Red mist flowed from the skies, concentrating oddly enough on the rooftops, far out of Sparring Yard's reach. Even from here though, the sight of that old foe, the Pioneer Anomaly, was clear and fresh enough in memory and tale to know what fate seemed at hand in this world.

BANG!

The barrack doors burst open, with a solitary animal being thrown-- no, it was a person!

...

Both?!

An animal, some kind of striped feline, stood on hind legs as tall as any man as she(?) recovered from the blow.

A side glance of hers caught sight of-- well, you.

"What are you doing?! Hide or help, now!"

Though she seemed a bit on the bossy side, she was clearly a professional of some kind. The stance she assumed with her bared claws was testament to that.

And the fact she wasn't running from the group of Pioneer Anomaly flying through the door was too.

Yuffie felt a bit bad about not rushing to the courtyard, but Jillian had probably headed there and the ninja felt like it was a good idea to move around and check for any out-of-the-way Anomaly attacks. The events of the invasion on her own home were still fresh in the girl's mind. At the sound of a loud crack Yuffie jumped down from the wall she was running across and looked over the current field to the woman knocked through the door. When she was spotted the lady offered nothing but harsh words and got back into the fight herself.

'Strict, huh?' Yuffie thought with a smirk before motioning with one hand at the creatures pouring forth. A hidden ninja seal activated the magical art known as Fire, but a second art known as Delay Spell subdued its appearance. 'Well, I'll forgive you since you've got guts. Time to show her how helpful I can be.'

Yuffie had a lot to prove to herself on this mission. She had trained hard to become better since the last appearance of the Anomaly. Now it was time to see if it had all paid off. The lady was standing in one place, waiting for the monsters to come, so Yuffie launched herself up and over the native with an Advanced Jump Boost, taking her large 4-Point Shuriken in both hands behind her and whipping it overhead in a downward power throw. The weapon would spin like a buzz saw directly toward the path of the lead Pioneer, strengthened by Yuffie's skill as a Ranged Weapon Student. Whether it struck home on the monster or not the weapon was almost certain to be stabbed into the ground once it hit.

The girl herself would continued to fall forward in her own momentum with a somersault and fell to land not on the ground but on back-facing point of her own ground-embedded weapon with her left side toward the monsters and her right toward the local, her feet protected by her own Blade Handler abilities. Lifting her right leg to spin in place without slashing it off on the top point the ninja released four Throwing Stars from her left hand, aiming all of them into the body of a Pioneer to the cat's left with her Ranged Weapon Student skills as she also landed down on the ground that side of her 4-Point Shuriken after the twist.

The female ninja was not very powerful when compared to her elders, but this was certainly quite a display of her strength and ability as a warrior. Her large four-pointed throwing star hit the anomaly on the head with deadly accuracy (+1 Damage), the momentum keeping it moving so that it would become stuck in the ground as the woman had planned.

The other anomaly were slow to react to this new threat, she did act quick after all. Their lack of readiness was greeted with a similar fate as their brethren, a bit of damage to catch them off guard. However, Yuffie did miss two of the beings, and they were sure to react to her.

One of the lucky Pioneer's turned into a ball of fire and propelled themselves at the ninja. It hit in her in the stomach and sent her backwards off of her make-shift pedestal.

The other four monsters rushed at the ninja as to follow up with their assault.

Yuffie flew back from her position next to the 4-Point Shuriken, but her right hand which hadn't thrown anything during her twist off the blade was ready. Hovering ahead of the upward-pointing shaft the hand grabbed the bladed portion of the 4-Point Shuriken like a handle and pulled it out of the ground, taking it with her as she was knocked backward by the flaming tackle of the Pioneer.


"That burns, you jerk!" the ninja yelled mid-flight as she threw the weapon back the way she had come from to counter-attack, directly toward the Anomaly that had hit her. As she landed from the blow but kept her eyes on Pioneer #5 as her Delay Spell ceased its effect and Fire was cast upon the creature. Yuffie watched it diligently even as she slid to a halt on her back across the grass, her ninja observation skills emulating Scan Lv1. What she really was looking for though was a visible clue as to whether the spell had hurt the Anomaly or if it was not phased at all. She knew these things used fire to attack(Her hot midsection was a fresh reminder) so she wanted to check if they were resistant to it as well.

After sliding to a stop the ninja quickly front-flipped with four three Throwing Stars held between the fingers of each hand. "Are you just gonna stand there? Not that I need the help," she said casually to the nearby woman without taking her eyes off of her attackers. These six total stars were unleashed upon the approaching Anomaly with a horizontal sweep of her arms, 2 at each except #5, upon whom she had already set a spell.

