[CHARACTER RULES]
Here lie the character rules. Be sure to read these before and while making a character for the first time. It's not only a set of rules, but also a sort of guide. If you're not going to make a Heartless or Nobody, by all means, ignore their sections. Everything else is MUST READ, though.
Character Creation
- All the info you need to get started on making a new character can be found here. The two types of profiles are explained there, as well as the templates themselves.
Abilities & Skill Points
- See that section in the traditional profile called "Abilities"? Those can all be found in the Shop. Characters, upon creation, receive 1000 Shop Credits that can be used to purchase any item from the Shop along with the user's own personal Munny. However, there's a reason for this large sum of starting Munny.
- Characters can't start out with a ton of Custom Abilities - in fact, they only get one free Custom Ability of Weak strength to begin with. More info on that can be found in the Custom Ability Rules. Most of a character's Abilities are going to be premade ones, found in the Shop.
- When a new character is created, they have 30 Skill Points allotted between Strength, Agility, and Cunning. These, and any Skill Points you earn from RPs, will greatly affect what Abilities the character will have at their disposal. By having enough points, it's even possible to buy certain Abilities at a discount and earn Skill Ranks, which are effectively a bundle of Abilities your character earns all at once for FREE.
- Skill points do not directly affect the roleplay. A character with 20 Strength could be just as strong as a character with 10 Strength, and so on. Skill Points are only there for buying Abilities and obtaining Skill Ranks.
- To buy an Ability that replaces another, you don't have to buy the basic form first. This means you can get Blunt Weapon Student before Blunt Weapon Trainee.
- Any ability that changes your base damage for normal attacks doesn't stack with similar abilities. So Infusion spells and Aura Weapon Abilities can't be stacked, and so on. Abilities like the Advancement Abilities do combine with Infusions or Auras because they multiply the base damage after adding the Infusion or Aura, rather than changing it directly.
- Be realistic with abilities. A lion from Pride Lands isn't going to have Flash of Fists.
- In your ability post, you'll also want to include your HP bar. Read the Roleplay Rules for more info on Health.
Weapons
- As you see in the profile, you character can have a Primary and Secondary Weapon - though you can have almost any number of Secondary Weapons. Just make sure it makes sense for your character to have it. No guns in Olympus Colosseum, etc.
- KEYBLADES! Everybody wants one! But they're not that simple to obtain... check out the Keyblade Rules for more info.
- If you want your character to have a shield for a weapon (like Goofy), there are a few things to keep in mind. Shields can have up to 8 hp. They will block any attack that deals 1-3 damage that can be reasonably blocked. No blocking giant waves of fire with a rinky-dink shield or anything like that. They will take half damage from attacks that do 4-7 damage, and break from attacks at or beyond 8 damage.
Homeworld
- Your character should be from one of the worlds listed on the forum. Sorry, no original worlds. While original worlds are creative and have a story of their own, this is Kingdom Hearts! You have tons of worlds to choose from, and really, any character should be able to find their niche somewhere in this massive universe. Make sure to check the World Directory, because not all of the worlds are available right now.
- Make sure your character's history, name, and... well, everything fits their home world. No guns in Olympus Colosseum, no characters named "John" in Destiny Islands, etc. Use common sense.
- Er, keep in mind you won't be able to leave your homeworld easily. More info on that in the Roleplaying rules.
Canon Characters
- If you would like to roleplay as a character that appeared in the Kingdom Hearts series (such as Donald from Disney Castle, or Cloud from Radiant Garden), you'll have to make a Canon Audition first to make sure you're up to the task-- and those aren't free. You'll need to cough up 250 munny for one of those, unless there's an event with free auditions. Don't worry, things like that will be announced by staff. your Canon Audition will be reviewed and critiqued by staff, and if we feel you can play the character properly, awesome! It'll be accepted and you can go on to make the character. If not... sorry, but you'll have to try again if you really want to play the character.
- If you have more than one Canon, they can't be too close. So you can't have Phil and Herc, or Sora and Riku.
- Make sure the canon you want is available for the taking by checking the canon list. We're aware that not all of the characters that made an appearance in the Kingdom Hearts games are on the list. That's because the staff has stolen them (usually temporarily) for its own devious plots.
Character Limits
- We're capping you guys off at eight characters for the time being, given how funky the point system is. There's only so many directions you can go at once, and all. These characters can be canon or original.
Other Races
- On Dream Sequence, you may have a character of any species that appears in the game, as long as it's canonically correct. This means Nobodies, Heartless and Moogles are acceptable as well as humans. No vampires/werewolves etc. unless you plan on them being from Halloween Town.
Heartless
- Heartless, being the special little beasties that they are, cost an extra 250 munny to make. However, note that if you're making a Heartless because another one of your characters was defeated or somehow lost to the Darkness, no fee will be charged... as long as you provide a link to the original profile, as well as an explanation in the new character's history as to why it became a Heartless. Advance warning by the way-- Heartless can't have Keyblades.
- Humanoid Heartless can't be made, normally. The rights to make these profiles will be handed out for any number of reasons to members of the forum. Participate in quests, do some epic threads, and maybe you'll get one.
- Remember that fee you have to pay for making a Heartless? That's because all Heartless get a special row of abilities no other character can have. These abilities are listed below:
- The Curse of Defeat
When a Heartless defeats another character in battle, they have the option to forcibly turn said character into a Heartless.- Shadow Shift
A Heartless may turn into a shadow and slither across the ground. However, this does not mean the Heartless is immune to damage. If struck with a magical ability, they will turn back into their regular form and cannot return into the shadow form for five posts. The maximum a Heartless can remain in this form is two posts. Afterward, they cannot return back to this form for three posts, should they change back willfully.- Scratch
A Heartless' scratch deals Dark damage.- Also, Heartless can travel out of, but not into, Closed Worlds of their own volition!
Nobodies
- Creating a Nobody character will obviously cost a fee to make as well - 300 munny, only 50 more than that of the Heartless. However, as with the Nobody's counterpart, if your character was turned into a Heartless, you may get a discount or waived fee entirely. Nobodies can't have Keyblades either, by the way.
- Also like the Heartless, humanoid Nobodies cannot be created. The rights to make these profiles will be handed out for various reasons. Participate in quests, do some epic threads, and maybe you'll get one. This only comes into play if the character that's set to become a Nobody has a strong will, though. We will be checking.
- Also like Heartless, Nobodies get to enjoy a slew of inborn abilities. Read on!
- The Law of Nonexistence
Nobodies are not bound by gravity as are humans and other species. Nobodies may float in the air and even glide, their flying speed topping out at about 10 miles an hour (twice the speed of a normal running human).- Consumption
Should a nobody defeat a being with a heart in battle, they may consume that heart and turn back into a human.- Impeccable Minds
Nobodies do not feel emotion, and thus, they are extremely good at rationalizing problems. A nobody cannot be put under an illusion of any sort, nor can they be "tricked" using emotional methods.- Vines of Nothing
When a nobody runs or glides, they may leave behind black and white vines that act as an unbreakable barrier. These last for two posts before dissipating.
