It was a nice evening, he guessed. It didn't look like it was going to rain, and there was a cool breeze blowing... but underneath a tree was hardly a comfortable place to live. Being forced onto the streets wasn't a fun experience, as Cloud had experienced twice. First it was of his own choice. Not having a say in it made it worse. All he had were a few changes of clothes that had, thankfully, been at the cleaners and his sword. Not much by any means.
Cloud let out a deep sigh and leaned back against the trunk, looking up at the sunset. Well, if this was it, he'd try to make the best of it. He hadn't mentioned anything to Kairi and Aerith when he'd seen them earlier. They didn't need to be worried about him. He'd be fine out here. I guess I can't win...

It was odd for Aerith to brood. The brunette always seemed to cheerful and glowy, like the flowers she grew and sell. Aerith was wandering Radiant Garden thinking; of what no one could be sure. But as she passed places she usually visited or knew people from she didn't wave or anything but just continued walking, her eyes staring at the ground. Someone called to her and she looked up, and as soon as she saw him her eyes lit up some and she gave a smile. It was weak, but unnoticeable however. She gave him a nod and wave then continued on. She wasn't headed anywhere in particular, she just felt better thinking outside then walking back and forth in her bedroom, or worse worrying her poor mother.
As she walked she remembered the apple tree that wasn't too far outside of town. A perfect place to think. She felt harmonious around plants and trees that was probably one of the reasons why she grew and sell flowers. But to her unknowing she wasn't expecting to find a familiar face there. Sure she had shown Cloud her 'secret place' and it had sort of become theirs, but somehow as she was deep in thought she had forgotten that he sometimes frequented it, perhaps in hopes of finding Aerith there.
Green eyes stared up at the blue, clouded sky. The clouds were a bit gray looking, but not as if it was about to rain. However, as Aerith was walking out of town and towards the tree she saw that the sky became more cloudy and there seemed to be an almost ominous cloud. But, it still didn't seem like it was going to rain. Her predictions, if you could call it that, were wrong however as she wasn't very far from the 'thinking tree' it began to sprinkle and then rain. She bet if she ran to the tree she would be able to not get as wet. So she ran towards it and as she looked up she saw someone sitting underneath it.
Cloud.
She wondered what he was doing here. "..Cloud!" she called to him, running underneath the tree for safety. "What you doing here?" she asked him then looked up at the sky as she leaned against the tree trunk. "...Man, such change in weather.." she half whispered to herself.

Rain. Just great. Another perfect end to a perfect day. He sighed and pulled his legs up so his feet wouldn't get wet, and was surprised to hear someone call his name. Aerith was here. Huh. So she really did come here to think sometimes. Maybe a part of him had been hoping she'd come today and help to lift his spirits. He'd been in a much worse frame of mind since his house was burned the day before. He did his best to smile at Aerith, but it wasn't sincere. Earlier that day, his eyes had been ablaze... but now they seemed rather dull.
"... Nothin'. I guess I've just been in a bad mood the past 'couple days. You said comin' here usually makes you feel better... I was kinda hopin' you'd show up. I could use a friendly face," Cloud said, shaking his head. He didn't need to say anything about what happened. She didn't need to be worried about him. There were more important people to be concerned with. He was insignificant. He sighed and gestured to a dry patch of the ground next to him. "Want to sit down? I think we'll be stuck here for a while..."

Aerith stared up through the branches of the tree, where hardly any rain made it through the canopy above them. She then looked down again at Cloud as he began to explain why he was here (though it seemed that it was not the entire reason). Aerith gave him a small smile as he carefully sat down besides Cloud, her brown hair was a bit wet. And after she sat down she leaned her head against Cloud's shoulder. "Friendly face, eh?" the flower girl asked her mercenary friend. She hadn't expected to see, or meet Cloud here. However, deep down she was glad Cloud was here. After there little run in earlier, she supposed she was a bit stressed, but she didn't want to bother anyone with it that was one of the reasons she had come here. It was her thinking place after all, though she didn't think much.
"Heh..I suppose I could use a friendly face as well.." she added, as she started to feel better. Maybe it was Cloud being besides her. It made her feel safe, that with his huge sword everyone seemed to be afraid of him. That way, if she was around Cloud, no one would bother them. She looked over at Cloud and noticed this sort of look in his eyes, that his eyes seemed a bit..dull.
"So, whats got you in a bad mood?" she asked him, wrapping her arm around his as she sat next to him leaning against the tree behind them. Rain falling around the perimeter of the tree. The sound was soothing however and it seemed to add to the atmosphere that made up Aerith's thinking place. Aerith's eyes seemed to reveal something about her as she looked up at Cloud. That however happy she seemed, she did get into 'moods' though she didn't broad that often or for a long time. But, suppose everyone once in awhile gets into a bad mood or are just not feeling good.
"..I-I'm sort of glad I found you here," though, she had not really been looking for him. But, maybe subconsciously she was.

