Personality:•General Persona: Everything about Riku radiates confidence. He speaks in an off-handed manner, as if he simply found everything mildly amusing. Riku seems to expect everyone to start bowing down to him, due to his reputation as the island's ace. He's often sarcastic and taunting, especially when a competition is involved. Despite this, he definitely has a kind side to him- jokes at others' expense are his weird way of showing he cares. He can be encouraging if his friends start to lag behind.
•Inner Thought Process: Riku has an abnormal belief in his own abilities, which can border on arrogance, then usually shoots right past the border. He thinks that he was meant for something far greater than just living the simple life of an islander. Despite his arrogance, however, he has a genuine loyalty to his friends- he just believes they'll be safer under his protection.
•Fears: Though Riku desires to see the world beyond the islands, the overwhelming threat of the unknown somewhat frightens him. In addition, he's afraid of the thought of losing his close friends, and he also fears that his strength will prove insignificant.

But Your History Decides Your Version of "Responsibility"
[/b][/size][/center][/u]History: It's not quite clear what, exactly, made Riku so different from the other children of the islanders.
He was born to a normal family, went to the same school as the others, played at the same island, had the same interests, and went through the same training and sparring routines. Yet for some reason, he has become one of the most skilled and confident fighters in the world.
Riku's growth may be attributed to his constant rivalry with his best friend, Sora. Both hotheaded young men, though from an outsider's viewpoint Riku seems to be the cool and collected of the pair, they would do everything together- race, spar, have adventures on the island.
While exploring the mysterious Secret Place, Riku and Sora determined that one day they would have real adventures, “Not this kid stuff”, as Riku said. They were just young kids then, but they have taken their oath to heart, and constantly push each other's limits.
Incredibly popular due to his prodigal skills, Riku doesn't typically indulge in flaunting his reputation, though he does enjoy being known as the fastest and strongest on the island. He's actually a bit of a loner, doesn't engage in school sports and activities much. His grades are so-so, but it's mainly because he could care less about studying.
Of late, Riku has been seen moodily staring out to sea. He seems distracted, almost distant. His desire for adventure had invoked a powerful wanderlust in the young man- he wanted with all his might to leave their samey island and visit new and exciting places.
Riku will find his wish granted, sooner than he'd expect but later than he'd wanted. Whether he'll still wish for it after seeing what other worlds are like, remains to be seen...