The fire spell hit the Anomaly as it reared back in pain. It did not expect such a sly attack... No resistances detected.

The large shuriken that was thrown at the flaming anomaly broke as it hit the moving flames of the chaotic being. The damage was partially deflected.

However, the rest of the shuriken that Yuffie had thrown, though smaller, had done full damage to all of the group except #5, to whom had managed to avoid the attack.

The beings grew mad and all charged at the female ninja with their flaming bodies... Except #3, who stopped flaming and seemed to be a tad bit worn out... [Noticed by Scan]

"Tough nuts to crack, huh?" Yuffie commented as she saw the damage done to her 4-Point Shuriken. Well, there were plenty back home but now was the time to live in the moment. Four of the creatures resumed their attack after she had successfully stalled them all before, save for one. The ninja ran headfirst into the quartet of living fireballs but suddenly was out of their attack range and behind them after an Advanced Dodge Roll at point blank range.

If her roll was successful then the ninja would be right in front of Pioneer #3 with the rest hopefully distracted by her evasion and would unleash a Flash of Fists attack upon them, enhanced in power thrice and accuracy twice by her skills as an Unarmed Combat Student. the ninja's weaponless hands filling the creature's field of vision with a rapid assault.

If she had underestimated the damage dealt to her by the first attack and the flaming tackles were stronger than an Average ability then she would end up just crashing into one of them, which would be decidedly less fun but worth the risk.

The daring ninja ducked under the rapidly moving fireballs, only receiving a partial burn for her skilled maneuver. The anomaly to which she unleashed her Flash of Fists upon vaporized into mist as it was greeted with a barrage of well-aimed punches.

The other four anomaly however, soon took note of their fallen comrade even though they did not look or even hear the mindless creature be disposed of. However, as they turned around, they soon began to float backwards, away from this new threat.

They began to run toward a newly-opened hole in the castle wall... One that was about fifteen feet up off the ground. It seems another threat was lurking around here...

A threatening growl was being heard inside...

Yuffie smiled in a self-satisfied way as the first Anomaly fell to her assault. 'Not bad but I should pick up the pace,' she thought, turning around to face her other opponents. The ninja frowned to discover the lot of them retreating through a hole in the castle wall, though.

"Hey! Get back here you cowards!" Kisaragi said as she picked up the now 3-Point Shuriken and its broken-off blade in her two free hands, putting them away. She couldn't just leave Wutai property lying around so she also scooped up the Throwing Stars that were lying around as she looked over at the cat woman. Despite appearing so calm and capable she hadn't raised a finger.

"I guess you were the one who should have hid," the ninja said jokingly, but in reality she was thinking of her failure to contain the Anomaly. 'Inside the castle is definitely the last place I should have let them get!'

Determined and swift Yuffie ran into the opening herself, looking for sign or sound(Like growling) of monsters that would lead her back to her prey, arms crossed in front of her with a single Throwing Star held in each like daggers as she ran and ready to attack or defend.

An electric blue cackle hit the air, and soon after, the Zealous Boy Wonder, Cree was sent flying across the sparring grounds to end up in a rolling ball of dust, a few feet behind Yuffie. He jumped up, looking about in a daze, before blinking up to the great ninja before him and waving, scooping his shield into his hands.

The growl came within the dark depths of the newly made entrance. It seemed that whatever made the hole had managed to land on an upper floor of the elegant castle; a dark one at that. A very thick aura came from the darkness.

Fury

Large footsteps were heard coming from the dark hallway. And there it was.

Chaos

A seven foot tall, flaming, and rather large monstrosity appeared in front of the two combatants. It's eyes glowed with a unmistakable rage. It wanted something.

The four Pioneer anomaly were around the large monster, hovering like the little gremlins they were.

The new enemy stomped it's left leg into the castle floor, sending a four-foot high shockwave of flames at it's foes.

"So you guys are finally ready to get serious," Yuffie said confidently as she came to a stop before the flaming creature. She didn't have a good look at it amidst the fire. Was it humanoid or bestial? Did it have any weapons? Though she didn't know right away, her Scan Lv1 went to work again as soon as she saw it and she hoped to know soon enough. Behind her came the sound of footsteps, but they didn't seem to belong to the lady before. "Whoever you are back there I hope you're ready for the fight of your life!"

If he would hear Yuffie's warning was unclear, as that was when the new Anomaly slammed its foot down and sent a short wall of fire barreling at them both. With plenty of headroom under the tall castle ceilings Yuffie happily leaped and flipped over the flames by about 4 additional feet, unleashing two Rising Suns as she did so. The twin bladed rings flew through in the air in arcs, one heading for Pioneer #1 and another for Pioneer #4. 'May as well clean up my first mess before I start on the second.' When she landed Yuffie immediately thrust her hands at Pioneer #5 three times. Right, then left, then right again. The spells of Fire, Ice and Lightning would go off in quick succession.

