"Well not jobs, positions First Mate."
Tidus said as he kept both hands on the map for examination. "Wakka you'll be south left tip of the triangle. I'll be the tip of the triangle since I'm Captain, Selphie you'll be south right tip. If anything comes up from the rear, let me know. We'll stagger the triangle a bit as we move. It should eventually have Wakka as an angled tip."
Yeah Tidus really had this planned didn't he? The smile he displayed was just filled with confidence. He wasn't shaken by the moody atmosphere at all. Actually the limited light seeping through the leaves looked like fireflies. That was quite a sight to see but there was more adventure up ahead. For the path up ahead lead to a dark cave. The map as Wakka probably could guess, ended right at the entrance of that cave. There was no telling how the island was laid out from there on out but that didn't mean Tidus wasn't ready for it. He had something special along to help!
"Stick close guys, we've got this."
Thus a brave right step forward was made towards the cave.

Wakka shook his head while scratching the back of it. He was amused by Tidus' attempt to sound prepared. Still, until things looked actually dangerous, he'd let things go as they would. They all were kids, after all.
"Aye aye," he said before turning to Selphie. "Guess we're bringing up the rear for now. Good luck, matey."
The redhead gave her an encouraging smile before he grasped the straps of his back pack, adjusting it to be more comfortable. With the feeling of security he now felt the teen nodded and started after Tidus, fanning out to the left as instructed.

"The rear has a nice view..." Selphie commented as she went to the 'rear' of the triangle, on the right of both Wakka and Tidus, though Tidus was in front of them. She followed, quite, closely to both of them. Every so often fanning more so to the right, she didn't want her fear to be known. She wanted to remain strong! She faced forward sternly, with a little spunk and followed after Tidus.
Moments later...
She tripped on a root that was sticking up out of the path. She landed on the ground, but managed to catch herself before she head planted into the ground. "Stupid..ground..." she muttered to herself, slowly getting up.

It seemed that it was twice now that Tidus had thrown the orange/red head through a loop today. First it was his surprise announcement of meeting up, now it was his "attempt" at being prepared for the venture. Of course, every good athlete knew the value of preparation. Setting up the play was essential for the venture especially since they were about to---
"Heh...I hope so, Navigator girl--"
And then Selphie tripped over the root of a tree. Tidus couldn't help but look over his shoulder, his statement interrupted in mid-speech.
"...you okay? Just remember to keep your eyes on the prize."
His last statement, although somewhat of a taunt was rather weak. Truth was that he was focused for what lay ahead. That Dark Cave which was not mapped out. Taking his first step forward, he popped his head in. There was little light, but enough to see there was some end to it. Motioning for the gang to follow, he slipped out some seashells. Yes seashells, they were bright which helped to reflect the limited light and serve as a trail to get back to their boats.
Yeah adventure was coming, just what lied ahead?

Wakka looked over at Selphie as she fell and quickly checked to see if she had scrapped anything. The girl looked fine so he let Tidus have his say and then kept on. She was a tough one, that Selphe; Only girl he knew who was willing to play fighting games with the likes of Tidus, Riku and Sora. She didn't need him to express too much worry for her over a little fall.
"You have to go right for the cave, eh Tidus?" he asked without needing an answer. The older boy rubbed his head with a smirk. The shells weren't obvious to Wakka in what Tidus planned to do with them, but he guessed they were meant for something or he wouldn't have brought them. 'I guess you've been plannin' this one for a while now.'

"..yeah, right for the cave, eh?" Selphie said, trying not to sound too scared about the fact that there was a cave. Probably a dark one at that, and they were heading straight towards it. She wiped off her knees and the part of her skirt of her dress that had gotten dirt on it. She ran to catch up with Wakka and Tidus, grabbing her jump-rope as she moved to return to the triangle they had formed.
She watched as Tidus planted seashells on the ground, though..Selphie had no idea what they were for. But, when had he had the time to collect so many seashells? They seemed to be endless from Selphie's view..at the rear of the triangle. "..Can we explore other parts of the island?" she asked, not wanting to just go to the cave. Not...that she hated caves, they were just, uh, creepy. Uh! Be strong Selph!...Wakka and Tidus don't seem an ounce freaked out...
She seemed to fall behind some and caught up, guiding her way over yet another tree root. They always seemed to be in her way. "How long have you been plannin' this Tidus?" Selph asked.

"Yes, it's gotta be the cave."
Tidus response was to the point, it even portrayed some sternness which was different from the boy's usual demeanor. It meant this was serious to him, like a big match waiting to unfold. He'd been collecting the seashells for awhile since he actually had two weeks to prepare. Except being Tidus, he only used one week to do so. The first week he was doubting that anyone had even went to the island. Needless to say, he was proved wrong with the map. However to confirm it one hundred percent; he had to get an eye-witness account. The map ended at the cave, no doubt the boy was too afraid to go in there.
Selphie's next question was met with silence, the truth was...the other parts of the island from this port where inaccessible. The cave really was the only way to see more or so the map said. Thus as Selphie prepped her jump rope, so too did Tidus move his free hand to clasp his red staff. His other hand still scattering the seashells, albeit more conservatively as they moved along. The major scare with the cave was that it was just dark. The only sounds, spare the group's footsteps was the sound of the sea. That must have been bizzare. Tidus' eyebrows were raised continuously as the sound got louder.

