Sora crossed his arms and frowned a little in thought, but his face quickly lit back up with the idea for the next activity. "How about one of those play fights we have? Sound good?" He suggested, grinning.

A play fight? That was an odd choice of words for Sora to use, but Wakka figured they were just tired from the race. After all, he'd been making Sora do all that swimming right before. At that memory the redhead grinned.
"Are you sure? I don't want you saying you were just tired if you lose," the older teen taunted.

"No way; I wouldn't do that, Wakka!" Sora replied looking a little displeased before shrugging and grinning confidently. He hadn't noticed it, but the sun was starting to go down in the sky now; maybe three, four o' clock by the way it looked. Still, plenty of time. "C'mon, Wakka, please?"

Wakka laughed again. Of course Sora wouldn't do that. He was too headstrong.
"All right, lead the way to the dueling arena," Wakka said with a gesture of his hand. Of course by dueling arena he just meant the large area of beach sand on the other side of the island.

Sora, of course, was all too eager to do so. He led them to the smaller island connected to the bigger one by a small bridge, wooden sword in hand. "Okay, we'll play by the usual rules; the first person to hit the other one five times wins, and don't hit the other person below the belt," Sora said, his grin turning to a serious look as he took his usual stance, running at Wakka and swinging the wooden sword three times at him. Wakka followed Sora and nodded at Sora's explanation of the rules. The boy was a bit too eager though, as he charged headfirst toward Wakka. Wakak on the other hand could attack Sora before he recahe dhim with hsi sword by throwing his Sports Ball directly at him. The short distance and Sora rushing in would make it harder to dodge. In the meantime, Wakka would rush off to his right side after the toss, keeping his neck turned toward the opponent.

Unfortunately for Wakka, Sora's reaction was to hit the sports ball with his sword. When he did, the rubber ball went almost straight up, embedding itself in the top of a coconut tree. Sora looked up at it, and then back at Wakka, giving a sheepish grin. "Eheh... I'll get it; sorry about that!" He said, dropping his wooden sword in the beach sand to tackle climbing the tree.

Wakka just grinned and shook his head at Sora's immediate dropping of the duel. That was just like him. Other people might have just continued on, saying it was Wakka's fault for a poor choice in weapon, not that the redhead actually thought of it as a weapon anyway.
"Don't worry about it," Wakka said in his usual relaxed way as the younger kid began to scale the tree. They were all used to that activity so there was almost no risk of falling involved for them at this point. "You gotta defend yourself."

"Yeah, but it's no fair if one of us has a weapon and the other one doesn't," Sora argued, still scaling the tree. When he got close enough, he bopped the ball back in Wakka's direction and slid back down, grinning and giving his older friend a thumbs-up.

Wakka caught the ball above his head in both hands. As Sora slid back down the tree the redhead performed a light underhanded toss that sent the orb in a weak arc right into the back of the kid's head as he reached the bottom. It bounced off lightly without any harm and rolled across the sand back to Wakka's feet.
"You forgot to call time out," he said with a shrug and a laugh.

"Looks like I did, huh?" Sora replied with a laugh, retaliating by quickly closing the distance and sending a quick volley of four strikes in his older friend's direction. [hp=4/5]

With his "weapon of choice" at his feet Wakka countered Sora's approach at point-blank range by putting his soccer skills to use. The Team Captain kicked the Sports Ball hard with his right foot, aiming it to fly up at an angle. With Sora coming it it would zoom in right to his lower stomach area and keep his attempt at a flurry of blows in check. Wakka himself would Dodge Roll to the side in case any of the fellow teen's attacks still made it past his counter.

Ow...! That one hurt! But Sora wasn't just going to let himself lose over a hit to the stomach, so he quickly pursued Wakka, sending four more swipes his way as the orange haired kid was coming up from his roll. [hp=3/5]

Wakka knew he'd been asking for this, but with Sora using a "real" weapon his little sneak attacks were his best friends. The brunet was a slippery one to tangle with. Fortunately for Wakka, not as slippery as Tidus or Riku. Sora had a nasty habit of being completely absorbed in his offence. A wooden sword struck down on Wakka's shoulder and the on to his back, but before the third connected Wakka's body had finished turning around in a spinning counter-move; his usual defence when pressed at close range by his play-mates. Wakka's empty right hand would aim to plant itself flat against Sora's chest as he spun into him and push the younger teen away hard off his feet.
If Sora was as caught up in attacking as usual Wakka was sure he'd be able to send him onto his butt in the sand and buy time to leap toward his Sports Ball to re-arm himself.

Sora recovered from being pushed fairly easily, managing to only stumble rather than the usual falling on his rear. "Here I come!" Sora exclaimed, striking out twice at Wakka with his wooden sword. Things were getting interesting.