She was probably setting herself up by going on such an offensive on the little guys right away, but Yuffie was somewhat of a mix between sweetheart and egotist. She wanted the big thing to target her and not the new arrival so she stayed close and attacked something else to seem like a good target. After all, who knew how useful or useless they might turn out to be? Yuffie Kisaragi was a Great Ninja and would handle herself just fine... she hoped.

Cree peered over his shield, blinking at the darkness. The skin on his neck prickled, uncomfortable with that darkness. Nervously he flicked off a spell toward the woman before him. Protect her... He whispered to the thick air. She had barely appeared to have broken a sweat, and with the sounds of the battle ricocheting every which way, that seemed impressive. Besides. Cree really didn't want to have to face something scary.

As the wave of fire came at him he placed his shield before him and shot off an Ice Arrow enhanced by the strength of his affinities to ice ( Mage and Elementalist ). Hopefully that would put enough of a dent in the fire for his shield to protect him from the rest of it. Then looking back up to Yuffie, he shouted one last spell. "HASTE!"

Yuffie's acrobatic antics saved her from the wall of flames, while Cree's magical ability managed to work with the same result. The pioneer anomaly were also easy targets for Yuffie's various attacks, all of her offensive maneuvers hitting with pinpoint accuracy.

The Bouguer Anomaly however, did not take kindly to this ninja's lighthearted feats. The massive enemy rushed forward at Yuffie, enchanting his fist with Flame Infusion. It moved fast- much faster than a normal human. As it approached a five-foot distance from the ninja, it let lose it's massive fist toward the ninja's head... {3 Damage if hit, Protection accounted for}

The pioneer anomaly- the three of them left anyways, went after the lesser of their foes- a child apparently. They floated toward the child and as they neared it, rushed forward in a flurry of flames. (4 damage from each Anomaly)

Putting so much effort into her spells to take out another opponent would have left the ninja in a tight spot, but she suddenly felt a surge of power from an outside source. She felt tougher... more durable. But on top of that she also felt a second power soon after. Faster... the world around her was moving slower. The Bouguer came toward her at a frightening pace, but with her Acrobat agility and the effect of Cree's Haste the ninja did a full retreat, rushing backward away from the beast's punch as it singed the air behind her.

"Nice tricks! I've got the middle one!" Yuffie claimed as she skidded to a halt in front of Cree, three Pioneers coming at both of them now. 'I'm definitely keeping this guy around.'

True to her word Yuffie rushed Pioneer #2, leaving #1 and #4 to pass her sides toward the boy. Actually, she wasn't quite that mean. To help Cree out Yuffie's two hand loaded three Throwing Stars each and loosed them with outward whips of her arms as she rushed forward, sending 3 each at the two Pioneers. The flames would probably protect them as it seemed to enhance their defences earlier, but hopefully they would make at least some dent in these numbers and with her level of ranged weapon skill.

A different skill came into play against Pioneer #2, whom she had rushed head-on. Normally her outward throws would have used up all the time she had to defend herself, but her enhanced speed allowed for one last-second maneuver. As the two would collide Yuffie produced the large part of what remained of her 4-Point Shuriken, now just a bar with two bladed ends and one smaller perpendicular shaft in the middle with a bladed end instead of two crossing bars. Holding the long shaft at both sides of the smaller one she held it forward and allowed the Pioneer to ram itself right into the point of the weapon. With her skill as a Bladed Weapon Student Yuffie would thrust until contact then twist the bar violently to her left as she leaned back to slide blow the Anomaly on her back, toward the larger beast still bearing serious threat to them. Her hope was that, though the smaller remaining shaft on her Shuriken would likely break off, she could at least throw the Pioneer's path off course so it wouldn't reach Cree yet and possibly deal some harm to it at the same time, the remains of her weapon left broken behind her as she slid along the carpeted floor.

Cree looked up into the air, biting his lip anxiously as the fire broke in a hole around him, embers scattering off his shield. Would the ninja be alright? He couldn't do this alone. He needed help. If she got hurt- And then she dodged back and landed before him with perfect calmness.

He drew in a deep breath, steeling himself. He had to do this. He had to help her, just in the same way that she had helped him. Dropping the shield at his feet, and pointing one hand at either of the oncoming Pioneers, one hand glowed blue, and the other bright yellow-white.

"BANG!"

Simultaneously, an Ice spell surrounded Pioneer 1, and a Light Burst spell encased the other.[/blockquote][/size]
