"Uh-Oh."
Yuffie covered her eyes as a bright flash of light illuminated the dark corner of the public park she had been sitting in. The ninja scrambled away through branches and bushes, small wisps of light floating around as what looked like a never-ending flash grenade went off behind her.
"Um... hello!?"
She scurried out of the trees and onto the main road of the park. It was late evening and the sun was down. Not many people would even be out here this late, let anyone anyone who could help. Things... didn't look good.
'So I need help, but I don't want any witnesses. This is sort of a tough spot for me,' the ninja realized as she brushed leaves out of her clothes and waved away a few floating sparks.

And here Draconas thought this day would be normal. Nope, he had chosen the wrong place to be, as per usual. Walking through the park, the dark mage noticed flashes of light. This wasn't entirely odd in and of itself, but the way that these bursts of light were was not at all normal. Unfortunately for him.
"Hello? Is someone there?" He couldn't quite tell, but he followed where he thought he saw the light coming from and there was someone there. Oddly enough. "Who...what...why...?" Suddenly, the normally prolific mage was left without any words with which to speak. Wasn't that just irony? The thief had stolen the mage's voice.

In the darkness of the evening it was hard to make out anything in the distance. Still, even with the lights she had fled choked down greatly by the trees and bushes which separated them Yuffie was given enough to catch sight of a certain figure. Humanoid. Yes, that would do. "Oh! Hey! You!" Yuffie called out, spotting the approaching mage through a fresh flash of light from behind her. The ninja, smiling nervously, rushed down the path toward Draconas. He was down the path quite a distance from the cluster of woods that she had emerged from, far down to her right. Her form was shadowed by the light flashing behind her, but as she approached it would be easier to make out the sixteen year-old girl.
Yuffie gasped for breath as she got close to the man, whom she now saw was also a kid and wearing some kind of robe. That was a good sign, right? Magicians wore robes, right? Yeah, sure they did, That was totally their thing. Robes.
"Hey there. Listen, if there's any such thing as destiny then maybe you have some sort of anti-magic field up your sleeve? Or something?" Yuffie asked suddenly. She was leanign forward in front of Draconas, her hands planted on her knees to form some stability so that she wouldn't fall over. The girl was clearly exhausted for some reason and her hair was a bit out of place. She had the look of someone who had just been caught in a small explosion, really, just without any burns.
Yuffie's eyes were pleading to the man to answer "yes" to her very unrealistic question, but her heart knew that she was really just stalling for time to keep from having to mentally register what was going on.

Draconas shook his head. There was nothing he could do to dispel a magical effect, not unless it was aimed directly at him. Then he could displace it on another person in the area, or just move it to the side. "There is nothing I can do for you. My name is Draconas, by the way." He thought that might help matters a little, if they knew each others' names.
"I'll help however I can, though. I might be able to find you someone..." He thought of the other magi he had met, of Kairi and of Jillian. Maybe one of those two knew some way to reverse this effect. What was it even caused from? That was a pertinent question that might just help to know. "How did you get like this in the first place?"

Yuffie's head dropped and the joints of her knees and elbows bent. Her fall from rigidness looked very shaky, like she might just collapse right to the ground. Sure, she knew he would say no, but sometimes you have to hope, right? It wasn't until he started to mention finding someone else that the slumping ninja's muscles seemed to tense again, moments before Yuffie sprung back up suddenly to a full standing position.
"No! Hey! I mean, uh... that's OK!" she said frantically, waving her hands in front of her as the girl's eyes pleaded even harder than before, this time for cooperation rather than expectant hope. The last thing Yuffie needed right now was a huge crowd. At this thought she turned and looked back toward the thicket of trees where she had run from. The light source that was hidden within them continued to flash as more of those small wispy sparks emerged from the site. They were like white fireflies now, increasing their saturation around the immediate area. As of this moment Yuffie and Draconas were far enough away that the lights hadn't reached them yet, though.
"Really, that's fine. And it doesn't really matter how this happened, right? Haha. No need to overreact," Yuffie said as she turned back to the mag again, this time with a big, fake, unconvincing smile on her face. She was trying to downplay the situation but this time even the Great Ninja herself wasn't buying it. Yuffie's right hand rubbed the back of her head in nervousness. She purposefully avoided offering her own name, of course. Luckily he hadn't asked yet so it wasn't too obvious. "I uh... I mean, do you maybe know.... anything about magic? At all?"
'This guy looks smart. And he's wearing a robe, all magician-like. He might know some stuff, right?'
Yuffie didn't think he looked smart at all.

