Alair did not hesitate as he turned around. Although he did it slowly, and with his hands in half-up the air as if she was pointing a pistol at him. Wishful thinking indeed. But then again, a "clean" get away was just a little too easy for his liking.
"My, my, the little girl is rather persisant." He spoke, the normally staged tone he had of interest and emotion seeming to melt away. When he spoke now, it seemed more cold. "I can see today is not the best day of your life, so why don't we avoid a bloody sunset?" He stated rather bluntly, dropping his hands, fingers touching the hilt of his katana.

God, he was annoying. But that could have just been because she was so upset today. Either way, today wasn’t the day to give bad first impressions. She sneered at him. “Are you threatening me?” She asked, her tone showing no sign of fear, even after noticing the katana he possessed.
Actually, why had she even followed him out in the first place? What had she been expecting? An apology? Hell, what good was that going to do for even if she could get it out of him? Oh, this was wonderful. It’s a good thing she didn’t have temper tantrums often.

"I don't make threats," He told her plainly. Perhaps it was his upbringing, but he didn't favour picking fights with women. Of course, she picked it with him, but nonetheless.

Miribelle crossed her arms together. “But stealing is totally fine.” She commented sarcastically, nodding now that she “understood.”
“Because of that stunt you pulled out there, a whole brawl could have broken out.” She told him. All she had been trying to do was prevent a fight. Things got so messy when drunks fought and she was always the one who had to clean it up. Broken tables, chairs, mugs, glasses, liquor, blood, and maybe even a body if things got bad enough. They rarely did, but still. [/blockquote]

Alair sighed, his time being wasted. "A mere warning." He said staidly, her ridiculing his "job" made his eyes narrow. "Because it is how I live, does not make it correct. Nor does it mean that I enjoy every second of it. You obviously loathe your job as I can see to your constant complaining and your jolly attitude."
He took a few steps backwards, considering turning tail and running. Yet he had to wait for the perfect moment. "That was the idea. Do what I must. We are all but self-serving beings anyway."

Miribelle just continued to glare. Who was he to make assumptions. He was just some thief with a supposed guilty conscience. That hardly made up for what he did. There were plenty of other things he could do. “For your information, I do not loathe my job. I’m just having a crappy day.” She growled.
“You just made it worse.”

"You made it worse for yourself. The scallywags I take from have taken worse things. You don't need me to tell that to you, though, do you? You could have just turned a blind eye." He was sure she was more than aware of the acts of most of those rowdy drunks.
Alair opened his arms, looking as though he would before accepting a huge from a small child, and walked backwards signficantly. "Consider me karma incarnate."
Now, either he'd be lucky enough to skirt away, or she'd persue and chase him. He was tired and hoped for the former.
(god alair you sure do talk a lot XD)

Miribelle looked like she had been stricken. She had never thought about it like that… But that still didn’t make him any more right by doing what he did. Her face took on the angry expression again. “I made it worse for myself? What do you think would have happened when he noticed his wallet was missing? You think he’d just assume he lost it in the bar?” She asked. The man was drunk, but that didn’t make him stupid enough to come to that conclusion.
“Karma incarnate my ass!” Miribelle yelled, beginning to follow him again. He wasn’t going to get away, not without a couple hits for making her night more unpleasant.

"I would have been long gone by then," Alair said, before turning to start running forward.
From her actions and words, he knew she would be hot on his trail. Unfortunately enough for him, he wasn't quite sure how much stronger or weaker she was against him. But he'd danced with fate enough today and would prefer if he could just get away with some money in his pocket.
Without looking behind him, he turned into a darkened alley, nearly stumbling over a few barrels of god-knows-what. He looked up at the rooftops, which were lit dimly by the moon, hoping he had enough darkness to cloak his leap, as he jumped and grabbed onto the roof, having to pull himself up.
Once on top of the roof, he ducked behind the shadow of bricks that made up the shack's chimney, catching his breathe.

“He would have lashed out at anyone!” Tch, as if she cared about him being hurt or not. All she cared about was the mess she would have had to clean up if she hadn’t been so lucky.
Right now she could use the chance to blow off some steam. No one was really around now, so she could get away with it, most likely. Miribelle ditched her skirts in the alley so they wouldn’t hinder her movement. It was times like this that she was grateful she wore pants underneath.
The darkness alone probably would have been enough for him if he hadn’t had to catch the roof and pull himself all the way up. She managed to spot him just as he had done so and she followed, managing to be more quiet thanks to both her weight and her skill. She couldn’t see where he went, unfortunately, once she made it to the roof, so she crept carefully and scanned the area for any sudden movement.

Alair breathed softer as he heard the slight motions of her coming up. As far as he knew, she still didn't know where he was.
His lavender eyes glanced around him. If only he could find a pebble or something to throw at the roof next to them. But there was nothing but useless object up by the chimney. He bit down on his lip.
It was only a matter of time before she found him or gave up. And she didn't seem to want to give up.
(oh, right, sorry ;; )

Alair was right about it being unlikely for her to give up. She was pretty hard-headed and even more so when she was angry. Which, she was, quite obviously.
She began to make her way toward the chimney, the only shelter that wasn’t completely worthless on the roof. Maybe she’d take him by surprise if she came around the right way. She stepped slowly and quietly and peeked around the corner cautiously to see if he was there. She was sure to brace herself if she was unlucky enough to catch him face to face.
[No worries! =D]

Found you! Now you go count and I'll hide!
Alair's head spun as, in the dark moment, the memory came back to him. Maybe he had had to much wine. Only a glass, though.
No time to reminise, she found him. Ther was no giving up. Alair got up and jumped back to put some distance between them, but overshot himself and ended up loosing his balance on the roof.
He fell backwards, his stomach doing flips into his throat. Oh Lord, what a foolish thing to die for...
He, luckily enough, landed into a pile of muddy hay. It was not a bed of roses, however, for Alair had gotten the wind knocked out of him regardless. He lay, immobilized, trying to gasp for breath.

Miribelle lunged at him as he jumped away, her fingers missing him by inches. She cursed bitterly before she noticed he had lost his balance. Her eyes widened and she rushed to the edge of the roof and looked over. She was pissed, but not pissed enough to want him dead.
He landed what looked to be safely. With an exasperated sigh, she jumped down to the ground. Her booted foot was hovering over his chest, ready to slam him back down into the hay should he try to make a desperate get away. “See what you did?” She asked.

Alair looked up at her, annoyance in his eyes. Mostly not directed at her, "Made of fool of myself?" He suggested, rather calmly compare to his expression which hinted his mood was otherwise.
He'd give up by now. What's another day without pay.
