Malthus expected a projectile spell when he saw her gesture, having seen similar things from Eve when he fought her in the woods in Twilight Town. Instinctively, he summoned Burning Horizon to hopefully be able to block it. Then he felt water beneath his bare feet, and didn't have a chance to look down before the water erupted, shooting him into the air. He spared a glance at Prell just in time to see a hurting shard of ice fly at him. "I'm not all washed up just yet!" The Geyser having tossed him in the air, he quickly did a flip in the air, avoiding the spell with his Aerial Dodge. He landed on the ground in style, Burning Horizon held in one hand. "You're clever, but I'm onto your tricks now." Have to leave her off balance somehow... "Why don't you... dance?!" Three quick flashes as he threw his daggers and knives again. One dagger to the left of her, one to the right, and four to the center, thrown in such a way that they'd spread out to cover both up and down. He'd like to see her roll her way out of a spreadshot of several attacks. [hp=57/70] ((Aerial Dodge, you know how to count the throws by now.))

[ Tch, I figured Ice Arrow would go a bit faster... Also, Geyser lasts a full turn! How is Malthus landing perfectly right into muddy slosh-- water and dusty dust... stuff mixing together?! ]It was when Malthus pulled his arm back, in preparation for another barrage of daggers, that Prell clenched her fists and realized that this was going nowhere fast. He was winning! He was very good, but if she didn't pull herself together...! SPLOOSH. A second geyser erupted underneath Prell, sending her skyward as Malthus launched his flurry of flying weapons. And she was in the air. "Dance?" Prell replied, her robe and hair flaring up in the massive motion of the movement. "Well-- okay!" The girl lifted her arms-- to get control over the robe, it was flying around everywhere!-- and twisted her body in the air to jab forward towards Malthus with the outstretched robe-- Oh, now it's obvious! By holding her arms out, the bladed edge of her robe become more like a sword-- it can stab and parry, presumably... ... ...oh. Prell launched out a Precision Stab as she flew downwards for Malthus. She landed safely-- more than safely, with great aplomb!-- and using the momentum from the fall launched herself for Malthus again. [ Basic Parkour in use for not dying on contact with floor, immediate jumping for Malthus whether he moved in reaction to the first attack, etc... ]And then, with a wink, she accepted Malthus' offer to dance. And dance she did. [ Blade Dance ][ 4 damage for the Precision Stab, 4 per hit from Blade Dance (and minimum of two hits from the Blade Dance). Also, abilities cannot harm their caster, regarding Geyser.
Round 4/7-- getting towards the finish line here.

Malthus simply rapidly did a Dodge Roll under her, avoiding the stab while Burning Horizon vanished. This was exhilarating! As he turned around to counterattack, he turned at that she COULD, in fact, catch him. Painfully. With freezing knives. But what was cold to him? He'd shrugged off flames from Eve, and now he would shrug off ice from this girl for the same reasons... he had lived outdoors, endured scorching summers and freezing winters, at least for Twilight Town, and he was used to pain. So, right when the second slice came in, he counterattacked, going in as the robe cut a large gash in his side so that he could unleash a Disorienting Chop. Then, while he was up close and personal, he unleashed two more quick Flash of Fists.[hp=49/70]

Malthus leaned in to swing his incredibly disorienting chop-- again-- but Prell grinned as she recognized the motion. The motion was more Malthus' face than his arm, actually. He had this bizarre look of total concentration when he was planning. Weeeeiiiiiirrrd. Prell ducked below the side chop with a deft roll, coming up behind Malthus, whereupon she reached for her-- Punch to the face. Malthus proceeded to surprise Prell and attempt to slam a massive flurry of fists down Prell's throat, with moderate success. The first of the barrages, as a surprise, was received. The second, the girl now expecting it, managed to twist out of the way of the blows. [ Basic Parkour. Flash of Fists says it makes it difficult to escape, which I'm buying. But when it's fully expected and with the training from Parkour (which explicitly says it helps with dodging), I think scrambling away from the second volley is justified. ]And then oh hey something happened. Something unexpected. Prell cast Ice Soul. And then Prell resumed her dangerous Blade Dance. [ 4 damage per hit! WHOO~ ]...and then the waves of blue energy surrounding Prell faded away, as her Impressive Concoction ceased to have any effect. She noticed this. Not two strikes after her Blade Dance began, she started to dance... away... towards where Malthus had thrown his two daggers and four throwing knives. Well, yeah. [hp=28/52]

