Appearance:
Personality:•General Persona: If one were to even crack open a history book, no matter what world they find themselves residing on, chances are that they would find some evidence of past monarchs, long deceased and having moved on to new locales. Namely, the Underworld. But that's not the point. The point is, there are a number of traits these monarchs likely have in common, with one or two exceptions every now and again - generally, they are ruthless, bloodthirsty, unpleasant people that treat even the people they had known prior to their respective coronations as though they were worthless. However, despite the fact that he himself has been king for a number of years, Mickey Mouse could not be set any further apart from this 'norm' if he tried. Far from being ruthless or unpleasant, Mickey is actually an incredibly amiable, charming individual, who, believe it or not, has not forgotten his friends and loved ones, despite his position. Granted, one could pin this to his not actually being of royal lineage, and therefore not having been taught the behaviours of a regular monarch-to-be, but certainly, it's a good thing that he's as kind as he is. As a matter of fact, Mickey puts his loved ones above all others, and would go as far as to admit that they mean the world to him, if one were to inquire - it's a major part of the reason why he appointed so many of them as members of his royal council. Not so much favouritism, as many (Pete) have suspected, but more so that they were close at hand, and so he could ensure their physical and emotional safety as best he can - as far as he's concerned, being king puts his friends in danger, and he would do whatever he could to ensure that they remained safe. As an aspect of all of this, it's worth noting that Mickey is almost like a dog, in a way... if a dog was somehow transformed into a walking, talking mouse. Namely, he's incredibly loyal, and would do anything for his friends, without fail - and even when it comes to complete strangers, if he makes a promise to them, he will keep that promise unless something makes it virtually impossible for him to do so. To the king, loyalty and trust are key.
Another aspect of his personality that sets him apart from the textbook definition of a monarch is that he's actually an incredibly friendly, outgoing individual, rather than being a cruel recluse, as many other kings seem to be. For as long as anyone can remember, all the way back to his time as Pete's deckhand, Mickey's been an amiable, outgoing individual that just liked being around others. A 'people person', if you will. He's never had any problems with associating with people, both old friends and new acquaintances, no matter how many differences there may be between him and the person in question. In a way, Mickey's the textbook definition of an extrovert - he's always been the kind of guy to prefer the presence of others over silence, and it's a major part of the reason why he has as many friends as he does: because of the fact that he's not afraid to just go out there and introduce himself to new people. However, this isn't the only reason - another major aspect of his friendship with so many is simply the fact that he's as peppy as he is. Despite the fact that he's a king, and he often finds himself engaging in unpleasant business such as ordering (reluctantly) his subjects around and banishing fat cats, he still manages to keep this upbeat, fun nature that he's become known for, which can truly be considered to be astonishing. Not only that, but he just refuses to let anything get him down - he believes himself to be the key factor in his kingdom, and feels as though, if he were to succumb to 'sour grapes' syndrome, or just develop a rather unpleasant demeanour, he would be causing all of his friends and subjects to feel the same way. That, and he's just the kind of guy that's always been an optimist - always seeing the glass half full, and believing that Donald wouldn't go ahead and run away if they got attacked; that kind of stuff.
As with anyone, however, Mickey has the negative sides to his personality as well. Sure, he's a mouse, but that doesn't mean that he's free from the normal flaws a human being would have - and incidentally, rare as he allows them to be seen, his flaws can actually be rather major, depending on the situation. First and foremost among these is an aspect that ties right back into the protective nature he feels in regards to his friends - this flaw simply being the fact that he has a tendency to care a bit too much, putting him in that area of being over-protective, in a way. Though, indeed, he is much more optimistic than the average being might be, he has become a bit... paranoid, admittedly. His constant fear for the safety of his friends has simply put him in constant fear for their safety, and has caused him to do whatever he can to ensure their safety, even if it means putting himself in harm's way. Another flaw to his personality can be found in a fiery rage that he has within him, rare as it is seen. Should one of his friends be injured, or should some outside force attempt to harm them, there is a very good chance that he would fly into a rage which, despite his small stature, can really be quite terrifying. In such a situation, he would stop at nothing to ensure that his friend who was hurt/taken from him is avenged, no matter what the cost. Though it's certainly worth reiteration that this side of him really isn't seen very often - such is the good side of being so protective; his friends aren't in nearly as much danger of getting hurt as they could be.
