Appearance:
This guy. ... With pants.
Personality:•General Persona:
Perhaps the most basic way to put things would be to say that Scotty’s an all-around nice guy. People like him for it, and he’s perfectly fine with that. In his eyes, what’s so bad about people liking him because he’s a decent person, unlike some of the other less-than-pleasant people out there? But he’ll be the first one to admit that he has his days where he really has to work to get people on his side. Nice can only get him so far. What really sets Scotty apart from most ‘nice’ people is that he keeps it up almost all the time. Even when he just wants to tell someone to go die in a hole somewhere, he refrains from saying so. No, he will just have a nice, pleasant conversation with them and hope that they have something important enough to make them leave. Because really, as far as Scotty is concerned, that’s life. People are going to be annoying, and chances are, you’re going to want them to just leave you the hell alone. But being rude about it certainly doesn’t help things. He feels that he’d be much better off doing something proactive with his life, such as acting like an idiot to keep everybody in a good mood. Scotty’s always doing things like, simply because he likes making those around him happy. Even if he is in an awful mood, he knows that, as long as those around him are having a good time, his mood will improve. He knows that he would have to either be really, really dumb, or really, really gullible to think that acting like an jerk to people will really do anything good for anybody involved. Sure, he might be a pain in the behind at times, but people can definitely count on him to be nice to them. Scotty’s also really big on the whole being polite and chivalrous thing, despite his rather young age. Yes, it slips on occasion when he’s around his friends, and other people that realize that he’s only being rude to get a few laughs, because they know who he is. He doesn’t need to worry about making them realize just how great a kid he is. But, as weird as it is, Scotty is actually that guy (squirrel) who will open doors for people, pull out chairs for his friends, and who will stop and help some kid pick up his stuff, if he’s dropped them. In all honesty, as far as he’s concerned, doing so should just be a natural, automatic thing. Yes, he knows that it takes a bit more effort to help people all the time, but he just really doesn’t get why people don’t just help people at least every once in a while. It’s just one thing that he really cannot comprehend. His motto is, 'while it takes more effort to be nice, but you certainly won’t get in crap for it.'
As nice as he is, there’s no overlooking the fact that Scotty’s… well, Scotty’s a weird guy. He seems to always think that he’s just a bit too different from everybody else to truly fit in. And seeing as how resides in a world full of anthropomorphic animals, that’s certainly saying something. People don’t realize it at all, as he hides his – for lack of a better word – insecurity well, but most people don’t catch the weird looks that people give him sometimes. Even his friends do it, giving him that look that pretty much says they have no idea what the heck he’s talking about, but they’ll still smile and nod because they’re his friends. What really gets to him is that they even give them the face when he’s saying things that make perfect sense to him, but that just don’t come out right. Sure, he thinks it’s fun sometimes, being that ‘weird friend’ that exists in every group, so he can’t act like it’s all bad. The truth is, it isn’t. He has a tendency to think up things that most people would never really come up with, which seems to make them think he’s absolutely hilarious. Even though he isn’t really trying to be funny most of the time, people just seem to think that he’s the funniest squirrel around. But perhaps that right there is the catch. Sure, it’s nice having people say that he’s ‘so funny’ and ‘creative’, he’s still never really on the same page as them. And he can’t help but wonder, if nobody is actually on the same page as him, can he really be all that close with people? Sure, that makes him sound all paranoid and insecure, but the fact of the matter is, it’s true. He worries – in his head, of course, as he’d never actually say it to people – he worries whether people like him for who he is, or whether they’re just friends with him because they feel bad for the weird kid. Sure, he does weird things, such as running around throwing magic which way, even when he doesn’t have to, simply because it makes him look cool, or preparing for the looming zombie invasion. He realizes that, should the zombie apocalypse ever actually happen – which he’s convinced it will, of course – people will be thanking him, but in the meantime, he’s just weird, quirky Scotty, who people really might not want to hang out with. Which is certainly reasonable. He’s a weird guy.
