Selphie had called Sora the night before and asked if he wanted to do anything today; she had known Wakka was busy with babysitting his younger brother and Tidus had some things to do. So Selphie didn't want to spend the day at home, plus it was fore-casted that today would be a beautiful sunny day and she didn't want it to go to waste. She asked him to meet her at her house around one, which would give her enough time to do any chores her mother gave her to do.
Selph packed her messenger bag with anything she might need and actually brought some of her saved money along. She hadn't gone shopping lately and they might have gotten some new things in. Hopefully Sora wouldn't mind going shopping. She wasn't sure about Sora but Wakka and Tidus usually didn't like going shopping with her. They usually started complaining before they even got there. Something about girls taking forever to shop or something like that. But, she wasn't just any girl. She was Selphie. And it wasn't like she was a girly-girly or anything and took hours to try on one outfit. She hadn't asked if Sora would mind going, plus she didn't really know what else to do. Maybe they could just walk around town or something or maybe go over to their island.
Selphie sat on the steps in front of her house waiting for Sora.

Sora hadn't really noticed (Or paid attention to) his recent growth spurts. His dad had said something earlier that morning about him 'growing up to be a fine young man', but he hadn't gotten what they were talking about. Now that he noticed, his pants only went to the top of his knees now, and his jacket was shorter than it usually was on him. His voice was a bit deeper, too. Or maybe his dad had been referring to going to meet Selphie today, he hadn't really been paying attention when he left the house. He was tugging at the bottom edges of his jacket when he got to Selphie's house, putting on a big grin and waving.
"Hey Selphie! I hope I'm not too late; whatcha up to?" He asked, knowing that she'd called him because she wanted to do... something or other with her. He hadn't seen Riku today, so he figured he may as well tag along. Maybe they'd do something fun, or see something weird. Or both. Selphie wasn't quite as boring as most of the girls at school-- Might've been because she'd hung out with himself and the other guys rather than the girls at school. Not that he'd ever minded. He put his hands behind his head and grinned again. "So what're we doin' today?"

Selphie looked up to see her brunette friend with a big grin on his face as he waved at. She waved back, standing up from the steps she had been sitting on and went to go and meet him. "Hey, Sora!" she pipped towards him, smiling as she stopped in front of him. "Naah, you're not late I just got out here a minute or so. Mum made me do some chores." she explained.
Selphie hadn't had all that much time to really hang out with Sora, well sure she hung out with him with the others and all but they didn't much hang out with just them. Also, she didin't know that much about him. Like, what he liked to do and stuff, what his dreams were and such. Perhaps this was a chance to know him better. She was closest with Wakka and Tidus. And Riku and Sora were more closer with each other. "Hey..You wouldn't mind going shopping, would ya?" she asked, tilting her head to the side some hoping he wouldn't mind. Even though she was doubtful that he would want to go, she remained her happy and upbeat self. He probably thought it typical that she wanted to go shopping of all things because she was a girl. Truth be told, it had been weeks since she had actually gone shopping. Sure she had gone grocery shopping with her mom.

Good to know he wasn't too late. He would've felt bad if she'd beet sitting out here waiting for him for a long time. Although, had he been the one waiting, that minute would have dragged on and on in his mind just sitting there. He was a bit surprised when Selphie asked to go shopping. That was a little weird, but he just shrugged. "Hm... Okay. I said I'd tag along today, so I guess it's to wherever you want to go, Selphie," Sora replied, the thought of being able to look for some better-fitting clothes coming to him after he said it. Apparently, she didn't notice his increase in height between the last time he saw her and now. "Okay, lead the way then!"

Selphie eyes lit up as she smiled as Sora agreed to tag along. "It'll be fun, you can look for something as well," Selphie suggested as she began to head towards the area with a most of the shops. The island wasn't that big but if you had lived here your entire life you knew exactly where everything was. And..sometimes knew just about everyone, though Selphie and the others usually just stuck to their part of the woods (and their friends, though a new face was welcomed!).
"Sooo...Sora! What've you been up to recently?" she asked as they walked down the street.

