Wakka was back to his feet with his Sports Ball held firmly in both hands. He grinned at Sora's declaration but stood his ground this time. He used his ball as a shield, keeping it held and bouncing Sora's sword swings off of it rather than letting himself be hit.
After two blocks Wakka performed the same spinning attack again, but this time aiming to knock Sora back with a ball in his right hand instead of empty air. Sora had been pouring on the long combos, so it surprised him when he wasn't seeing a third strike coming his way mid-spin. It made Wakka unsure that he had a real opening.

Sora raised up his sparring weapon quickly, blocking Wakka's counter attack and following up with two of his own. "I'm gonna get you this time, Wakka!"

Indeed he was. Caught attacking at the wrong time, Wakka was ill-prepared to defend himself and suffered a fresh rap to the chest. Sora's second blow was avoided by a Dodge Roll to the brunet's right. Wakka didn't rise to face his challenger however, but kept running once back to his feet toward the wooden docks.
"You can't get me if you can't catch me!" he taunted, confident that he was faster on foot than his spiky-haired friend.

Sora laughed, dashing after his older friend to try and catch up. If he couldn't, then he was sure Wakka would end up pinned in a place where he couldn't run away. He'd just have to watch out for Wakka's ball if he threw it.

If he threw it? Well then Sora might just be caught off-guard. As Wakka ran forward his Sports Ball fell seemingly by accident out of his arm cradle and down to the sand, caused by the movements of the redhead's torso as he looked back occasionally to see if Sora was catching up to him. In the midst of his running Wakka stepped clean over the sphere and would apparently be leaving it behind by accident. That is, until he slammed his other foot down and the previous one snapped backward, kicking the ball with his heel to rocket back toward the quickly-approaching opponent's knees.
