I'd like to attempt to purchase a Keyblade for Sora. I'd also like to unlock the various abilities I locked for him at creation (You know, the ones with the little 'x'es by them), please and thank you~

Alright, Pryth asked me to do a once over-- denying a Keyblade's not a small thing to do, and I can see we're both a little wary about the notion.

And, I gotta say, I do think the decision needs some more think tank time.

But let me explain.

There's three rules to getting a Keyblade:

1. Character must be RPed with unless character is significantly (and bluntly-- hard otherwise for a lone profile) developed enough.
2. Character's RPs must show a strong sense of the character.
3. Must not be a Heartless.

Sora's got 1 and 3 down, unarguably. It's numero 2 that Pryth and I are going to confer on and get back to you in 24 hours.

Alright, what Pryth said up above is poorly phrased. It's not number of RPs we're dealing with, it's how strongly defined the character is. Number-wise, Pryth's own Keyblader has about as many active/completed threads as Sora does, give or take a few.

The first two Keyblader prerequisites were made to avoid giving flat characters a Keyblade.

DS is, as you know, not vying for balance among characters so much as progression. WE'RE AVOIDING GAMEBREAKERS THOUGH I PROMISE! But part of progression is building a story around a character, and Keybladers-- having the major power of being able to lock and unlock entire worlds-- should most definitely not be flat characters.

Don't you worry none, Pryth an' I are both sensible sorta people and tend to agree on things pretty quickly-- we'll let you know what we think after knocking our heads together, explain why we think so, and we'll move on from there.

You have a say in this, of course-- flatness and roundness of a character can be opinionated, and given this is your Keyblade and your character we're talking about, we should hear from you in the super-duper-likely event you think Sora has more than one dimension to him.

I'm leaving this thread unlocked. While Pryth and I compare notes, feel free to make some of your own and post them here, Crazy-- examples of non-flatness with links to posts, explaining some of the more subtle non-flatness, or hey-- maybe you were planning an RP where Sora gets the Keyblade and undergoes some character growth as a result! Who knows? I don't. Pryth don-- er, doesn't.

So tell us, Crazy! What's Sora been up to these days?

Well, I did have something in mind for a bit more character growth when he got the thing, but I don't see much reason to go against what you two decide should happen. I mean, I can always try again later after he's had more not-flatness and whatnot.

Decision's up to you guys; I don't believe I'm vague enough for you two geniuses to not pick up on whatever I was being vague on.

Well, Mr. Crazy, Dr. Prythian and I have gone over the results of the analysis and come to the conclusion that your character Sora does indeed seem to be suffering from Flat Character-itis. We're going to be keeping him off of any and all Keyblade-based substances for the foreseeable future.

I assure you, both Dr. Prythian and myself are positive that Flat Character-itis is in no way life threatening to your character-- he can live without access to Keyblade-based substances, though he may be noticeably not achieving his full potential as a hero.

We're recommending Sora track out more of his inner thought process in his posts, perhaps start experimenting with varying emotional tones, and-- if he's feeling up to it-- a plot-heavy thread. I know plot sounds dangerous, sir, but it is both Dr. Prythian's and my own personal opinion that a bit of character development-- something substantial that would warrant an addition to his History-- would be the most straight-forward path to knocking out Sora's Flat Character-itis.

You have my condolences-- I... I didn't really expect to walk into the office this morning and have to give this kind of news today. I'll be honest, though, Sora's condition has been improving as of late, and I think he'll pull through this easily, given the chance. ^{Cite: [1] --> [2]}
