It was another slow day for Matt it seemed. Walking across the sidewalk, strolling through the buildings that he had long since grown accustomed to. There was a time when it would feel awkward being at the town's square, the crowded center for all things that shoppers would dream of buying, because of the abundance of odds and ends the merchants carried in their stores... But that was long ago, nowadays it's as if this same center had become his usual hang-out spot.
On this certain day however, he was looking for a particular book to add to his collection, admitting to slacking off as far as reading goes. This whole week was spent towards work... Work, work, work, so couldn't he blame himself for splurging on his favorite past time? Probably so...but it's a guilty pleasure none the less...

Ellie was on a mission! She had heard a new book had come in and she had the money to buy herself a book or two. Plus, she hadn't been to the bookstore in awhile. She remembered when she could spend hours endlessly there reading books and dwelling into the book's story and setting. She had chosen her method of travel; her skateboard, which was green and had ridiculously a lot of stickers on it. She had put them there in her younger days when she used to collect them from the local shops and vending machines. Now, they were stuck onto her skateboard.
She was strolling down the street, weaving in and out of the crowds. Ducking and weaving! And she even took an occasional alleyway or two to avoid the crowds and to take a shortcut. She swerved out of an alleyway just after someone walked into her path. She hadn't seen him because of the narrow view the alleyway had to street outside of it. However, she managed to swerve before slamming into him but she lost control and slammed into a nearby bush.
The branches of the bush stabbed into her arm, though no real blood was see able. And, her munny bag sprawled out of her pocket and onto the street. Coins spilling out of it onto the street. She lay in the bush momentarily, not quite sure what had just happened.

Books were more or less something for him to pass the time, it was nothing that he considered to be an addiction but he did like stories that had a promising beginning, an intriguing middle, and an unexpected conclusion. The reason why he was so busy this week was because of errands he ran for various neighbors in the town. Save a cat here, a dog there, run to the grocery store and buy milk and eggs, beat up the occasional bully... Hey! That man deserved it! If one were to have seen him that person would have said the same.
But, there was one problem with this. It was obvious that Matt was lost in thought, yet, his friends always told him that one day he would walk into a street of oncoming traffic and not know it until the last second thanks to how his thoughts trail off.
No one told him that it would be a skateboarder who would nearly turn him into roadkill however.
He heard the tumbling of the wheels against the pavement but he paid them no mind since he assumed that it was coming from a direction parallel to his. It wasn't until the sound grew louder did he realize that whatever it was was coming straight towards him. With quick thinking he skipped out of the way and turned around just in time before the skateboarder collided with him.
However it was as if it was a stunt for a movie, he saw the skateboarder fly towards the bush and coins fell out of the skateboarder's bag. The coins was the least of his problems, he had to make sure whoever it was was okay...
Running towards the boarder's aid, he saw the body of a girl around his age in a daze, half of her body sticking out of the bushes. He also noticed her arm was scrapped. Helping the girl up, he looked at her with a bit of concern. "Are you okay miss...?"

Ellie looked up to see a boy older than herself help her up. "Uuh, yeah.." she said, though it was hardly convincing. She gave the boy a weak smile as she dusted herself off, hardly noticing the scrap on her arm. Though, her body sort of tinkled from running into the bush and being poked by its branches. She tried to recall all of what had happened. The boy who had helped her up had walked into her path. Though, it wasn't really his fault considering she should have been watching where she was going and should have slowed down and not have been so reckless. However, she did this everyday and hardly ever crashed, until today. "Just.. stupendous.." she tried not to be angry. It wasn't his fault after all, however it seemed she may be more angry with herself than with him.
She looked around and spotted her munny bag that had tumbled out of her pocket. She saw the coins were all sprawled out along the street and her skateboard had somehow managed to make it to the other side of the street, however it was flipped over. The young red head frantically picked up her coins and put them back into her bag. Her mind was focused on finding her things.

"Just.. stupendous.." Matt heard the girl say as she gazed at the wreck that just took place. There was a hint of frustration in her voice and automatically Matt became worried that it was his fault that this had happened to her. If he would have just payed attention to his surroundings for once.
But that was the past, well, a few minutes ago yes but still the past. It was only then did he observe all of the munny that laid in its wake. The sight was still something to behold, but there was no time to stand around. Thinking the same as him, the girl jolted past him and hurried off to collecting the munny from the ground.
"...I'll help out." Following her lead, he started picking up the remaining munny that was on the ground when he noticed something was missing. Her skateboard! After all, what is a skateboarder without a skateboard right? Seeing the green board across from him, Matt ran across the street to retrieve it.
"It seems to be in good shape..." He looked at the skateboard. A little bit of wear and tear there and there but thankfully the board appeared to be in one piece. He examined the many stickers that was on the skateboard, with one of the stickers catching his eye... "Some of these I hadn't seen in a while, what a collection..."
Placing the skateboard under his arm, with the munny that he was able to snatch off the ground in his other hand, Matt walked towards the girl. "I apologize for that, my name is Matt. It was my fault you bailed like that..." He gave her back the munny and her skateboard, no doubt feeling a bit nervous after the whole ordeal. Was she mad at him?

