Five Years Later...
There are many things that repeat themselves in history. Alliances, betrayal, love, war...the list goes on. Every world is forever locked in a cycle that involves many of these elements. War, chaos, turmoil, grief, despair, defeat. Before there is peace there must be elements that must be endured. Soul Society was lucky enough to achieve a calm in the storm. Aizen had been defeated, but at what price? As if it was Aizen's last 'surprise' Head Captain Yamamoto was dealt a fatal blow by Aizen himself. Captain Komamura as well was another victim to by Aizen's accomplice, Gin Ichimaru.
Indeed Aizen was a deadly opponent, however his defeat was an odd one at that. Aizen was not dealt that blow that many wished upon the treacherous man. In fact, Aizen as well as Gin are still quite very alive...alive to ponder and suffer for their failed coup against Soul Society. A barrier with the power of over thousands of Zanpakuto. This barrier was created by the sacrifice of those who were considered 'Ryoka' not so long ago. Ichigo Kurosaki, Inoue Orihime, and Sado Yasutora. This barrier had been transported to the Seireitei where it is closely monitored and maintained by no more than a group of seven Kido specialists accompanied by one Captain class individual. In this case, Captain Unohana had volunteered herself to keep watch over the barrier due to her familiarity with Kido.
In the midst of the aftermath, the lone quincy Uryu Ishida has seemingly vanished. He may have gone into hiding or perhaps is simply avoiding contact. After all he does not consider Soul Reapers as friends. One day there might be an understanding but for now there is still an uneasy stand off between Quincy and Shinigami.
Now that their 'leader' is gone, many Arrancar left in Hueco Mundo have nothing left to do. This has caused internal strife between Hollows all vying for the right to call themselves king of Hueco Mundo. There is an entirely new regiment that has banded together in support of returning Aizen back to destroy the Shinigami despite the man being a Shinigami himself. There are those who oppose it, however with a new group of Espada quickly forming, the hopes of any Arrancar who never wish to ally themselves with such filth are quickly dying out.
Mayuri Kurotsuchi's fascination and intellect brought about his own downfall in the end. Upon obtaining the Hogyoku, many were unsure of its abilities. Even Captain Kurotsuchi was apprehensive about the item's true abilities. With much testing, probing, and various other experiments, the Hogyoku was a play toy for the odd Captain. The Hogyoku contains power that many could not even begin to comprehend, let alone utilize. Creating Arracnar or other species was just the scratching the surface of its abilities. Despite being incredibly powerful, the scientist continued to study and conduct experiments on the object resulting in its own destruction. The Hogyoku's energy imploded on itself creating a spacial vortex which took nearly half of the research and development lab with it. The Captain was never seen again, perhaps the vortex had sent him to a place to study the item indefinitely. Not only did the Hogyoku's destruction cause a loss to the research and development center, it also had abnormal effects on surrounding inhabitants.
Not many were effected, however a few experienced the so called Hollowfication process. Their bodies then possessed both Hollow and Shinigami powers. Many of these Vizards are now held in prison in Soul Society awaiting their fate even though they have done nothing wrong. A few lucky others managed to escape and disperse out into Soul Society and rumors have it some have even managed to escape to the Human World and Hueco Mundo. The current Captains in midst of reorganizing their own Divisions debate the topic and have even separated into two sides. Those against the Vizards and those for the Vizards. Soul Society is once again on the verge of dispute and war. With such high levels of stress, uneasiness, and uncertainty how long can history's calm last? Which side will you choose?
