Seated at the edge of the docks was none other than Destiny Island's Ace Athlete; Tidus! His hands propping him up, back somewhat straight; his gaze was set upon the horizon. He was waiting, his legs dangling over the water. Yes, he was excited...today was going to be spectacular. He had it planned, his theory was sound. Today they'd do a little exploring, this time on a slightly different island than the norm. Most of the kids avoided it due to it's complex setup of trees and caves. Yeah it was darker or at least it gave that impression. Kids used to dare each other to go there, but few ever did.
Not that Tidus was scared or anything, his form was trembling not in nervousness, but sheer excitement. There had to be some treasure there. The one kid who went did his best to make a map. It wasn't much to go by, but it was better than nothing. He already had a bet made that he could fill out the map even more and Tidus never went back on his word. So then, why hadn't he left? Well what's an adventure without company. He invited Wakka and Selphie to come along. Yet he didn't exactly tell them what it was about. They'd sail off from the usual island towards this darker one.
There was a chance that buried treasure was on that island. After all, it was just so mysterious...something was amiss!

"Tidus! What's gotten into you today, man?" asked the familliar accent of Wakka. The older teen came up to the little wooden dock that he and his friends had all built together a while back, where the boy he'd named waited. "You sounded way too excited when you asked me to come out earlier. Something happening today?"
The redhead observed the water and noted that two boats, the ones belonging to Sora and Riku, weren't there. they must have both already gone to the usual place today. No doubt they were going at it like usual when no one else was around to supervise or at least be referee for them.

"Wakkaaa! Tiidus!"
That was the voice of the ever hyper Selphie, her voice..well when she screamed could probably be heard from miles away. She carried her jump-rope in one hand and waved her other in the air as she ran down the dock towards where Tidus was sitting and Wakka had just arrived at. She stopped, quickly, almost not stopping enough as she almost reached the end of the dock.. and would have evidently fallen into the water. "Wooah!" she exclaimed, regaining her balance. "That was close.."
Turning towards the two boys, "Hai, guys," she said brightly, smiling. "So, what's up? Why ya bring us out here, Tidus?" She asked, tilting her head as she bent down some to look at Tidus.

"First Question, do you have your boats ready?"
Tidus gave them both a look, easily described as a "Scrutinizing gaze". Once he got confirmation for or against, he'd proceed to withdraw a letter in a bottle. He couldn't help but grin, that scar of his contorting with the muscles along his face.
"Look what I snagged, it's a map to the Dark Island. You know the one I'm talking about." He feigned a scary face as he directed his gaze towards Selphie a moment. Easing up so that he was standing, he'd grasp his red staff with his free hand. Slotting it to his back akin to a swordsman, Tidus felt prepared. This was going to be a big day for them.
"There's got to be something interesting hidden away there. Maybe there's a buried treasure! So I say, today we become pirates. We'll sail the seas in search of the treasure of Dark Isle. Are ye with me..." His voice trailed off as he looked out to the sea.
"Or do you want to run home, your choice."

"Dark Island?" Wakka asked, sounding as if he didn't believe the boy at first but then sighing and shaking his head with a smile. Of course Tidus was serious. He smiled like an older brother at the young man. "Tidus, you know how easy it is to get lost in that place. I bet that map is something another kid drew on a short visit."
Not needing to be told that he was right Wakka looked over to Selphie and pointed his thumb at Tidus. "I think Tidus needs us to keep him out of trouble today."

Selphie seemed a bit hesitant at first as Tidus explained where they were going. Uuh..that dark scary island?... she thought to herself. She would have to agree to going, since Wakka and Tidus were going. And she didn't want to seem like a scared-y cat and run home with her tail tucked between her legs.
Selphie raised her hand into the air, jumping somewhat she shouted, "Trouble here we come!" She then smiled at the two boys, she was both excited and a little bit scared. But, neither of the two boys seemed scared so she would have to toughen up a little! She focused on the pirate part more so than the dark, scary island part...
"Let's go!" the spunky girl announced, she jumped into her boat. It almost toppled over from her weight but it somehow managed to stay afloat and not turn over.

"Now you're speaking my language, let's set sail!"
Tidus pointed out to the horizon with his free hand, his other still holding onto the map. Of course the map was only partially drawn on a short trip. Tidus was out to complete this map! Fear didn't even cross his mind as he hopped down from the docks to the sandy dunes below. You couldn't spell trouble without a T, likewise you couldn't spell Tidus without one either. Yeah, the two were almost synonymous when it came to summer fun.
Taking off across the white beach, Tidus ran off to where he'd kept his boat. Admittedly it wasn't that much farther from the dock he was on now. Sora and Riku had already left out earlier, he'd been here when they did. Well sort of, he kinda came as they were already hightailing to the island. Sometimes it was best to not keep up with those two. Considering what they were going to miss out on today, a chance for real adventure; Tidus knew how to throw a party. Already he was in his boat, oar in tow, he was ready to get going already.
"Come on guys, treasure waits for no man or girl."

