The young dirty blond sat at the edge of the dock which was on the small island she and the 'gang' usually hung out on. She swung her feet over the water, trying to contemplate on what to do. No ones' else's boats were here yet; so she figured she was the first one here. She sat quietly, humming to herself. She didn't have her usual jump rope with her; simply because she could not find it this morning. She had literally jumped through her whole room trying to find it. She'd scavenged through her closet, underneath her bed, in her drawers. Toy box. But, yet had come up empty handed. Plus! She had had to clean up all the mess she made while rummaging through all her stuff.
She was surprised to be the first one here. None of the boys had told her that they may be late, or had things to do. They usually hung out here everyday; unless they had something else planned. She leaned back onto the dock, looking up at the blue sky, sighing. If she could have found her jump rope, she could be training. Or just jump roping. But, no! She couldn't find it. And, she always had it with her!
Sitting up she looked towards the way the gang would come from the main island. She saw a speck in the water. A boat! She couldn't make out the figure in the boat, but it was someone at least! She stood up and began waving; a small smile on her face. She was glad to see someone else arriving. She was getting a little lonely.

The figure on the boat was Sora, one of the aforementioned 'gang' that hung out so often on that island. He was a little late, but he had a good reason; his mom had given him a few chores to do before he left the house, and he couldn't just leave without doing them. But, anyways, he was on his way there now, rowing away with his back towards the island the five friends almost always played on. And it wasn't even very far from the main island, either, so that made it all the better. He cast a look over his shoulder to see if everyone was there already, waiting for him (And to make sure he wasn't going to hit anything), and saw the familiar hair curl of Selphie, the only girl in the circle of friends. Sora freed one of his hands from the oars and waved back at Selphie before fully docking his little rowboat and hopping out onto the dock What a great day! The sun was shining brightly, and there were only a few clouds in the sky; no sign of any summer storms today! The man on the radio said there weren't supposed to be any showers, too, and his dad had agreed, so it had to be true, right? Sora turned and grinned at Selphie... who looked a little sad... and a little different than usual. " Hey, Selphie! ...Is something wrong?" And then he noticed; Selphie didn't have her jump rope! THAT was what was different! " And where's your jump rope? I thought you would've been using it. Is anybody else here yet?" Full of questions today was the spiky-haired boy, but with some good reason; he was curious and a little concerned. He hated it when his friends were feeling down about something.

"Sora!" she called to her friend as she could make him out better as he rowed closer to the island and then docked. She smiled at him somewhat; glad to see him but there was still a little bit of worry and disappointment on her face. It seemed Sora could see that.
She frowned lightly. "Uuh, I lost it," she pouted towards Sora. "I spent most of the morning ravagin' through my room!" the young girl frowned, biting her lip. She didn't really like asking the others for help; though usually offered it. But, she couldn't live without her jump rope! It was like her thing, like how Wakka had his ball and Tidus had his staff.
She then looked up at Sora, her eyes going all pouty. Her lips moving into a pout. Her eyes gleaming, " 'suppose you could help me find it? Unless, you had something to do.." Though, it didn't seem like he had anything really planned. But, maybe he was going to train like Wakka and Tidus usually did, leaving Selphie to herself; though she did not mind joining in they just didn't usually offer. She frowned again, awaiting Sora's answer.

"Sure, I'll help you look for it," Sora replied, smiling confidently at Selphie. She didn't have to pout to get him to help; he would have done it, anyways. Be it Riku, Tidus, Wakka, anyone; he was just a nice guy like that. Not to mention he hated seeing his friends upset about anything. "D'you remember where you were playing with it before we all went home yesterday? You might've left it somewhere around there." He suggested, trying to remember where he'd last seen Selphie on the island the day before.

"You're the best Sora!" Selphie flashed Sora a smile as they stood there; but it soon faded as Sora asked he asked where she played with it last. She bit her lip as she said, "I don't even remember taking it home with me!" frustration showing. She didn't remember taking it home with her yesterday; but couldn't remember where she had last played with it.
" I suppose we could search the island, but that might take all day!" another frown. But, the only thing she was sure of was that it was on the island, somewhere.

Sora thought for a minute, crossing his arms and frowning in concentration. The last place he remembered seeing Selphie was by the clubhouse, so... "Maybe you left it around the waterfall. I think I saw you playing with it over there yesterday. Let's go look!" He said cheerfully, leading the way.

Selphie thought for a moment and then scuffled after Sora as he led the way, walking calmly besides him now. She couldn't really remember where she had been playing with it last; but looking near the waterfall could be a start. She just hoped that it wasn't like right under her nose or something. "Uh..so..do you know where everyone else is? I've been here a good ten minutes and you're the only one else here," she said to her brown-haired spiky friend. She was curious as to why no one else was here yet. But, she supposed that they might have had some extra chores or something, or their parents unexpectedly had them go somewhere. Selphie didn't like being alone; she'd rather be with friends and having fun, so she was glad to have Sora's company. She usually hung out with Wakka and Tidus so it was good to spend time with Sora. Even if they were just looking for her lost jump rope. If she didn't find it on the island then she would have to do some more chores and save up to buy a new one. She did love her old one though; but the thought of getting a newer, better one was inviting.