Did he know anything about magic? Does a ten pound bag of flour make a really big biscuit? The answer to the two questions was the same. Of course he knew about magic, Draconas was a mage, after all. "Yes, of course. I am fairly prolific in the magical arts."
Of course, the fact that she kept looking back at where the source of light was emerging was not a good sign. "You never told me your name. And you avoided my question. How did this happen in the first place?" Obviously there was some reason she was hiding, and it was up to the dark mage to find it. Oh, the irony...

"Oh! Good!" Yuffie said, her features lighting up instantly after Draconas' initial statement. She had dared to dream and been rewarded. Truly this was the charmed life of a Great Ninja... crisis that required his presence notwithstanding, of course. Then, inevitably, came the mage's second line of questioning.
'Oh... great,' she thought, now looking irritated. There was time for details later! .... maybe. If she felt like it. Now was the time for action, not questions! At least not his questions!
"Classified information. I'm a time traveler who's been sent back to prevent a great disaster.... and save your life! You are very important to the future, Mr. Drakkenis!" the ninja quickly spun from her mouth without much time spent brewing in the brain beforehand. "Come quickly before it's too late!"
With that the Kisaragi heir grabbed Draconas' left arm forcefully in her right hand and then turned back the way she came, pulling him along with considerable strength for a girl of her size(Ninja, after all). As she tried to pull him into the brink the small white lights that were spewing out from the flashing in the trees continued to expand outward. The small firefly-like wisps started to float all around them again, forcing Yuffie to wave them away from her face with her free left hand. The small magically-charged particles would feel tingly on the skin if Draconas allowed any to touch him.

And tingly indeed they felt. Draconas was smacking them away as he attempted to keep up to the girl. Obviously, that was an outright lie she had spun for him, but he decided to ignore that in favor of the more appropriate question. "What are we headed towards?"

[As you wish]
Operation Make Them Not Want To Ask more Personal Questions(Operation MTNWTA for short) was a success. Now for hopefully continued success in Operation Fix This Mess.
"The the source of the disturbance is located within that thicket of trees," the ninja answered, trying not to lose her way amongst all of the light and sparkles. "We need to suppress it before it goes completely out of control!"
Of course she didn't know if that last part was true but she was rather fond of the time-traveler persona she'd just thought up and wanted to sound all-knowing anyway.

Draconas nodded. All right, finally, a goal of some kind. This he could identify with. Now, it was time to just head out there and fight off whatever the hell the thing that was out there...or spell gone awry...or what have you, whatever it was, it was time it was not there anymore!
The dark mage was running as fast as he could, and suddenly, he leapt into the thicket of trees! ...and ended up landing flat on his face, with all sorts of nicks from branches and such. "Oof."

"Woah, hey!" Yuffie exclaimed when she heard the mage fall down behind her. She couldn't have him collapsing already! He had to fix this for her!
"Um, don't worry you're fine," she said, coming over to him. "You tell the story about how you tripped all the time in the future. It'll hilarious when you look back on it."

Still not buying the story, Draconas got up and nodded. "Lead the way, I'll try not to go too fast for my feet to keep up next time." He began running again, intent on following her to the best of his abilities.
He was still confused as to what this thing was, and what her motives and connections to it were, but...well, he'd figure out when he got there.

It wouldn't be that long of a wait. being in a public park the trees were only so thick and it wasn't far until they reached the central area of this particular patch. Yuffie had to go slowly, feeling out the trees in front of her since looking directly ahead would hurt her eyes. The white light shining at their destination was much brighter at this close distance.
"I think we're here!" she called out to Draconas, hoping he was still with her. The little firefly things were practically pelting her like raindrops now, apparently flying directly out of the light source ahead of them.

Draconas slowed down as he approached. Well, looks like they were there. What that exactly entailed, he had no idea. The dark mage had his eyes closed now, as the light was blinding.
It wasn't as if he particularly enjoyed the light anyways. No, he preferred places that were easier on the eyes. "So, what does that mean for us? I can't open my eyes to see the problem, maybe you could, oh, I dunno...inform me of what it is?" He snapped a little bit, as he was getting bright light in his eyes and had just been essentially dragged through trees and was all cut up and...mrarg. He supposed he'd find out soon what this was about.

"Uh... that's... also classified information!" Yuffie answered back to his demands. 'So classified even I don't know.'
That was the brunt of it, really. The ninja had tampered with something she shouldn't have and this was the result... whatever this was. She didn't know what to call it or how to describe it. Kisaragi was hoping a magically-inclined person might be able to do that part for her.
"I mean, you need to figure it out for yourself or history might be altered in unexpected ways. Use your knowledge and your instincts."
'And maybe some luck?'
