Things were peaceful in Radiant Garden. As peaceful as they could get, anyways. Ever since the recent invasion of the unknown force, people had been working to rebuild their town with a sort of patriotic diligence. This was something Ansem the Wise had noticed as he wandered around his elaborate castle. He had a large view of his glorious city, after all.
So why would the peaceful ruler of Radiant Garden be looking up with his master project down below? Maybe it was fate. Maybe it was he sensed something in the air. Who knew? However, it is a good thing Ansem dared to look up in the air, for something was happening.
A large, almost monstrous, beam of bright light shot across the sky. It gave off no heat, no sense of threat or harm... It was simply light. As it shot across his city from no where, the ruler covered his eyes to get a better view. What could explain such a display of magic?
...
"Merlin!" shouted the ruler as he ran into the home of the powerful magician. While he did not think that Merlin would've done something so obnoxious, Ansem the Wise did know, or at least assume, Merlin would interpret the beam of light and its source.
The old magician chuckled as he turned to his thoughtful ruler. "I was almost beginning to wonder if you would consult me, Ansem! I was worried."
"So you saw it then?"
"Well yes... And I've already been working to determine the source of the magic. Very powerful stuff this is. Wherever this came from is very powerful." he nodded. He turned a page in his book. "At the moment, all signs of the magic point to one thing, though a little strange."
"This is already very strange."
"Well, the magic that was used to produce the beam of light is not harmful at all." he exclaimed. "It's only, well, light. But of such great magnitude, I can think of no one on Radiant Garden capable of accomplishing such a feat."
Ansem's eyes narrowed. "What are you suggesting?"
"Well, to put it simply, if no one on Radiant Garden could have pulled that off, someone not on Radiant Garden-- or from, I suppose-- must have cast that spell. Truly impressive power, though execution needs some work. Seems oddly rushed, if I may spec--"
Ansem's palms slammed down on Merlin's table. "Merlin, there are very many decisions which must be made in a very short amount of time. I'm sorry my friend, but there's little we can afford to speculate just yet."
Merlin nodded right away, "Too true, your Majesty! Very well then, here's the gist of it: the spell appears to be a call for help."
"Help?" Ansem inquired curiously.
"Well, yes. If this other world wanted to start a fight, they'd add a bit of a punch behind that spell, wouldn't you say?"
Radiant Garden's ruler nodded. "And no organized group of people would try to start peaceful communication with an unknown group in such a manner as this." Ansem went to leave. "Merlin, I'll be needing your help with something. Could you come with me to the castle?"
"I'll be there right as soon as I grab my notes... that is, if we're going to start on what I think we're going to start." The old wizard smiled knowingly.
Ansem the Wise nodded. "And I...
"...I shall be giving my apprentices a new project."