"Looks like Captain Tidus has gotten serious," Wakka said to Selphie as she returned to the formation. He saw they had both taken out their preferred methods of self-defence and shook his head. They were scared and knew they might get hurt but still wanted to go anyway. It was silly, really. But then, "they" included Wakka himself, so who was he to judge. With a grin the oldest member of the group produced his favourite Sports Ball and held it in the hook of his right arm. His left hand held on to the left strap of his backpack.
"Guess we had better get serious too, ya?"

"...seriously insane." Selphie said underneath her breath, but then added. "Do we have to?" Selphie asked, even though she had taken out her jump-rope first..only because inside she as scared.
Somehow Selphie felt that they were being watched. She looked around wearily. She slightly edged closer to Wakka. They were growing closure to the cave now. She felt her heart pounding, but she didn't want to whine. Be brave...be brave.. But, was reassuring herself going to help that much?
She silently gulped to herself as they reached the looming entrance of the cave, she almost felt a little braver as she had come to it. The next step was to go inside. "Got any lights Tidus?" she asked, only having brought her jump-rope she seemed ill prepared. "Wakka..?" she turned towards Wakka, he was the one carrying a backpack. W-what if they got lost? Did they have food enough for the three of them?

Tidus' back remained strong, confident, yet silent. Having already popped his head inside to take a peak earlier, his form had already stepped inside the cave. Not that he was walking fast or anything, thus he could hear Wakka's statement, along with Selphie's protestations. His scattering of seashells had gotten conservative since the path towards the cave was a lot more straight-forward. The real test for the seashells was inside the cave itself. He'd scattered a few to test. His hypothesis was proven correct, they had an eerie, yet comforting glow to them. Mostly due to the light being scarcely reflected off them. It wasn't exactly a lot but it was more than enough to lead them back.
With his confirmation he then turned to look over his shoulder. It was pretty dark, but the purpose was to yell.
"If you two are so serious, then let's get a move on!"
Captain's orders, once they entered the cave, Tidus would keep moving. His eyes training themselves to follow the limited light left. The sound of the sea seemingly ahead, Tidus took some comfort in it. It meant there was an end to this cave and something better to see on the other side. Yeah, a new story awaited!

"Aye aye," Wakka said, yet again. To his credit the hadn't let it sound sarcastic yet. He was just giving Tidus what he'd asked for, right?
He smiled at Selphie again, trying to keep her reassured. "Don't be scared. I'm right here next to you." is what he was trying to say, without actually having to say it out loud. What he did say out loud afterward was meant to keep an air of pirate business to the affair. If she focused on this as a "pirate game" then she might not be as stressed.
"We're entering uncharted land, Miss Navigator. Hope you're ready."

Upon seeing Wakka's reassuring smile she stepped between the threshold of the sun's light into the cave's darkness. There was probably no looking back now.
"Aye, aye!" the young navigator pepped. With every turn she would remember it, every step sideways she would remember it. She would chart it onto the map. This got her mind distracted for the most part...
"Eek!" she squeaked, she had felt something on her shoulder and had moved towards Wakka to try and shake it off. She checked herself, to find nothing on her person.. She looked towards Wakka and Tidus and gave a exasperated smile. She then stepped forward, concentrating on her task at hand. Yes, a Navigator she would be!

With the trio now inside the cave, darkness spread thick. If they wanted to make it out, they'd need to keep their eyes straight ahead. The gleam of light seemed to disappear at first, but as they got deeper, it re-emerged. Tidus being the ever consistent Captain, made sure those seashells were being dropped. This way, their navigator could do her job later and navigate them back through the cave. Though her little outburst didn't inspire much confidence in that notion.
The athlete simply shook his head, the pent up excitement and the nervousness, tempted him to just break out into a run. He could easily scale this cave or so he thought. However a Captain couldn't leave his crew behind (he was too scared to do so), thus he kept close. When the light got too bright in it's concentration, he held his staff up to shield it somewhat.
"Looks like we'll make it through just fine. When we're out, I'm giving you the map, Selphie."

Wakka almost felt like a third wheel in their little adventure. First mate, was he? That seemed to translate to chaperon to him right now. If was going to act like a kid then he wanted to actually get to act like a kid, after all. Where else would the fun of not having any adults around be? Selphie got to keep the map once they reached new land, Tidus got to order them around. Would he get anything special to do?
Speaking of being ordered around Wakka made his way to adjusting the triangle as Tidus had instructed them to at the beginning of the trek. Selphie's movements closer to his side also helped hat, even if it had only been in response to something she thought she felt.
"Did you feel somethin'?" he asked the girl cautiously.

Selphie looked up towards Wakka for a moment, "Uuh, yah..It was just a bug.." she half whispered, not wanting to seem like a scaredy cat. Selphie charted the turns in her mind, looking somewhat towards the ground and towards the light that seemed to be the exit to this cave. Afterwords she would be able to chart their trek through the cave on that map Tidus had. She continued to move forward, somewhat remaining in the triangle they had formed.
