It had been awhile since they had been at the Dark Island, with chores and stuff mostly in the way they didn't have much time during the day go and explore the island again. By the time they would get there it would be nearing dark, so finally they came up with a day. Selphie had finished all her chores a day ahead telling her parents that she, Wakka and Tidus wanted to do something 'special' on that. Oh, and Selphie has been listening her mom reminisce about her younger days. She had heard all about when her mother and Wakka and Tidus' dads had been friends. She learned all about the treasure the three had uncovered.
Selphie was really eager. It was a sunny morning, just before noon. The perfect time to head out. She had a picnic basket besides her along with her messenger bag packed with any supplies she thought they would need for their third adventure. She had also packed a lunch for them and a few water bottles. Sitting on the dock she waited for the other two, her legs dangling off the edge of the dock swinging as she became bored (but retained her eagerness) as she waited for them.
"Dang...where are they.." she said underneath her breath.

Meanwhile off in the distance:
"So Wakka, awesome stuff earlier, yeah?"
Tidus could hardly contain his excitment. They got up rather early, making sure everything was packed for the long day ahead of them. They even managed to work out a bit to prepare themselves. Thus it was no wonder they weren't quite at the docks just yet. Tidus needed to make a quick pitstop back on the mainland after the morning activities. With everything set, backpack in tow, he walked along the route to the docks.
"I mean if we can get this excercise routine down right, show the results we achieved at the end of summer, maybe coach will use it for the team?"
Yep, the dirty blond's mind was always thinking about Sports. It was the only good thing about school as it was. The last thing on his mind was summer homework, he could just copy selphie's stuff for that!

"Right now we should be more worried about Selphie than the Coach," Wakka said with a tinge of dread in his voice as they neared the docks. The pair had gotten out of chores today and had had plenty of free time to prepare. in all likelihood they should have been the ones waiting for their female companion to show up today, not the other way around. 'Guess we got caught up in our game as usual.'
Eventually the pair did meet back up with Selphie at which point Wakka took stride to get himself closer to the girl than Tidus. "Hey Selphie! Sorry we're late. Lost track of time getting prepared. We have to explore another cave today, right?"
It was Wakka's hope that Selphie would direct any irritation she had at the closest person, and it was him then being older than her might possibly diffuse some of it. Well... maybe. Selphie didn't usually treat Wakka or Riku any differently than she did Tidus or Sora.

Selphie's green orbs had been staring off into the distance as she waited for the pair. They usually weren't the ones to be late..well, actually now that she thought of it they were usually late. But, Wakka usually set them both in place and tried not to be late. She looked to see if they were walking down the dock and indeed they were. She jumped up, standing up as they approached her. She did a lopsided grin, "Where in sands' name have you two been!?" she whined at them both but her voice would have been more effective towards Wakka, who was the closest one to the dirty blonde.
"I've been waiting what seems hours for you two," she added, "I bet your parents made you do a bunch of chores and you're just making excuses," she started to scold towards them. "While, I on the other hand was on time and did all my chores yesterday," she said sounding a bit conceited.
"So, well, since you guys..seemed to 'over prepare' are you ready to head out?" she asked annoyed that they had been late. She had her boat ready for the most part just needed to get her cooler and bag in it. As well as herself. "Well?" she asked, impatiently. "We don't have all day.."

Normally Tidus kept quiet in these difusing situations. Wakka was good at it, even if there was no particular treatment between the older boys or the younger boys. Rather, Wakka was just able to keep his cool and not further the outburst. That didn't stop Tidus from placing his hand to the back of his head, looking a little nervous. The chores thing caused Tidus to laugh nervously.
"N-not exactly Selphie---"
but the girl proceeded on, in a rather impatient manner. After she stated they didn't have all day, Tidus exhaled.
"Right, sorry Selphie...let's get this party started." Tidus resigned, there was no rationalizing with the girl, best to make it up to her with awesome feats. Tidus backpeddle to the mainland for extra preparation served to get their boats ready at least, rather they already were ready since they'd rowed out to the usual spot earlier. As for what he truly got for this adventure, well he'd keep that a surprise. He'd been on a roll with how "prepared" he'd been. He didn't even tell Wakka what the item was, much less.
So he made sure to get his gear into his boat, prepped his oars and was ready to set sail.
"Alright mateys, let's roll out in the usual formation!"
Captain Tidus, ready for another shot.

