on the list, during Quests, uses and cooldowns for abilities do not, under normal conditions, immediately recharge following a battle. So in Quests, your abilities act the same way health does in a normal thread.
As always, comments, suggestions, opinions, are more than welcome regarding the addition and clarifications! ^^
Thank you all, it's been a lovely news post! (I'll be here all week...)
