“...Man is borne to trouble
As the sparks fly upwards...”

When the Angel fell, it was a new beginning for the world. Time had barely started and already the lines of fate had been altered for those who were unfortunate enough to be borne to the Daughters of Man. A new, forbidden race was placed upon Earth, set to mingle with the current occupants. Demons ran amok, creating the whirlwinds and disasters that would shape the continents, the mountains, the seas. Those who were born during this time would not know Hell until centuries later.
Those who were born of the Angel had mixed blood: they were a divine mortality that was never to walk. The years passed and the Angel vanished, leaving behind the scarred remnants of his legacy. The Mundane women died, but their offspring did not. Instead they began a mission: deliver the world its salvation with their own hands. They formed the Covenant: a group of Nephilim devoted to ridding the world of its demonic nature.
The Fae, Warlock, Lycan and Vampire, those who were ancient in their beginnings, did not appreciate the movement. Different races began to kill in silent, cutting down the Nephil numbers swiftly, nearing the point of extinction. It seemed as if the Covenant would never see the light of day, that they would die out, and the world would be left to the mercy of demons.
One morning, at the dawn of the twentieth century, the leader of the Covenant called a meeting between the Seelie Queen, Lycan Leader, Lord of the Vampire, and Head Warlock of the world. They called a truce: Nephilim would only kill those who were rouge, and slay the demons. They would run the world, but the Downworlders would still be exempt from some laws, and have their own territory. This was not a mutual agreement, but it would last until the New World was in order.
The Mundane had no clue of anything, and were blissfully oblivious when a new city popped up. It was unnamed, but the ancient ones slowly crept into its streets and areas. Once inside they built their homes, made their rules, staked their claims. They did not get along: dirty deals happened more often then not.
There is still bad blood between the races, a schism in the worlds. It is unknown what will happen in our future, or how battles will result when the Sparks Fly Upwards.
