It was an absolutely lovely evening tonight. The moon was out, the sky was clear of clouds, and the ocean was lapping peacefully on the shore. Were Miribelle a lucky girl, she'd be outside enjoying it. Was it a smart thing to be doing out at night? Hardly, but she could care less.
Instead she was working. It was a practical alternative since she needed all the munny she could get. She liked work, too, so she wasn't miserable. Tonight actually was kind of fun, but things could get out of hand in a matter of minutes, so she was making sure to keep an eye out for any trouble.
Her attention was caught by a game taking place at one of the tables further away from the bar. Miribelle made her way over, her curiosity getting the best of her. "Anything I can get you boys?" She asked. Her eyes scanned the faces at the table, then the game the men were playing.

Alabaster smirked, eying the men around him. This game was getting more and more tense, as the circle of men grew closer and more drawn into the cards they were dealt with each passing round. Alabaster himself wasn't doing so badly, but he certainly wasn't winning. He had just a little bit more cash than he'd started the game with, while a few other gentlemen were markedly poorer. Of course there was one man just to Alabaster's right who was making a killing off of the night's game.
And then came Miribelle. The tension seemed to waver as a few men ordered beers, and Alabaster wildly lifted up an arm, asking for a round around the table. Strangely, his gesture accidentally bumped the winner of the night's game jarring him just enough to flash his hand. Alabaster, glanced back up to Miribelle from looking at the man's cards, and winked mischievously. [/blockquote]

Alabaster was instigating the exact kind of trouble that she was to be keeping watch for. She'd seen enough seemingly inconspicuous gestures to know what he was up to without the wink. Lucky for him, his opponent seemed to be buzzed enough to not notice, so maybe there wouldn't be a ruckus. Regardless, the table would probably need to be supervised.
Miribelle pretended that she didn't notice, her expression made it look like she hadn't even noticed Alabaster's hint at all. "Coming right up." She nodded, making her way to the bar to fetch the drinks.
She returned momentarily, setting down the frothy beverages in front of the men. Her eyes locked with Alabaster's momentarily and gave him a stern, warning look. Still, the corners of her lips twitched as she looked away and placed his beer down in front of him. It was all those years she spent growing up with her foster family, it made her pretty excited for a possible fight.

Regardless to say, the winner was a little frustrated when his hand got flashed to the whole table, and began demanding that the cards be re-dealt, but everybody else was quite pleased with this, and they decided to play on. The man quit the game, and stormed off, and the other men distributed the money he'd left behind and kept playing. The arrival of the beers brought a round of cheers towards Alabaster the hero of the night.
And it also brought about the return of the man who'd lost a good deal money in his frustration, along with two gangly looking thugs. Alabaster swiveled in his chair slightly to look up at them, grinning madly. "Brought some friends back to tha table to play cards, have ye? Well, have a seat why don'tcha!" And with that Alabaster received a punch in the face, sending him sprawling into the table scattering cards and coins every which way. [/blockquote]

She managed to step back in time to avoid getting hit, but not fast enough to avoid getting splashed with some beer. With that attitude, Alabaster certainly had that coming. What Miribelle hadn’t been expecting was the arrival of the man’s two friends. Unfortunately, that’d have to be something she’d have to break up. What a shame. Had it only been the man Alabaster had a little bit of fun with, it’d be something worth watching. This situation would just get too out of hand. She sighed, showing a hint of disappointment and also a bit of frustration.
“Now, now, boys.” She said. “I suggest you find a less destructive way to settle your disagreement.” Miribelle doubted this would quell the drunken fools, her tone hardly seemed mildly threatening when she spoke. She stepped between the men and Alabaster and began to pick up the toppled cups in attempt to keep them from advancing.