•Inner Thought Process: As far as Mickey's concerned, his friends and loved ones take precedence over everything. They're his everything, and truth be told, he wouldn't give them up for anything in the world. Along with this, he's incredibly protective of them, and he often finds his thoughts turned to their safety and happiness, no matter what situation he might find himself in. Certainly a flaw, and yet something to be admired, as well - he'd sacrifice himself if it meant ensuring that his loved ones were as safe as he'd want them to be.
•Fears: Not much, actually. Despite the fact that he's only a little over two feet tall and doesn't look very imposing, Mickey's actually an incredibly brave, bordering on fearless individual. He's not afraid to put himself in harm's way, if it's for a good cause, and finds himself facing all manner of things that would generally be considered dangerous. If anything, the only thing that he fears is the safety of his friends, but... that's been covered already, of course.

But Your History Decides Your Version of "Responsibility"
History: The early life of Mickey Mouse is, generally, unknown. What can be known for sure is that he was born to humble parents more than eighty years ago, and right from the day he was born, he had that charming, amiable smile and outgoing nature that he would become known for in years to come.
All throughout his young life, Mickey was a troublemaker - everyone around knew it, and he had no problem admitting it. However, though one might expect this to cause his fellow residents of Timeless River to dislike him, that wasn't the case at all - yes, he was a slacker, and yes, he enjoyed playing a prank every now and again on his unsuspecting monochrome neighbours, but they all knew that he had the potential to be a friendly, upstanding member of society, and therefore put off his playful nature as a sign of his youth, more than anything else. However, one such prank found him attempting to sneak the anchor off of a nearby barge in the middle of the night, only to be confronted by the ship's captain, Pete. Dropping the anchor in his shock, Mickey accidentally injured the cat and found himself suddenly in his employ to help do the tasks that Pete now could not. However, even when Pete's foot had healed, he remained in his employ, unable to get away as a result of the guilt that he felt for causing the accident in the first place.
And though he did, indeed, feel remorse for his actions, that did not mean that he was very fond of the idea of working hard. Rather, whenever he got the chance, he would find himself sneaking away from his task to seek out some out-of-the-way hidey-hole in which he could rest and avoid his boss's tyranny, even if only for a little while. Many of these rests took place hidden behind the one aspect of Timeless River's landscape that didn't exactly match the monochrome decor of the area - the Cornerstone of Light, a large orb composed of light in it's raw, untarnished form. Many days spent behind this object, when combined with his naturally ambitious nature, combined to form an incredibly majestic image inside of his head - thoughts of a Timeless River without it's bland, monochrome design, instead filled with color and life. And though he still found much of his time occupied working under Pete's rule, he worked alongside the other residents of the River, each of whom he had formed a special, long-standing bond with, to bring his idea to fruition.
And though many of them had been somewhat reluctant to have such high aspirations, the majority of them eventually came around.
It was in this way that Disney Castle was formed.
Over a decade of hard work and never-ending enthusiasm had succeeded in bringing the young mouse's plans into reality, the Castle and it's adjoining town, an area in which the residents could live, as opposed to their rather small, dull homes of the past. And though he had intended for his ideas to be for the benefit of everyone, he found himself being honoured for his accomplishments in a number of ways - first among these was the attention of another young mouse, a pretty young thing by the name of Minnie. The pair found themselves growing closer, and eventually wed, in order to commemorate his other reward for developing the River into it's current state - being crowned as King, despite his reluctance to accept the position.
However, his newfound position caused a problem for the young mouse - he developed quite a bit of fear for the safety of his friends and family. As a result, he appointed them positions where they could remain close to him, and where he could manage to keep an eye on them at all times. And, in order to be able to defend his kingdom in the case that someone wished to harm him, he took up a sword forged specifically for him and learned not only how to defend himself through the use of weaponry from the captain of his royal guard, Goofy, but how to utilize magic from his court magician, Donald, whose family had been able to harness magic for as long as anyone could remember. It took quite some time, but eventually, he was able to fight (arguably) better than anyone else in the kingdom, and therefore, was fully prepared to defend his kingdom on the off chance that someone should wish to harm them.
The first sign of danger came at the annual Town Festival, at which a mischief-making, deceiving Pete attempted to cheat to win the Million Dreams Award. After causing an uproar as a result of being called on his unfair play, Mickey was forced to have him taken into custody and banished from the kingdom, though he knew he had no way of truly keeping him away forever. From that point onwards, things remained completely peaceful and safe. Until recently, anyway, when ominous clouds appeared, unexplained, upon the horizon.
And Mickey couldn't shake the feeling that things were about to change in a way more drastic than any of them could imagine.
