In a high floor of the bastion of Radiant Garden was the room of a young, redheaded girl. This girl was special in many ways, some known and others unknown, but she was granted a very nice room nonetheless. She had just returned from a little unauthorized adventure of her own out in the town when suddenly...
Knock, knock, knock

Zing! Kairi's body seemed to freeze up and shiver all at once. It was as if an imaginary exclamation point was above her head. It was only for a moment, but panic ensued. A knock so soon after she returned...did she get caught...again? You'd think Kairi was just used to it by now but it was hard to get used to the same speech...or perhaps one could. She eventually turned, thankfully she had enough time to at least switch out from the casual clothes she wore outside. Now she was back in that dress, the usual one she wore around the Bastion.
"W-who is it?"
Better to be safe...than sorry.

Knock, knock, knock came the only reply. It was then followed by a quick knockknock before slowing back down to the usual pace for a final knock knock. A pleasant beat, sure... but it didn't really answer Kairi's question. Not unless she asked herself who would bother to perform such a knock for her.

Considering the circumstances, there was no way it could be anyone of the Bastion. They'd have replied immediately or announced there presence prior to the knocking. Thus it could only be one person, a particular female shinobi...Kairi moved to open the door, keeping along the same side as the door would open. This caused her to seem like she wasn't in the room upon the door opening.
Well it was fairly natural to eventually look to behind the opened door if one didn't see anyone. At which point Kairi would say
"Boo!"
A childish effort but she had to keep Yuffie on her toes.

Kairi moved from her hiding place and yelled her scare to surprise Yuffie. Unfortunately the threshold was completely empty. Not even Squall was in his usual spot in the hallway.
Someone was, undoubtedly, being a Sneak.

Kairi comically peeped outside of her door upon getting no direct sign of Yuffie. This was a bit different to their usual encounters. Yuffie may boast about being a ninja, but "stealth" wasn't exactly her stunning trait (though she somehow managed to get by the guards, so Kairi wasn't going to underestimate her). It still left the question of who was playing knock, knock on her door. It was a bit of a childish prank, so it seemed within Yuffie's style.
The fact Squall wasn't in his usual spot was also strange. Though she didn't recall him there when she had snuck back in either. Was this some sort of surprise?

Thunk went the wall to her left. It came from back inside Kairi's room. Upon further inspection the source of the very light sound would be obvious. It was the end of some sort of tether line falling down against the wall. It was attached to the ceiling just a foot or so from the wall itself and the line was swinging back and forth from the wall like a pendulum.
It was definitely Yuffie's Grapple Line.

Kairi instinctively turned and looked to the left wall. The source of the light sound was Yuffie's grappling hook, which meant the teen ninja was lurking in her room. The question was where? Yuffie was rather fast but the obvious place to look was up. So Kairi did look up, not sure what to expect. If Yuffie wasn't there with a grin, then she'd look first to the window which they always utilized in sneaking out, then back to the hallway once more. Still Kairi did all this with a smile instead of worry. She really enjoyed Yuffie's ninja games and even mimicked her moves at times.
In a way, Yuffie really was an inspiration to the red head. She certainly appreciated/cherished the ninja more than others in RG (Ala Cid or the guards whom she upset with each encounter). It was the start of a game and Kairi was ready to play.

Kairi would see nothing but the adhesive Grapple Line on the ceiling. No smiling ninja greeted her just yet. The Princess of Heart's next stop was the window.
Truthfully, Yuffie had never come into her room before in any way but the window. "Doding all the guards inside the castle would be too much of a hassle" she'd once said. But that knock had to come from someone...
There were no clues to be found at the window, but when Kairi turned around to check the hall again she would find that her door was closed, even though she hadn't done it.

The little match of ninja was certainly heating up. Yuffie was really into it today (assuming it was Yuffie). There was always the joke of being able to "clone" one self, a ninja illusion to be in multiple places at the same time. Yet Kairi's logical brain could not believe as such. There was definitely a trick, the first to catch the other off-guard was the winner. Since Kairi had been playing on simple reaction, she decided to alternate her scope for a moment. The door which was closed was soon opened but Kairi herself hung by the window.
Ocassionally her eyes darted towards the wire, confirming it was still in place and not retracting.

Kairi's eyes darted around the room after she quickly stepped back to her window. The door was open again now but there was no movement there. She looked for other signs.... none so far.
But if not movement... what of something else? Something new was hanging from one of the knobs on her dresser door. The one that was on the wall opposite of the door.
It was a long yellow scarf.

The scarf was a telling sign. Yuffie was effectively using Kairi's blind spots and planting a clue. Except it was more of a taunt, than a straight clue. Could the princess of light really catch the ninja in motion? Rather, how much motion was Yuffie using? It was telling that the scarf was on the dresser opposite of the foor. Kairi with her back now pressed against the wall near the window, scanned the room cautiously. Could Yuffie get under her bed so easily? She couldn't help but become curious at the thought.
There were some other key areas, but Kairi maintained not having her back turned from there on out. At best, she knelled down to try and peak with limited sight.

Under the bed was a shape. It wasn't moving, and it was as far back from Kairi's position as staying under the bed allowed without going through the wall, and it was impossible to make out any defining characteristics with the distance and lack of light that the redhead was trying to view it from...
... but it was there.

Now it wasn't to say that Kairi was afraid of monsters under her bed. She was a big girl, but after encountering creatures whom formed out of red clouds...the skepticism she used to have...dropped faster than the apple that hit newton's head. She made out a shape of something, hard to tell if it was the ninja in action but there was something. So Kairi moved carefully from the wall position, her back no longer safe. Her form tip-toeing comically through her room. She straffed towards her bed, at least trying to keep minimal distance between the wall and her back.
Upon getting to her bed, she hopped onto it and performed a solid gaze around the room. Grabbing a pillow she eased herself to look under the bed further. With a much better view this time, just what was hiding there?

Kairi got over to one side of her bed and started to bend over to peer down into the darkness below it for a better view of what she'd seen. She was going slowly though. A hesitance brought on by fresh memories? Whatever the reason for it was, that wouldn't make it any less taken advantage of. Just before the princess' eyes crested the barrier of the bed's edge...
"BOO!" came a loud but familliar voice from directly behind Kairi, above the level of her bed. It mimicked the attempt at surprise that she had tried to use on whoever had knocked at her door at the beginning of this little "event".