"Selphie, be sure to keep track of where we go once we're on the island," Wakka said to the younger girl in the boat. His own wooden craft was tethered to the craft not far from her's. He untied it quickly and took up his wooden paddles, pushing himself out into the water.
As he got out farther Tidus came back around in his vessel, getting close to the other two again.
"Better hurry up, first mate Tidus! You don't wanna get left behind do you?" he called out.

"Awww, navigator?" Selphie started to pout as she untied her boat from the dock and started to paddle out some. She stopped and looked back to see that Tidus was the snail today, though he had been the eager one to go to the island in the first place. But, she supposed navigator was better than nothin'.
"Slow poke!" Selphie teased towards Tidus, she then giggled but waited for him patiently. Though, she seemed eager, her mind was having doubts about the danger part..
Once Tidus got up besides Wakka and Selphie, she started to paddle out some more away from the dock.

True Tidus was lagging a bit, this was because he was prepared! Yes, he wasn't jumping in recklessly, and no...
"...first mate is reserved for you Wakka. Just follow my lead, I've got this."
The dirty blonde mentioned, his left index finger wipping under his nose before he clasped his oar double handed. The vigour that was pent up within his form was unleashed, his rowing strong. With each stride, they'd be off towards the Dark Island. The journey itself was certainly longer than the usual spot. They had to arch around left, instead of the straight ahead path they normally took.
"Hey Navigator, whatcha think of the site up ahead?"
He had to get her back for the slowpoke comment. The Island seemed to loom over the trio. Tall tree's, the foreboding cave, oh yeah this was the stuff dreams were made of...or Selphie's nightmares.

"Aye aye, Captain. Just remember being in charge means you have to be responsible for everyone," Wakka returned, chiding Tidus with a laugh. The journey toward Dark Island was going to take a while so he made sure to watch Selphie's boat and not pull too far ahead of it. If she rowed this far every day she's be as strong as the guys, but their usual playground was a fraction of this journey. Good thing they were all excellent swimmers.
"Don't let the Captain bother you," Wakka said quietly to Selphie with a smile after Tidus tried to goad her about the island. She was a tough girl though and probably didn't need the support.

"Foreboding..." Selphie grumbled at Tidus' comment, though she did try not to take it to heart. Sure, the island was..spooky, creepy, and dark.. But, she had to stick up for herself when it came to that stuff. Though, sometimes Wakka was there for her. "..of the wonderful adventure we'll have!" Selphie exclaimed to Tidus.
"Straight, ye, ahead!" the dirty-blond exclaimed, pointing her finger towards the looming, dark island up ahead.

"Yeah, yeah I get it Wakka."
Well he did have everyone's well-being in mind, somewhat. Despite teasing Selphie about what she saw straight ahead, he was checking in on her in his own way. Wakka making sure they were okay in his middle position, Tidus could get them to the docking point easier. This was due to additional focus he received based on the group splitting up tasks. Upon pulling up to shore there'd be a red flag on a makeshift flagpole. It was the bandanna of the kid who traversed here before them. He had to leave something to prove he was hear, so Tidus contemplated what he'd be leaving.
Adjusting the bandanna flag down slightly, the bottle was placed atop, just like a crown. That would be how he displayed his mark. Looking straight ahead there was a sandy pathway, the tree's not exactly inviting as they blotted out the sunlight. So far, the map was accurate. Tidus looked forward to when it ran out, that was when the real journey began.

Wakka brought his ship to the beach and then pulled it up out of the water. While Tidus was busy playing with the flag pole he moved to help Selphie beach her's as well and drag it far enough onto the sand that it wouldn't be swept away with the tides. No telling how long they would be out here, after all. The day was still young.
"So, Captain," Wakka said in his usual relaxed accent. The place didn't bother him yet. "You gonna assign us our jobs now?"

Selphie came up behind Wakka, well when bringing her boat up onto the beach of which once he was done with pulling his boat far enough onto the beach helped her. Though, she was capable of doing it herself..she was a little tired from paddling so far in one spurt. She set her paddle into her boat, grabbed her jump-rope and stood besides Wakka.
"Jobs? Aren't I already navigator?" Selphie asked.
The trees loomed over them, the island seemed so much bigger up close. And the trees seemed taller than all the other islands.. Don't think about..don't think about it.. She thought to herself, a sort of meditation to be strong, to be as strong as the guys were. She kept her eyes on Tidus watching him, trying not to look at the island.. At the dark spots between the green trees.