"... A lot of stuff. You and Kairi could've gotten hurt earlier. Alleys aren't safe places, even for folks like me," Cloud said, which wasn't really a lie. That was a worry in his mind too, but the main thing at the moment was a debate internally on whether or not to let her know what other event of terrible luck had befallen him. He didn't want to make it seem like he was a magnet for doom... but it seemed like he just -was-. Well... if he didn't tell her, she'd just worry about his change in demeanor. Not to mention she'd probably recognize the address when the paper was printed.
"You remember that talk about a house fire in town?" Cloud asked, not really claiming anything just yet. If she knew it had happened, it would be a lot easier (From his perspective) to say. He didn't want to upset her with this kind of news, but... a part of him wanted to say it, and he was indulging that part for the time being. With any luck, it would turn out all right... but since when had he had good luck?

"..sorry about that," she said to him, though after he had come to save her and Kairi, Aerith had been able to handle her own. But, even so she looked down at the ground watching as the rain pitter pattered against the dirt and grass. But, she wondered why he would be in such a mood because of just that? So, she began to get a little worried. She didn't like seeing others in bad moods or even depressed.
"I briefly recall hearing about it from some people in town.." she said to him as she slightly turned her head towards him, her eyes searching his face. What did he have to do with the fire? Had he somehow caused it? Surely not. But, what would be bugging him so much about it that it had gotten him into a bad mood? "..Why?" she finally asked, looking up at him. Her head still somewhat resting against his shoulder.

Cloud hesitated. He looked off into the distance for a few moments, conflicted. Then, finally, he gave a deep sigh. "...Twenty two, Nibel road..." She'd recognize the address as soon as he said it. That was HIS address, and she'd been there a few times in addition to occasional letters. That'd tell her what he couldn't seem to bring himself to say outright. That he was homeless now, and that was why he was really out here. That he'd screwed up again. Basically, those were his thoughts on it. Why did it seem like every time he tried to help somebody, it turned around and bit him in the rear?
"... s'most of why I'm in a bad mood."

As soon as Cloud started to say the address of where the fire had been, Aerith membered where his house was and that it started with twenty two. She started to get a bad feeling that it had been his house that had caught fire. And as he finished the address Aerith's eyes widened in shock. If she had known she would have done something for him. He didn't often tell her his troubles; probably not wanting to burden her or anyone else.
"..I'm sorry," was the only thing Aerith could think of to say. She then began to wonder where he was staying. The only thing that she could think of was that he was staying with his mother, but why was he in such a bad mood because of it? "N-nothing serious happened did it, Cloud?" she asked him, he seemed fine physically. She then began to wonder how or why the fire started. She hadn't heard much about it, and it would probably be in the newspaper tomorrow morning.

Cloud shook his head. He didn't really know what to say. If he ever found that man, his head would be on a pike by the time he was through... but what mostly troubled him was his inability to do a single thing to stop everything he'd worked so hard to get turning to nothing but smoldering ash. His mom didn't know about it; he couldn't tell her something like that. He didn't feel comfortable telling anyone about that; he didn't warrant that kind of concern.
"Everything I had's gone except for a couple changes of clothes and my sword... The whole thing's a long story..." He said finally, his eyes closed. Telling other people about his problems... wasn't something he did often. He wouldn't have been telling Aerith now if he didn't know she would find out as soon as the paper arrived in the morning. And... he knew she would understand his situation. She always had before. "... I didn't want anybody to be worried, but everyone's gonna see it in the paper tomorrow anyways..."

Aerith rested her head on his shoulder as she sat besides him underneath the tree, the rain falling around them. She listened as he began to answer her question. "Well, I'm sure you'll pick yourself up..." she said, nudging his arm some. "And, everyone is pretty caring and I'm sure they'd be very helpful, probably even help you rebuild..Though, you'd probably put down the offer, knowing you.." Aerith said, just messing around some. She looked up at him and half-smiled.
She then looked back towards the sky, watching the rain. "Cloud..I've always known you to be strong and I'm sure you'll recover," she said to him. She then felt like she was rambling and giving him some sort of lecture or something. "Uh, sorry..I'm rambling.."
