It isn't long before the rumors start to build, and the Daily Prophet snatches the chance to print the story. The headline "Express destroyed, Hogwarts closed!" covers the front page of every copy of the Daily Prophet. What has happened? Who could have possibly destroyed the Express, and the only way for Hogwarts' students to get to their destination? For those that were involved in the first and second battles between Voldemort and his followers, it is very clear: Death Eaters have returned.

the defeat of lord voldemort.
Though the defeat of Lord Voldemort brought relief to many, it angered his followers. Knowing they were defeated, they fled from the magical community and all that they knew, vowing to return to get their revenge. Their numbers were weakened, due to some of them being captured by the Ministry, but those that somehow escaped hid in the shadows knowing that one day they would catch everyone by surprise. All they had to do was wait for the right time and strike where it was least expected.

It has been twenty four years since the famous battle between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort. Twenty four years since the magical community picked themselves up and rebuilt their world, strengthened their government, and mourned over lost loved ones. The days of the Order of the Phoenix and Death Eaters have ended, and now, the wizarding world enjoys a calmer era, which many have described as the golden years.
However, just because the war has ended, and the Dark Lord that once terrified the wizarding world is dead, doesn't mean that all is forgotten. The magical community is reminded of what happened, when they think about the loss of their loved ones, or the destruction that was caused during the battles to defeat the dark wizard and his followers. Even to this day, some are cautious and on the look out for anything they may go wrong. They know that peace doesn't last forever, even though everyone wants it to.

Where the Express stands waiting for it's passengers, rubble litters Platform 9 3/4. Concerned for the safety of the students, the Ministry of Magic closes the entrance and posts a notice, magically charmed so that only those of the magical community could read it. It simply reads:
Platform 9 3/4 temporarily closed for maintenance. Hogwart's term and opening delayed until further notice.