Anybody who says that Scotty doesn’t, to coin a phrase ‘have his friends’ backs is totally full of crap. In all honesty, he’s kind of like a dog. In... squirrel form. He’s loyal as hell. He can’t help it, it’s just the way he is, and he’s not ashamed to admit how much he loves each and every one of his friends and how much he’d do for them. Which is, in all honesty, pretty much anything. Seriously. Short of breaking laws, of course, as he certainly doesn’t want to be a convict, or anything that involves him allowing a friend to get hurt, or into serious trouble. He’s not stupid, as he knows it’s probably best that he watches just how many people he’s sticking his neck out for, but that’s just not the way he operates. He can’t just look at someone and say that, since they act a certain way, he’s not going to help them. For instance, he couldn’t just leave someone out in the cold because they’re not one of his best friends. No. That’s just not cool, by his books. Some may say that he’s just a sucker for a person in need, and he’d tend to agree. Sure, he’s aware that people like him, who does so much for others, often get taken advantage of. Taken advantage of by people who’s too loyal for his own good, and use whatever good traits he has to blackmail him into doing things for them. It’s happened to him in the past, and it will, of course, happen again in the future. But he just doesn’t care. It’s just the way he works. People need help, he helps them. But he can control his generosity just a little bit. While one doesn’t have to do much to qualify for his aid, chances are, he won’t help out a total stranger. Or like… a bad guy or whatever. People who want his help kind of need to earn it. And while it doesn’t take much to fit into his personal definition of ‘earning it’, it’s certainly a start. He tries not to make himself a target for manipulation, but he’s just trying to be a nice person. Plain and simple. But not only will he help his friends, he’s quite protective over them as well. A bit overprotective, actually.
Though it may come as quite the surprise, what with all he’s been through in his life, Scotty is one of the most easygoing squirrels around. Easygoing in terms of what he’ll take from people, and how much it takes to make him legitimately angry enough to do something about it, anyway. But even he isn’t a saint. Usually, he won’t say anything because he’d rather not argue with people unless he has absolutely no choice. In his opinion, it’s just stupid to blow up every five minutes because of all the unimportant, thoughtless comments people make. Especially when said comments really won’t matter ten minutes from then, let alone a few days, or a week. If somebody says something that bugs him, Scotty just kind of… shoves it aside. He just keeps his mouth shut, laughs along with the crowd, and gets on with his life. It’s not the best way to deal with things, no, but it works for him more often than it doesn’t. Ask anybody at the Castle when the last time they saw Scotty freak out was. You’ll get no answer, which is exactly what he wants. He doesn’t want to be known as another one of those melodramatic kids who nobody really wants to be around. He prefers to pick when and where he ‘fights his battles’, and right in the middle of a crowded hallway, with everybody watching to see what happens is certainly not what he wants. He doesn’t want to be ‘hanging out his dirty laundry’ out there where everybody can see and get involved. Simply put, he prefers to have people let him deal with things his way. Behind closed doors, if he chooses to deal with them at all. He hates calling people on things, because he certainly doesn’t like confrontation. He hates it. He’s an absolute and total pansy when it comes down to it. He knows full well that it’s a problem, but he doesn’t want to start confronting people on things simply because he knows he probably should. What can he say? He’s just a kid – technically -, and he’s working on it.
•Inner Thought Process:
Inside, Scotty really doesn’t want anything to do with fighting, or the Royal Family, or anything like that. He’s never been a big fan of confrontation, and the idea of fighting alongside the Knights and all those fancy people kind of makes that inevitable. As far as he’s concerned, the less fighting he has to do, the better. Which is precisely why he chose to study magic: so he could stay out of the direct fray and assist his allies from afar, if at all. Suffice to say, Scotty just wants to live his life happily, without having to worry about risking his life or anything like that. Though he highly doubts that will ever happen.

But Your History Decides Your Version of "Responsibility"
History:
Scotty never got to have the experience of living in the monochrome, simple place that would later be known as Timeless River. No, when his mother and father finally decided to have a son and gave birth to the young squirrel, the majestic Disney Castle had already been built, the Royal Family placed in power. However, all throughout his childhood, he heard stories of the way things used to be. When times were simpler, everyone was on an equal playing field when it came to power, and how pleasant life was. With a few notable exceptions, of course. One such exception was a story his father always told him of this incredibly vicious, rude, obnoxious tigress by the name of Bella, who had beaten up his father simply for making a few comments at her expense. Though he would not meet said tigress for quite some time, luckily for him.
Scotty grew up living a very normal, very boring life. He and his parents resided in the lively, highly populated town just outside of the Castle itself, his parents making a living by helping run some of the games taking place at the famed festival that took place each and every year. However, for some reason, Scotty could not bring himself to just live his life running games. No, he wanted more. He didn’t want to be a warrior or anything – quite the opposite, actually, considering that confrontation scared him to death – but if he was going to be involved in the festival in some way, he wanted to be involved in a big way.
Proceeding to slowly but surely teach him the mysterious, strange, inexplicable art of magic, he found work as a performer at the festival, entertaining the masses with his magical abilities. But he always wanted more. He had always just... wanted to do something with his life. But he really wasn’t sure if he’d ever get the chance.
