Yuffie stood smiling as she received her hug, patting the shorter girl on the head a few times until she was ready to ask more questions. Always was a curious one, that Kairi.
"Hey! Who was out there helping you against those Anomawhatsits the other day? That was me, remember?" Yuffie said smugly as she placed both hands on her hips in a confident pose.

"Anomalies, you mean...?"
Kairi stated that trying to guess the proper word Yuffie meant. Though she tilted her head, wondering about the name. Something to ask Ansem the Wise later. For now, she couldn't help but nod her head.
"Yep you were there with me as we defended the Market Place. I can't believe we did it."
Kairi was rather excited about helping the Garden out, in a rather big way. She felt more like a contributing member than a damsel locked up in the Bastion as a result.
"Do you think people will know we were there?"
It was a strange question, but technically Kairi really wasn't supposed to be out in that circumstance.

"Well there was that one girl I pulled out of a group of the things," yuffie said, looking up as she jogged her memory. "But only Aerith and Cloud really saw us besides her, and she crawled away to hide so fast I doubt she saw me anyway. If I'm lucky she remembered and spread word of my bravery and skill, though."
Yuffie laughed at the thought.
"But for now it still got me the best gig ever. Like I said before, a castle under attack increases it's defences. That's why a lot of ninja were hired to take up more guard positions in town and in here. Including yours truly, of course."

Kairi sighed happily, considering the changes that were taking place, she wasn't sure where to begin! Well, perhaps the ninja did know. After all, if they were going to be spending more time together, then she must have had some good ideas.
"So, what should we do first?"
Kairi asked, though she was trying to think of something as she said it. She had suggested training earlier, but it might be a bit much to do right now. She did just sneak back in moments ago. Her little rendevous was...interesting, to say the least.
"I'm glad we were there, in the market place...I mean. Being able to do something for Radiant Garden, even if it was scary...it felt good."
Thoughts of taking that creature out once and for all had flashed across Kairi's mind. It's "death" mostly masked by the red mist, it still made her skin crawl a bit.

"Good question!" Yuffie said, springing away and making a little act as if she was looking around and inspecting Kairi's room.
She was looking out the window with one hand held dramatically over her eyes as a visor when Kairi mentioned feeling good about helping the town. Yuffie turned and looked at Kairi as she said that, a curious look on her face. "Lady Kisaragi" was best known as a troublemaker of sorts but she still went on missions with her clan that helped the community often. It was a new feeling to the princess. This thought made Yuffie smile.
"Well, I've completed my initial inspection!" the ninja announced, trying to sound as authoritative and professional as she could(Which wasn't much).

While they both seemed to be thinking of the next step, Yuffie was inspecting the room, funny enough with her little ninja maneuver earlier, Kairi would have expected her to have the room mapped out already. Thus she had a little response for the ninja body guard.
"Squall does that without making it seem like he does it."
A little bit of hazing for Yuffie on the first day. Since the subject she was comparing Yuffie to was Squall, that'd get the ninja really motivated.
"Come on, let's go walk around the Bastion."

"Excellent suggestion!" Yuffie responded, walking over to her hanging Grapple Line and pulling it down to be recovered. She then turned back to Kairi.
"My ninja senses are much more accurate than that wannabe knight's," she explained, touting herself up rather happily. "My inspection has deduced that, should the castle be attacked and the princess be targeted for acts of villainy, the least safe place for her to be is... her room!"
Yuffie held her right hand out, open palm facing up as if to display the room itself for her point.
"After all, that's the first place they'd look for her! Better for us to move to a less suspicious location. Especially before a certain someone comes back."

Kairi shook her head knowingly in this instance. Yuffie didn't want to share the spotlight with Squall. After all, according to Yuffie, he was a wannabe Knight. That or Squall would ruin any plans for fun the ninja had in store. Being ever curious, Kairi certainly wanted to see these plans through.
"Okay, okay."
Kairi moved towards the door, ready to leave.
"Except I'm not a Princess."
She sighed, which was probably expected by Yuffie before she exited her room and entered the hallway. The Bastion itself was so big, it was hard to pick a location to go. So she'd either let Yuffie choose, or pick a random direction to walk.

"Sure you're not," Yuffie teased as she followed the younger girl.
"Well, Miss Not-A-Princess, as your new secret bodyguard I require a tour of your lovely castle so that I might plan... secret... strategies and things," Yuffie said, trailing off at the end and losing volume. She also raised one hand and waved it dismissively as she finished the sentence. Apparently the reasons why she required a tour were not all that important to her.

Although it seemed like this tour wasn't important to her, it was hard to tell with Yuffie...sometimes, Most of the time. However since Yuffie had allowed the "not-a-princess" to lead, Kairi did just that. Walking along the halls of the Bastion brought up some nostalgia. It was something she did all the time but after the events of the storm, it just felt like she hadn't done it in awhile.
Those creatures had brought with them something very interesting. Gummi blocks, which meant they had "space materials". Master Ansem had been quite interested in them. It meant they could travel to other worlds. In fact, the leader of the garden had made sure to send a team out. It made her wonder what it was like...
"Say Yuffie, have you ever thought about traveling?"

"Nope."
Yuffie waited a few seconds before looking over at Kairi. She decided that her answer probably wasn't sufficient for her friend's curiosity an sighed.
"They always say that ninja go on journeys to train their spirit and focus and blah blah blah blah. Why should I need to go be alone out where there's no people just for that?" she explained further with clear distaste in her voice.

"Ah, I see."
She tried to hide her disappointment, though it was a rather Yuffiesque thing to say. She paused for a moment as they walked the hallways. Then she followed up with Yuffie's line of reasoning.
"What if you didn't go alone?"
She paused for a moment before formulating just the right words in her mind.
"What if you oculd go with friends, kind of like a crew. Except instead of walking you'd fly, through space even?"
Kairi sounded rather excited by the prospect, then again she had been excitied about the idea since Ansem had mentioned it. The ability to fly to other worlds, in the wake of the disaster caused by the strange creatures; they left a rare and unique material that allowed for just that.

Yuffie looked at Kairi as they walked and she spoke. After the girl got out everything she wanted to say the ninja let out a sigh, the placed a knowing but happy look on her face.
"Poor little Princess, cooped up in her castle," she said, almost trying to sue a tone one might reserve for reading poetry. "A door to the stars is opened and she wants to fly away free. Something like that?"
The girl's voice returned to normal for the last part of her statement, her eyes opening up again to look at Kairi with a friendly smile.

"Hey!" Kairi declared after Yuffie decided to state her lines in a "poetic" mannor. Her hands resting firmly on her waist, her expression was rather serious before she sighed.
"I'm just curious, that's all. Who knows what we'd see out there."
The little red head sounded rather passionate about the topic. A genuine curiosity which gave Kairi her ambition to do something. She'd used it to learn those spells of hers. Who knows what else she could do with it.

"Kairi, I'm only going to say this once," Yuffie said. "So listen to me well, OK?"
The usually cheerful ninja was suddenly serious. She spoke the redhead's name with a certain emphasis and looked straight ahead as they walked, her expression all business. She allowed a few moments of silence for her close friend to pay attention.
"No matter where you end up, I'll always be there for you."
Yuffie's head turned back to Kairi, giving her a wink and a toothy grin.
"So there's no need to worry, OK?"