One couldn't be sure whose fault it actually had been. One, Ellie was kind of going too fast and probably should have known to slow down near the on coming street. However, it seemed that Matt hadn't really been paying attention but who was he to know that someone would be zooming out of the alleyway just as he was walking by it.
Ellie didn't really have all the time in the world to count each and every last coin in her bag; she would just have to hope that she collected all of them. She looked around at the street near the bush and where she crashed for any remaining coins. She then heard the boy say that he would help out. "No.." she started to say as she turned around but it seemed he had went to collect some of her coins as well as her skateboard. She bit her lip for a moment and waited for him to come back over with her skateboard.
"Um thanks.." she said, taking her munny and depositing it into her pouch and taking her skateboard and putting it underneath her arm. She then tilted her head, "No..I believe it was my fault, I shouldn't have been going so fast. Oh! And mine names Ellie," she said introducing herself to the boy who said his name was Matt. She gave him a smile.
"It's nice to meet you Mat...I don't think I've seen you 'round before Matt," Ellie explained, pointing out. She was pretty familiar with people around here since she'd lived here her entire life. Though, there were some she hadn't spoken to or didn't really know. But, most often she had seen almost everyone's face in town even if she didn't know them in person or know their name.

Matt looked at the sky and noticed that the day was slowly but surely getting later... If he didn't hurry soon then he would have to wait later to get that book that he wanted. Yet at the same time he didn't want to lose the opportunity to actually meet someone interesting in Twilight Town. Considering the fact that he hadn't really met anyone he would consider a friend as of yet.
"Nice to meet you Ellie, I don't think I have seen your face around here either..." was what Matt responded as he looked around, making sure there wasn't any missing munny pieces. Realizing what he said, he tried his best to rephrase the words that just came out of his mouth. "I mean...I don't really live around here." Smooth move, those weren't his exact words either. What Matt meant to say was that he doesn't enter the city as often as he would like. Yet formed into words it came out different.
Looking at her to make sure she wasn't injured, he noticed Ellie's appearance. She appeared younger than him, a bit on the short side, but an all-around easygoing looking girl. He could still hear music faintly from her headphones but what caught his attention was her hair. "I'm not the only redhead anymore. Yay!" Matt said under his breath and smiled but he hoped that Ellie didn't hear, least she would think of him as some type of weirdo. With that he quickly changed the subject.
"So why exactly were you flying down the alleyways like speed demon anyway?" There, that was the question he wanted to ask all along. Was that so difficult? Matt began to walk down the street towards the direction that he was going originally, hoping that Ellie would be going in the same direction. It was getting a bit humid and standing around wasn't exactly helping anyone's situation.

Ellie tilted her head as Matt practically repeated what she had said but then corrected himself. "Don't live 'round here, eh?" she asked, more so rhetorically than anything. It wasn't really a question that she intended to be answered, "Where else is there ta live?" she asked looking around for a second and then returning to look at him. She gave him a small smile.
Speed demon,eh? the red-head girl thought to herself at Matt's question. She hadn't thought she was going that fast but okay. "Uh well, I heard a new book came in...wanted to get it before it sold out. Bookstore doesn't get many copies, ya know?" she explained to him. Though, she supposed she shouldn't have been going that fast.
"What'd 'bout you? Where were you headed before, we er.." she began, trying to think of the right words, "bumped into each other!" They hadn't really bumped into each other but they almost had.

Taken aback from her raised tone, Matt smiled and nodded "That's right... I was headed to the bookstore too! To snag the new volume in The Trinity series!" Ellie brought up a good point, the bookstore always run out of stock very quickly on their latest books and the ordering process for more books always took too long, as he had learned many times before.
Matt couldn't help but chuckle after Ellie asked him about where he lived. The expression she had given him was something that he had been used to by now. In fact, this happens to him almost every time he gives someone that one-liner. "Believe me Ellie, you'd be surprised..." Matt sighed, after all, try explaining to a resident who has lived in the town all their lives, which is just about everyone, that there is a hidden residence deep within the woods, besides that old creepy mansion.
But then again it's not like it's some big secret that should be kept hidden. "Would you think that I was weird if I told you that there was house, besides the mansion, opposite of the woods...?" Matt fired back with a rhetorical question of his own, but he was curious of Ellie's answer. Depending on her response, he may just reveal more... "In any case, we both appear to want the same book, so it'd be best if we hurried... We'll talk more when we arrive at the store." Matt flashed a grin towards Ellie and quickened his pace on the way to the bookstore. This was a feeble attempt to change the subject but he was half-serious. At this rate by the time they arrived at their destination thanks to that little mishap, they would be late.
[OOC: I told you I was going to run with that idea I had last night >_> With The Three Heroes thing... I just renamed it to The Trinity cause I thought it sounded epic o.o;]

"Miracilous! How'd you know I was going to try and get the Trinity series?" Ellie asked, surprised. Clasping her hands together. Though, Matt was hardly psychic or something. "Hmm.." she mused, "I hope they haven't run out..been waiting forever for that series." she added a smile up at Matt, since he was figuratively taller than her. Mostly everyone else was usually taller than her, not that she minded though. Though, she did think she had grown relatively taller lately.
"Besides the mansion? Opposite the woods..?" Ellie repeated, though more so to herself than anything. She was just trying to understand Matt right. Mostly no one lived, or went into the woods. So, it was a bit strange. "Huh, woods, huh?" she asked, tilting her head again. She had a habit of doing that. "It is sort of strange...that someone would live out there...I mean, it is haunted out there.." she added, though she didn't really believe the rumors.
She walked besides Matt. The bookstore wasn't far so she continued to carry her skateboard underneath her arm. "Hopefully...there's not one copy left or something.." she pointed out as they came to the bookstore.