"Really? I thought everyone was already here; I didn't see anyone when I was coming," Sora replied, looking puzzled for a moment. Where WAS everybody? But, Sora's look of confusion was fairly quickly replaced with one of determination, him scouring the area intently, hunting for Selphie's lost jump rope. He knew she loved the thing, but it was kind of old... maybe this was a chance for her to get a new one? But still, she'd be upset if she couldn't skip rope or use it in their mock combat situations, so he looked just as hard as if her toy had been brand new. "Are you sure you haven't seen anybody else today?"

"Nope, if they were else where on the island their boats woulda been at the dock," the young girl explained to her fellow friend. It was strange to say the least, she usually wasn't the first one here or usually met her friends on the dock on the main island before heading over.
The thought crossed her mind, 'I wonder..maybe Wakka or Tidus took my jump rope, nawww they couldn't have. They wouldn't play that bad of a joke on me, they know how much I love that jump rope!'
She briefly smiled at Sora, "Oh well, at least we have something to do.." she said as her eyes looked back and forth as they walked towards the waterfall which wasn't all that far from the docks. Their island wasn't that big but it was big enough to play on and to loose something on. That something being Selphie's er, weapon of choice, her favored jump-rope that she had been given some odd years ago by her mother. She scuffled her feet in the dirt as she looked down. She was beginning to get a little torn up that she had actually lost her jump-rope.

Sora finished his scouring of the area... but no jump rope! Maybe it was somewhere else. "Well... it looks like it's not here. Let's try looking around the little island where we play fight; you might've dropped it over there," Sora called, already headed in that direction. It wasn't too much farther away, plus there was the tree. She might have left it there. He hoped they found her jump rope soon; he wanted to play something, or run around or something like that. But then, on the other hand, Sora would have offered to help even if the other boys had been here, so it would have been the same situation. "I'll race you there!"

Selphie scouted the area with her eyes as well, but came up empty handed as well. She shrugged, still a bit disappointed. She didn't know where she left it last and didn't really feel like searching the whole isle for it. It would probably take all day; cause they might have to research some places. She wanted to have a have fun but not without her jump-rope. She like went everywhere with it, it was like a security blanket for her.
She raised her eyebrows as Sora suggested they race there. She then suddenly got a boost of energy and ran ahead of Sora, "Catch me if you can!" she pipped, looking over her shoulder as she raced towards where they usually play fight. She smiled and stuck her tongue out briefly at Sora.

Sora laughed and put on a burst of speed of his own, catching up to his younger friend and grinning. He poked her arm and stuck out his own tongue at her. "I caught you!" He laughed, unceremoniously tripping over something and effectively landing face-first in the sand. Well, at least it wasn't as bad as the time he ran face-first into the tree. He pushed himself up and brushed the beach sand off his face, glad none of it had gotten in his eyes, and turned to look at what had tripped him up. His blue eyes gleamed victoriously as he untangled a length of rope with a red handle on either end. He stood up and pumped his right fist into the air, with Selphie's jump rope clasped firmly in his grip. "Hey, Selphie! Look what I tripped on!" He called out triumphantly, grinning even though his face still hurt a little from landing in the sand on it.

Selphie looked over as Sora poked her and stuck his tongue out back at her, she continued running forward wanting to beat him. And it seemed she had, but as she looked back she saw Sora sitting in the sand. She was going to go and help him when he called to her, pumping his fist into the air, which held her jump-rope clasped firmly in its grip. A big smile spread across her face as her eyes lit up. She jogged over towards Sora "Oh my gosh! Sora! You found!" she said happily and hugged him lightly.
"Now!" fist pump, "We can go do something fun! And guess what, Sora! It's going to be your choice since you found my jump rope," she took her jump-rope from him and hugged it. She then looked over at Sora and asked, "So wha'd it be? A race? Fighting? Um.." she chimed trying to think of what they could do.

Sora thought about Selphie's question for a minute, a contemplative half-frown showing on his face. What should they do? Selphie had been wanting to learn how to fight better, hadn't she? That gave him an idea, and he beamed at the girl. "Weren't you saying that you wanted to learn how to fight better the other day? I could help teach you; it'd be a lot of fun, and then it'd be more fun for you if you could compete better!"Sora gave her a thumbs-up, his grin widening. "So, wanna practice fighting?"

Selphie started to grin ear to ear at Sora's suggestion. She would have never guessed that he would suggest that. She smiled brightly, "Really?" she asked, it wasn't often that one of the boys asked if she wanted to practice or play fight. She usually watched from the side-lines or something, or was support for either Tidus or Sora against Riku or Wakka.
She stood some ways away from Sora and held both handles of her jump-rope, arms guarded some in front of her. A smile still plastered on her face. "Let's go!" she shouted at Sora confidently.
