Appearance: Rayne is a dashing young man in appearance, with long, brown hair (that he constantly has to brush from his face). He is pale in nature, with vibrant blue eyes and a small, shy smile. Only 5’9”, he considers himself medium of height. He also weighs about 120 lbs, and congratulates himself on the ten pounds he gained during his cardio sessions (Finally, Syn, you got some muscle!”. Rayne has a strange fascination with bomber jackets. He constantly searches for new ones, but normally stays with a long, blue one (Denim, tight around the waist). He normally wears a white t-shirt underneath, with baggy, faded blue jeans. Sneakers are his thing, for their durability, and he doesn’t bother burning them out. His shoes are usually worn-out and dead.
He hides several sets of dogtags on his person… Each of them with different names. KEISHA. OCEAN. KEYON… And SYN.

Personality:•General Persona:
Rayne is the first to say excuse me and the last to enter the door. He is polite by nature, but doesn’t talk all that much. He doesn’t really hold to chivalry as much as he attempts to avoid any negative thoughts relating to himself. He tends to sit away from the crowd and has the worst habit of looking at his feet.
But underneath the skin is a different story. Rayne has the blazing passion of an artist. He loves to draw, scribble, and create in general. His outside personality doesn’t reveal the scars that he hides beneath his eyes. Nor does it reflect the color. He loves to smile and laugh. But when the stress of his memories breaks his defenses, he falls into depressions. He isn’t one to grasp for attention, but chooses to separate himself from them until his anger or sadness goes away.
•Inner Thought Process:
“It feels like they’re looking at me.”
“I wonder if they can tell.”
“That would be an excellent pose for one of my pictures.”
“I want a strawberry.”
“It would be nice to talk to Shannon right now.”
He thinks constantly about his surroundings, and sometimes his memories intervene. A nostalgic person, he relishes the time when he can relive the moments in his memories, even if it is with different people. He constantly thinks about food (because he’s so skinny) and has the bad habit of chewing his fingernails as he imagines eating extravagant meals. An avid music-lover, he is constantly humming or singing, and often scribbles pictures in his mind to the music.

Weapons:
Weapons:
Primary Weapon Name: Virtegon
Primary Weapon Type: A long blade/katana (Melee, short range)
Primary Weapon Description: A weapon of dark metal, it is a one-handed sword that Rayne holds inside of his own body.
KEYON left Rayne broken, his right arm mangled. Luckily, he was saved by a medic at the Dojo... A Moogle, at that. The Moogle grafted the bone back together, creating a metal cast that would hold it until it healed.
In time, Rayne took on the name "Synthest" out of respect for the Moogles, and he even took up the art of Synthesizing. (This will be one of the custom abilities that I hope to make at a later date.) Due to this skill of Synthesizing, he is able to liquidize the blade and keep it attached to his bone when not in use, where the muscle tissue and skin around it had adapted to the metal. (He holds the instinctual ability to "summon" the blade, similar to how many of the Kingdom Hearts characters can.)
Secondary Weapon Name: Fists
Secondary Weapon Type: Fists (Melee, short range)
Secondary Weapon Description: Just his fists. The only weapon he uses, he is quick and strikes hard.