"Aye, aye. Come on, Selphie. Captain's orders," Wakka said in as calming a way as he could. The boy also proceeded to his own little ship and lowered his backpack into it before taking a seat. The two boys had been basically playing around on the island all day with Tidus insisting that he needed a warm-up. Wakka hadn't been so sure and now he was probably going to pay for it.
'With any luck we won't have as much of a workout on the island itself today,' the redhead thought with amusement as he began to row himself out to sea. If he could just rest and enjoy the Dark island for once then he should be fine for the trip back.
"Ready to chart out a new cave today, navigator?" Wakka asked with a big smile, calling out over the waters to the nearby boat and its young female passenger. Selphie hadn't really liked the first cave, he recalled. Still, after their last discovery, she might have warmed up to the island more.

"Aye, aye!" Selphie pepped raising a fist into the air as she jumped up into the air a bit. She then followed the captain, gathering her things and then putting them into her boat. She put the cooler behind her, her back in front of her. "Oh guys, I made sandwiches.. you think the cooler is a bit much though?" she asked them. It would give them more to carry and what if they found something again? They would have even more to carry.
But, they did need to eat. It was still pretty early and they might be out here till the afternoon. They could always carry the sandwiches in their packs. She grabbed her paddle and then started to paddle out as Wakka asked if she was ready to chart out a new cave. She smiled over at Wakka, "You betcha!" she said enthusiastically. Where as the island and the first cave Selphie hadn't really liked, she was getting to like the island even more than when they had first arrived here. When Tidus' idea had first sent shivers up her spine at the thought of trans-versing the dark island.

With his two mates prepped and following direction, Tidus nodded in acknowledgement. Yes they were going to navigate the Dark Isle yet again. Not only proving the island was actually safe, but also that they were brave enough. When the summer was over, they'd be considered heroes! It made Tidus grin before his ears perked up to Selphie's questions.
"Nah the cooler is fine, Wakka and I can bring back whatever loot we pick up."
His eyes ever gazing forward, he put in a good effort in his rowing this time, ensuring that each slow but steady stroke was capitalized upon. Eventually the crew would arrive at Dark Isle once more, able to dock and look on ahead towards the first cave.
"Alright crew, let's do this!" Tidus declared once his boat was docked. He felt great after that work-out, though he planned on taking it easy through the first cave and such.

"Aye aye, Captain," Wakka said in his usual way. Normally he was the one called Captain, but that was in middle-school sports. Here on adventure it was Tidus' turn. So far he hadn't led them astray, after all. In fact, both trips to the island had ended with them finding amazing treasure of one kind or another.
"I wonder if we'll be lucky enough to strike gold three times in a row?" Wakka asked in his accent before bearing a big, toothy grin. Really, what else could they still find on the place. Actual gold? Unlikely, since pirates didn't exist in this world outside of stories.
"Actually, I'm really wondering more about those footprints we found last time."
The oldest of the teens put on a more serious expression as he asked that question and they all drew to the mouth of the central cave path. If they weren't the only ones on this island then what did that mean?

"It'd be wonderful to find even more treasure, even if it may not be gold," Selphie said, placing her things in her small boat. "Oh, yeah! I was wonderin' about those footprints, too," she said, smilin' over at Wakka as she grabbed her paddle and then sat in her boat after she had untied it from the dock.
She looked up at the sky as she started to head out, "I wonder who they belong to," she said as she started to dream some what. They had seemed human enough, she wondered if someone else had been on the island before them... well they're parents had, but she was wondering about recently. She didn't so much care about being heroes when the summer was over. She was just curious and wanted to learn, explore and find new things. New things opened up whole new worlds didn't they?
She moved out in front, then stopped and waited for Tidus, "Here ya go, Captain, take the lead," she said, being the kind mate that she was. She didn't really care if Tidus got all of the fame and gold, though sometimes he didn't really need a ego boost. She looked towards Wakka and whispered, "Is it safe to be encouraging him?" she asked. After all, they normally didn't call him Captain. It was just they were exploring and it had been his idea after all, but she was a lil afraid he'd get too cocky about it.

