So I recently went back to a very old but very dear forum that I was a part of a long time ago. I was happy to see that they were still up and running even after all these years but what I really wanted to see was the area I was most active in... the roleplaying and battle board. Looking at the threads made recently there I was hit with a load of nostalgia and for some reason I ended up looking at one of the very first rp threads I was ever in. As I was reading I couldn't help but laugh at how lousy of a writer I was. I've grown up alot since then not only in age but in writing skill (although I still have a ways to go). So what about yourselves? Have you progressed as a writer, or are you at a point to where you think you are in no need of any improvement? Personally I don't think theres anyone here who can really say that they can't get any better but thats up to them. Lastly to show you what I mean by improvement, heres a link to that very same rp I was in. www.thesacredrealm.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2187

Having just spent 8 months in another country, I can very safely say that I'VE GOT ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT. XD My English has actually gotten pretty shabby, as my Japanese has gotten more into my autopilot. Tanoshikun-- er, not particularly fun, lemme tell ya. xD Hrmmm. My writing's never exactly been bad-- I've been writing for far too long a while! XD Roleplaying's controlling of but one character was very awkward, though. It was my first time really participating in an online community, back on KHRPF, an' I remember being... overwhelmed. XD All of my threads there've been cleaned up to tide the time, and I guess that's that. My first char was quite the Mary Sue as I recall, though. XD Knowing when to show and when to tell was a difficult hurdle for me-- one I've even fallen out of with the Japanese obstacle. XD Managed to find my first ever Canon Audition though! Donald, if you can believe it: kingdomrocks.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=canonauditions&action=display&thread=15013

I always think I need improvement. D: Shinn: that is quite the freeform rp you have there. I have honestly never seen that format before. Wow Rocket. For a first time attempt and at a character as unique as Donald that is pretty freaking amazing. Blast from the past: Hein Envrisham. This, my friends, is ancient. Please don't hold it against me. There was a profile I made before that one but it got me kicked out of a rather high-level writing place back when I still thought necromancers were the best thing since sliced bread and they wanted a low-magic setting. More to the point: I can't find it anymore. Alas.

Unfortunately, all my really early stuff has been lost... namely, my first RPing forum (and only one that still EXISTS in some format) was KHRPF, and Rocket only just mentioned how KHRPF tends to clean up.
That said, my first character was upon creation GARYSTUTASTIC. He gradually developed into a good character, and while he retained his Gary Stu traits, and I probably played him somewhat like one, but I played him enough that the people I played with had fun. (That, and standards were much looser on KHRPF those 5-6 years ago.)
That said, I'm not going to play Xero anywhere anymore, even if I still could. I'm too attached to him. I've learned to not be quite so attached to my characters since those early ones, so I don't get really as enraged and all that when stuff happens to them.
I have developed my signature style of short and to the point, though. I found my comfort/fun zone for RPing, as opposed to back in the day when I still thought length was everything. I'm not saying I can't improve, but I am saying I don't think trying to change my style to be longer would be an improvement.

NiNeLiVeS- Yeah rping back then was so simple. I had alot of fun back then, whats crazy is the amount that was put into that thread. We used to have threads that would go 100+ pages. Now it seems like getting to 10 is a great accomplishment.

I've been doing this for...a long time but I got my start via Yahoo Chat and then we momentarily had out clan move to proboards, which well killed it. So that was my first "forum" experience. Then it went to Gaia with Bilby reviving my interest and those threads thankfully still exist for rememberance sake <.< then it was FM which is gone but while FM was up it was a Naruto site ah good times, then some other off shots and here we are on DS lol
