Stranded Fish (Sora, Open)

"I think I'll get it," Sora decided, not noticing she went off to another topic for a second. Then he snapped back and nodded in reply to the question about the island. Maybe Riku was there doing something and the two of them could hang out with Selphie. Or something. "Okay, I'll help out! Give me just a minute and I'll be ready, okay?" He asked, scanning through the skateboards and picking out a black one with white markings. Buying it went quick (Especially since he'd gotten paid for some odd jobs the other day), and he was back by Selphie in just a minute, board in hand.

"Okay, so let's get to work! What kinds of things does your mom like? I bet we can find something to give her before we even go to the island today," Sora said confidently, grinning. He wasn't much of a shopper, but hey, maybe they could find something with two people looking.

Selphie smiled as Sora said that he would get the skateboard. It suited him and the guys better than it did Selphie though of course she may ask to try it out sometime. It seemed fun and all but she didn't trust herself with her own balance. Selphie waited patiently for Sora near the door as he bought the skateboard.

As Sora rejoined her and asked what things her mom would like. She thought for a moment as they exited the toy store. "Uhm.." Selphie said thinking, looking down at the ground. She then smiled a bit towards Sora, "You see, I'm not really sure..I thought about giving her some kind of jewelry but she always gets jewelry and stuff from my dad.. I want to give her something special, ya know? Something that no one else would usually give her. Sora crossed his arms and looked at the ground, frowning in concentration for a minute or so. That was how he looked when he was thinking; if he didn't focus on it, he'd get distracted by something else. Then he grinned and snapped his fingers. "Hey, you know those little star charm things that the sailors make for their families? Why don't you make her one of those? They're supposed to be special and unique; nobody else could give her something like that if you made it. I could help you find the stuff for it, too."

"Oh! Awesome!" Selphie blurted out at Sora's idea. She would have never thought about that. She put her hand to her chin, thinking. "What should I make it out of?" she asked Sora. Thinking she began to think to think of what stores were around here and what they might have that she could make the star charm, or as others called them Wayfinders. She remembered a trinket place that had some junk and stuff, which might have things perfect for making the star with. They could also check out some other stores, but at the moment she couldn't think of any other stores.

"Um... I dunno," Sora admitted, shrugging helplessly and giving a nervous grin. "Maybe some stuff that's, like, symbolic... or something like that. Like, stuff both of you like to do, something that represents that. I think. I dunno; I don't think I'm making any sense," He said with a frown. He knew what he was TRYING to say; 'Make something that represents what you like to do together.' But putting those kinds of things together wasn't what Sora was for. Riku did that kind of thing.

Selphie listened to her brunette-spikey haired friend and she got the gist of what Sora was trying to say and she would have to think upon that while they looked for things to put it together with. Something that symbolized the daughter and mother relationship that Selph and her mother had.

For now she walked down the street after exiting the toy store, making her way towards the trinkets store which she couldn't remember the name of. While walking she also looked for other stores and places that she might be able to buy things from to put this present together.

"So Sora.." she was about to say but wasn't sure what exactly to say. "Hm...how's your parents?" she asked him. It was the first thing that came to her mind. They normally didn't talk about their parents and/or life at home. She wasn't even sure what sort of relationship Sora had with his parents. She wondered if they argued or not. Selphie rarely argued with her parents and was really close with her mom, who had been friends with Wakka and Tidus's parents. She wondered if Sora's parents had known Riku's parents before the two became friends.

"Oh huh..weird and random question, but how'd you meet Riku?" she added, curiously. Selphie herself had met Riku through Wakka and Tidus as well as through school, even though she was a two years behind.

True to Selphie's suspicions, Tidus was caught up with something or another. This time it was...errands. Yep, Tidus was hitting up the shopping district and was getting some stuff for that mom of his. Of course he had plans to find Riku and challenge him today. He'd even practiced a few cool tricks but...he hadn't seen Riku in the longest and Sora...well he hadn't seen him in awhile either. It was mostly Wakka and Selphie, they did a lot together. There was their Dark Isle expeditions, there was fishing...so many things, it was amazing they found time what with everything else in their lives.

At the moment, Tidus was looking through the list his mom gave him. Walking rather absent mindly towards the trinket store, when suddenly he looked up ready to complain:

"Come on Mom, do you really need---Woah, Sora...Selphie, what are you guys doing here?" the sandy blond questioned, raising his left eyebrow as he looked to both of them. Something was...different but he couldn't put his finger on it.