Selphie was right to question boosting the sandy blond's ego, after all...Destiny Island's ACE ATHLETE had plenty of confidence and ego for three, but she would rue this not during their expedition but during the school year heheh. For now, the thought on the minds of the trio was "Mysterious Footprints". Had it been possible that others dared to set foot on Dark Isle? If so, the trio wouldn't be heroes...unless of course the footprints belonged to bandits or PIRATES!
Tidus kept his gaze forward, his mind thinking about the footprints before he spoke up.
"Well Navigator, you'll have to steer us to the footprints again. This time we'll need to check the age. Time for us to switch gears and become detectives, what do you say partners?"
Tidus looked to both of his friends individually when he said the last phrase. He of course was concerned because he wanted the glory, but for everyone else, it was just good fun.
Enter Dectective Tidus.

(Ellie said it was okay :U Dunkillmeh) Chores were one of the things Sora didn't have much of. He did whatever his parents told him to, right then, and usually had a fun way of doing it. Today's sweeping the floors, he'd gotten the idea to tie brushes to his feet and do it that way. It was a whole lot more fun that swishing a broom around on the ground, for sure! And now that he was done for that, he was headed to the beach to see if any of his friends were out and about, finished with their chores, too. And they were! He saw Selphie, Tidus and Wakka a ways off, the three headed off towards another island. Not wanting to get left behind, Sora hurriedly got into his own boat and rowed after them, though he was a long ways behind by that point. He was tempted to try to get their attention, but he was a little concerned that his boat would tip over if he did, so he resigned himself to quick, determined rowing. The other three kids were already on the island and talking by the time he got there. He caught some comment about footprints as his boat drifted up behind the other ones. " Hey, guys! Can I come with you? What're we doing?" Sora asked, waving and grinning at his three friends.

Wakka smiled at Selphie's question. Encouraging Tidus? It probably wasn't that great of an idea, but it had worked out for them so far. The oldest of the teens just winked at her, a silent signal that they should just keep an eye on him so things don't get too out of hand.
Wakka listened to Tidus' speech about taking on the role of detectives when suddenly he spotted Sora arriving on the sore. The redhead was actually surprised that eh hadn't noticed they were being followed, but then again the trip out here was so tiring that they usually didn't think about much else but rowing during it. The spiky-haired youth was as curious as ever, it seemed, undeterred by the exhaustion of all the rowing. Wakka walked over to Sora and put his arm around the boy, holding him firmly to his side. What appeared to be a friendly gesture was now more like holding him prisoner.
"It looks like we have a stowaway, Captain Tidus," Wakka said playfully to the youngest boy present. He smiled down at Sora as he said it. "What do you think we should do with him?"

The young dirty blond, and only girl there, listened to her friends then smiled at Wakka as he gave his signature wink. She usually looked towards him for advice; she supposed it wouldn't hurt too much to encourage Tidus. They did need a leader for their little expedition! And she wasn't likely the one to be it. As she was looking towards both her friends; she could see none other but Sora rowing to catch up with the trio. She waved happy to see him, "Sora!" she gleamed towards him, flashing her whites.
She didn't expect to see him here! Perhaps he was heading out to the their island where they usually hung out and spotted the three boats in the distance, heading towards the Dark Island. She grinned at Wakka's comment. "Let'em come with us! He could be like..our prisoner," she pipped in, eagerly to play along.

"Arrrr, he be a spy from an enemy fleet. Where's that scoundrel; Captain Riku?" the sandy blond moved closer to the dirty blond trapped in Wakka's arm-lock. He gave him a faux look of suspicion. Slephie's idea of keeping him prisoner didn't seem like a bad one.
"Hmm, maybe we can use him as bait...Dark Isle may have plenty of dangerous critters..."
Tidus never passed up the oppertunity to show-up Sora, especially since the older boy was somewhat of a rival or rather, a stepping stone to his ultimate rival!