But Your History Decides Your Version of "Responsibility"
History:
Birth
Born in Radiant Garden, he grew up with a small family on a peninsula state. His father’s side of the family were all mercenaries, while his mother’s were farmers. As tradition dictated for the males of his father’s family, he went into training. (Note that this was at the time of the Old Empire, before Ansem the Wise took the throne. At that point, the monarch held a large force of soldiers and mercenaries to rule the lands "with an iron fist", like any ruler would.)
At 12 years old, he began to train in close-quarters-combat, learning the art of self-defense. He found that he loved it, and in time, he dived deeper into this art. That is, until he met KEYON.
KEYON.
A master of the art known as Ninjutsu, this teenager (who had already fought in war at the age of 17), showed him how to use a blade, and how to use it well. He taught the soldier-in-training how to be self-dependant and what the boundaries of the human body could take. Rayne followed him for months, learning from this enigmatic soldier.
KEISHA.
A medic (with the same age and past as KEYON) who took Rayne in as a little brother. Rayne developed an unconditional love for this woman, the woman who taught him the boundaries of human emotion and how to live a promising life. He stayed with her whenever he wasn’t with KEYON. She taught him of the Guardians, who protected the Worlds from a secret enemy (the Heartless). And although Rayne didn’t understand, he accepted her way of life with pure joy.
These teachings continued for months, and both of his newfound heroes began to change. KEYON, the stoic, blank mercenary, developed a love for his younger brother, while KEISHA learned from Rayne’s personality that children were not so immature as they thought in a different manner than adults. Rayne learned an alarming amount of knowledge from the two different perspectives: Love, hope, and healing from KEISHA. Strength, speed, and wit from KEYON.
Then, everything went wrong. KEYON discovered that their government was exiling all of the mercenaries. Just to protect their name. He became infuriated with them and vowed that his clan would cleanse the two-faced government and create a pure society, one that relied on its people, not the malicious trickery that their current one relied on.
(At this point, the monarch was being overthrown, to be replaced by Ansem the Wise.)
He met Rayne in a clearing of the training camp, where he told him…
~~~~
“Rayne, this is it.” He smiled, the warming, cheerful smile of a vampire coming back to life. “We are going to Purify our system. Because I have discovered that our clan, the Guardians, are impure.” He put a hand on Rayne’s shoulder. “I want you to be my Apprentice.”
KEISHA…
Her eyes widened. “KEYON!” She ran forward, the fury evident. “There’s no need for that!”
Rayne stepped back, surprised. Was he… Doing wrong? He was a Guardian, yes, but KEYON had so much sense, so much wisdom…
~~~~
KEISHA was killed by KEYON’s hand, and it was revealed that they were teammates from the war. They both held the same scars, the same knowledge… And KEYON left Rayne to die after Rayne attempted to defend his most loved companion. He still holds the scars from were he tripped, which was an accident that saved his life. Two white stripes slide down his jaw, narrowly missing his jugular veins.
“You no longer have a reason to exist.” KEYON’s scarlet eyes burned with fury. “Your name shall forever be sin.” With that, KEYON turned and disappeared.
ReBirth
Hatred… KEYON left Syn with a disease, one that would forever corrode his Heart. Darkness… An obsidian blade that would forever remind him of his failure. (Virtegon, his longsword/katana that he cannot yet use.)
He was saved by a Moogle as he attempted to carry KEISHA's body back to the Dojo, and the creature spent months healing him, caring for him... So he took the name Synthest. KEYON had said that his name was "sin". So "Syn" seemed appropriate for the day he would kill the man.
His Heart was being slowly eaten away, while his body slowly stopped aging. In ten years, he was stuck at the age of 17 body-wise, while his mind continued to develop. Thus, he traversed the Worlds in an attempt to find a cure. Instead, he found Eden. He heard tales of a World that all souls went to after death, and vowed that he would find that World. He would see… her… again.
And if he saw KEYON on the way, he would slaughter him.
But he was not the only one searching for Eden. A man named Ocean was also searching for it. Ocean‘s soul had been torn, and was searching for his own cure. He believed that if he absorbed every soul in Eden (for he had the ability to eat souls), he could recover his own and once again be normal, happy. The two fought, and in the end, Syn never found Eden. He struck Ocean down with Virtegon, and as the fellow human died, he let go of his dark blade forever. (He thought, anyway.)
Ocean, KEISHA, and KEYON… They were all dead. So he took their dog tags and wore them as a memento to the beautiful souls that had dies by his hand. Even now, he goes by a new name: Rayne. For the tears that he (and his victims) had all suffered, and for the dark clouds he represented, his body still tainted with the incurable disease. In The End of the World, he discovered that KEISHA had never left him. She had been in his Heart the entire time, and she would stay there, forever. She would never leave him behind. So he set out to find a reason to exist, for that was the one thing that he hadn’t found yet.
(The End of the World, the place where Heartless dwell and Kingdom Hearts rests, was the rumored "Eden". He found, in the deepest darkness, that the Light he was looking for was in himself, and left, hoping to find a reason to live.)
So he said goodbye to his friends (Lloyd, Keilah, Yuni) and told them that his time was up. He returned them to their Worlds after their journey, in which each was rewarded with the goal they were looking for, and headed out. Rayne still had to find something, something very important.
Bravery, Love, and a Reason to Be.
Will Rayne find them here?