Malthus harrumphed as the blade cut into him again. He was going to have to bandage many of these cuts up, Mantra or no Mantra! Then he noticed what Prell had noticed. And if he was timing correctly, the time of the match was running out as well. He did have enough time to press his advantage, though. With his speed he could beat her though, as he dashed forwards with a Rush. Snatching up his knives, he turned to face her with her dance. If she had about the same endurance as he, she couldn't keep up those types of maneuvers for much longer... If she wanted his knives so badly, why not give them to her? He grinned as he tossed them at her in one quick motion, turning and Rushing once more to the other six knives he had thrown, turning back to face her. "I think your time is running out." He said, watching her closely. Now, to get out of range of her robe... Malthus jumped up towards a pillar near the top, bouncing up as high into the sky as he could with his jumping skills. Even if she could imitate his feat, by that time gravity would have brought him falling down so that she couldn't get more than one hit on him with that robe. [hp=41/70]

The four thrown knives flew straight and true as they sliced into and past Prell's arms, stopping her dance short. Ah, he was so fast...! Fast, fast indeed-- Malthus had managed to stroll over to his other knives too. Prell started up another spell when Malthus leaped into the air-- Stone Spike. Seeing the boy leap into the air though, she panicked, quickly changing the location before the spell finished casting-- Except... nothing happened. Prell couldn't cast non-Ice magic right now! The girl's training took over. More than thinking, Prell instinctively thrust out the rope she normally reserved for use with her Magic Rope spell. She had to move-- Malthus would land soon enough, and Prell had to be there when he did. Grabbing one of Malthus' daggers, the girl mage started towards Malthus. I might make it!, she thought, casting Frost Infusion on the dagger and the rope, hardening the both of them with a strong frosty edge. She kept an eye on Malthus-- move around though he may, she wasn't going to escape her Aim so easily... Not when she was going all out, not while she was outright rush for him. She almost bit her lip. She wasn't a trainee-- she was a student. She could handle this many weapons, she could focus, maybe pull through...! All or nothing, right? [ Round 6, Bossman! Ready for the final dance? ][hp=20/52]

As Malthus saw her rushing towards her when he landed, he harrumphed. She should know better than to rush at someone proven to be deadly with throwing knives, and he held six of them. Well, he used to hold six of them; they were now flying through the air for her body, while Burning Horizon appeared in his hands; when she got into range, he did two things. First, he stabbed her rapidly and accurate with a Precision Stab, and then got into a battle stance to prepare for whatever attack she had planned. "Surrender!" [hp=41/70] ((Incidentally, since you said you were out of Dodge Rolls... that should be 12 + 2 = 14.))