Hey, it was Tidus! He thought he'd seen somebody familiar. Awesome; it was always more fun to hang out with more than one person. Well, usually; it was hard to try and spar with a bunch of people around... But they weren't sparring, so he didn't mind. Although, his sudden appearance kind of interrupted Selphie's question, so he didn't catch it.

"Hey Tidus! We're just out looking around. How 'bout you?" Sora asked, grinning. Always good to see a friend, especially his -other- rival.

"Tidus!" the dirty-blond haired female practically squealed as she saw her dark blonde haired friend. She frantically waved her hands towards him, almost bouncy up and down her curled up hair bouncing as she did. Eagerly she made her way to her friend, if she could call him a best friend she would but all her friends were of equal treatment even if she did not hang out with Riku or Sora as much. If she could, she would call them all best friends!

A smile now on the young girl's face as she was happy to see her friend. "Tidus, I thought you had things to do." she pointed out. Maybe he was free to hang out now! "I decided to drag Sora along to go shopping!" she beamed, almost playfully. It hadn't been her intent, she just wanted to do something else for a change. "I'm surprised he hasn't complained yet!" she decided to joke. She then smiled over at Sora.

"Woah hey guys, I know you're both happy to see me, but please; one at a time." Tidus flashed a slight smile as his friends approached him. He then held up the list of errands his mom gave him.

"I do have things to do Selphie, my mom has me running errands. Though I suppose you guys could tag along with me for a bit, then once these erands are taken care of, we can get to the island? Who knows, maybe Riku and Wakka are already there." Tidus mentioned as he looked to the list. Just seeing how many things he had left to do caused him to visibly wince.

"Geez mom, you're totally blocking my fun today." he mused to himself but with Sora and Selphie around, it made the boring stuff...fun.

"Hey! I don't complain about stuff! ... Not usually, anyways..." Sora retorted, rubbing the back of his head and smiling in a cross of nervousness and his usual happy-go-lucky personality. He was tagging along with Selphie because she asked... and too, he'd gotten a skateboard out of it. But that was a fortunate byproduct; he wouldn't have even known it was there. Besides, it wasn't like they were going to girly stores or anything.

"Well, the more we work together, the faster we can get your stuff done. Then we can all go to the island; I bet Riku and Wakka are already there wondering where we are," Sora suggested, giving Tidus a thumbs-up.

"Oh, errands..sounds fun!" the young girl said sarcastically. She didn't really mind errands as long as she had fun doing them. Like, sometimes her mom would go with her on errands or visa versa, and they would visit places on the way and talk non-stop.

Selphie was suprised by Sora retorting towards him. She had only been kidding by it. "Come on, Sora..I was just kiddin' with ya," she said to her young friend then turned back to Tidus. "So, what kind of errands? And, I think Wakka was busy as well..though, he might be free by the time we get finished. Who knows."

Tidus looked to both of them now before sighing in relief. "Great, happy to have both of your help, thanks." He nodded to each of them before he revealed his list of things to do.

• Do your back to school shopping [Supplies, your UNIFORM, backpack,etc]
  
• Ingredients for dinner (you can invite your friends over if you see them)
  
• Pick up a Special package for your father at Town Square
  
• Get the mail
  
  ~Mom

Once the two got a good read of it, he'd place the instructions back in his pocket.

"So, there you have it. This list just reminds me that Summer Vacation's almost over. I hate hearing anything to do with school but it can't be helped." Tidus sighed, clearly not happy with what was on the horizon.

"Oh well let's try to have some fun with this at least." the last part he said looking towards Selphie with a grin.

"Me and my mom went shopping for school stuff the other day; she said this one store was having a sale. I could go pick that stuff up for you, if you want," Sora said, giving a smile but almost failing at it. It reminded him of school, and he didn't like school. He was good at his classes, but he hated having to sit still for all that time. It just wasn't in his nature.

"Alright!" Selphie said rather energetically. "I am somewhat good at shopping for dinner, I've gone with my mum many times," she explained.

Selphie also didn't like to see the summer end; so she pouted a little. "I haven't gotten my school supplies yet, probably use supplies from last year. But yah, I need to get those dreadful uniforms..." she frowned. She hated those uniforms. She would have much rather wear something else, besides those things. Even a guy's uniform!..

"But, should we split up to get everything?..It might be quicker but.." she started to say.