Prell coughed. There was a knife sticking out of her shoulder, her robe was a muddy mess, she was bleeding in twelve places, including where she'd tripped and slid against her own robe, her face was black and blue from Malthus' many punches, and she was pretty sure what she'd just coughed was her own blood. She giggled. "Okay," Prell said, with a respectful look in her eyes, "but I want a rematch when I'm all fixed up." * FWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET* Herc didn't waste any time getting Prell off the field and onto a stretcher. Phil didn't waste any time marking up the tournament brackets. And the tournament volunteers didn't waste any time escorting Malthus back into the waiting room. Malthus had made it to the final round. And from the sounds of the cheers out there for the people who went following Malthus, it was already time for the next round. Both sides had a chance to down some water, but Yatusatari didn't even leave the field between rounds this time. The two stood opposite each other-- On one side, a battered 18-year-old with a strange weapon. On the other, a 23-year-old who seemed little worse for wear with a strange weapon. ... Ladies and gentlemen, the strange weapons have it. [ Rookie Tournament Rules: ] Each Tournament Round will last for 7 rounds max. This is a rookie tournament, folks.
The 1st RP round starts with the first attack, and the first side to attack starts the posting order. This means the last person on the posting order will make the last post, and that non-attacking posts are permitted before the first attack.
The most damage dealt at the end of the seven rounds will determine the winner.
The losing side will receive RP Turn-In prizes, but will not go on to fight for the grand munny prize.
Defeating your foe(s) before time ends will also result in a winning mark.
You must post at least once every two days. If you don't, your character will be in a presumed BSOD, and Herc will jump in and remove your character from the tournament, for the character's sake.
Remember-- no automatic HP recovery between battles! Use an ability or item to recover HP, if necessary. ~FINAL ROUND~ -- MALTHUS vs YATASUTARI --[/center]

"Well, looks like we both made it to the final round, eh kid?" Yatusatari commented, grinning. "Kinda fitting, isn't it? Give it a good go; I haven't had a good fight in ages. Time to show me what that Keyblade you've got there can do, don't you think? We'll start when you're ready, kid; show me that fightin' style of yours you were working on," She finished, ramming Masamune's blade into the ground beside her and resting her hand on the strangely shaped hilt. This would be interesting, if nothing else; she was eager to see how Malthus had formed his fighting style since she'd shown him the basics of swordplay. Time to see how well he'd gotten it down.

Malthus grinned, and winced in pain; several of the many cuts he now had were still bleeding. "I think you'll be surprised." He chuckled. "I intend to win this fight... and I won't do so with my old tricks with my knives. Sword versus sword, fist versus fist. What do you say to that deal? Sound fair enough to do?" He concentrating on trying to recover somewhat from the last fight, saying a mantra under his breath. [hp=49/70]

"Sounds good to me, kid. But just because I know you, don't think I'm going to just let you win!" She said, grinning and pulling Masamune from the ground. She charged forward, swinging the blade in an upwards arc and bringing the blunt end down in a follow-up strike, delivering two quick kicks in his direction before ducking backwards a couple of steps. Malthus quickly used Burning Horizon to block the first blow, one hand in the guard and the other near the upper end of the blunt side. He then entered into a Dodge Roll to avoid the next attack, unfortunately rolling right into the first of the kicks. He was ready for the second, jumping up and above it with Can't Catch Me! He landed behind her as she ducked backwards, right towards him,, and he deftly delivered two Precision Stabs.[hp=47/70] ((Precision Stab x 2 Bladed Weapon Student 4 damage))

"Not bad; keep it up," Yatusatari said, not seeming to acknowledge the injuries given by the knives. She reversed her attack pattern for the next strike, sending two kicks his way, then following up with a spinning slash and a sideways hit from the blunt side of the massive sword, hopping back a small bit and keeping Masamune in a defensive position. Malthus simply endured the kicks, wincing as Burning Horizon disappeared. He also simply moved forwards to take the bladed attack as well, Dodge Rolling out of the way of the blunt attack. His fighting style was so much more than speed and dodging. It was variation, surprise... and then more speed to be shown as he unleashed Flash of Fists He quickly followed that up with a Precision Stab, starting the stabbing motion before Burning Horizon even fully appeared in his hands. Ari gave a bit of the laugh, standing up from the blows and pushing Masamune's blade into the ground in front of her. If she felt pain from her injuries, she was doing a good job of hiding it; if anything, she looked happy. "All right, you got me. I concede; you did good, kid," She said, grinning and extending her hand towards Malthus as a way of congratulating him on his victory. [Recap: Concede defeat.] [hp=2/20]