"You know, the same old stuff. Chores, practicing, adventures, hanging out with Riku," Sora answered, walking with his hands behind his head, taking in the familiar sights of his small home town with a light smile on his face. It sure was a great day out today; the sun was shining brightly, and there was a cool breeze blowing to top it off. There were a couple of clouds, but nothing threatening to rain, which was just great.
Come to think of it, he hadn't really spent any time hanging around with just Selphie except for that one time on the island. Well, it'd be a learning experience if nothing else-- Who knew, maybe they'd become even better friends? Then he'd have two best friends to hang out with! "Oh, and I think I got taller... How about you, Selphie??

"Say! How's Riku these days? Haven't seen that guy lately," Selphie asked as she strolled besides Sora as they walked down the street. Selphie was about to say something else when Sora asked how she was and said casually that he thought he had grown taller. Selphie looked at Sora and noticed his clothes seemed to fit a little tighter, height wise, and he did seem taller than her, even though he was originally taller than her granted he was a little bit older than her.
"Oh hay! I think you did!" she exclaimed, she didn't know how she hadn't realized it earlier. It seemed everyone else was growing taller than her, but she supposed guy's grew faster or something. They, that is the guys she hung out with, had always seemed to be taller than the young girl. None the less, Selphie didn't much care for differences between her and her friends. She continued to judge Sora's height, however something caught her eye and she grabbed Sora's arm and ran down the street.
What she had seen was one of the few toy stores they had around the islands. Not that she much cared for toys; maybe she'd get a new jump-rope though. Or find something that wasn't exactly a toy, something she could use. A detective kit!?

"Riku's good, too. I saw him the other day," Sora replied, grinning a bit nervously and rubbing the back of his head when she noted his increase in height. The next thing he knew, he was yanked down the street to in front of a toy store by the excited younger girl. She was about as energetic as he was, even if she was shorter than him now (Before they'd been about the same height if it weren't for Sora's hair). He didn't really expect to find anything too interesting, though; he'd much rather run and play imagination games than play with toys.
"Wanna go in? They might have some interesting stuff. Maybe a new jump rope you could use," Sora suggested, still smiling with his usual look of enjoyment on. Not exactly the way he usually spent his days, but maybe this'd be fun, too. Who knew; maybe they'd even run into Riku?

Selphie stared through the window the toy shop. She then looked over at Sora, her eyes big and bright. Full of eagerness to go inside. "My jump-rope is getting pretty old.." she stated as she sprinted-walked towards the door, however she was ladylike enough to hold the door and wait for Sora. "I don't usually play with toys though.." she mused. The only real toy she had really played with, if it could be called a toy, was her jump rope. She would rather go out and have fun with friends then play with toys inside and stuff. Though, she was sure she played with them when she was a baby, perhaps even a toddler. But, she shouldn't be playing with them now, she was thirteen after all. "Suppose we could see what they have.

Sora just shrugged. He actually didn't really know what all the toy store would have; he'd only gone a few times, and he didn't remember that too well. His parents knew he liked playing outside; Sora couldn't sit still for long with something like action figures, just because that was the way he was. That was his justification; he was himself, and no one else. "Thanks! Heh, I bet my dad or Riku would make a joke about us wandering around town. 'Love birds' or 'still just a kid' or something like that."
Of course, Sora didn't think of Selphie in that kind of way. Or anyone, really; he was beyond the stage of 'girls are icky cooties bleck', but he just didn't feel special about anybody. Well, one could consider his devotion to his friends 'special', but as far as Sora was concerned, you were supposed to do that. And come to think of it... his friendship with Selphie wasn't as strong as that of his other friends. It made him feel kind of bad; like he'd been leaving her out (unintentionally, of course) from the rest of them. "I almost forgot to ask! How have you been, Selphie? I haven't seen you in a while, either; not since you lost your jump rope that time a couple of weeks ago," He said, entering the store and putting his hands behind his head, waiting for her to come in too. But... wasn't the guy supposed to open the door? His mom was like that, too... maybe it was one of those things that wasn't necessarily one way. Or maybe he was thinking too hard.
He put his mind back on track, disguising his lapse into oblivion with a friendly grin. He was going to be better friends with Selphie by the day was over; that was Sora's goal. He had to make up for not being as close to her as he was to his other friends, after all; it just wouldn't be fair to neglect one of his friendships and focus on the others. His expression didn't show much of it, but he was kind of upset on the inside about not noticing such sooner. He didn't even ask her how she'd been when she asked him!

Selphie entered the toy store after Sora, it wasn't all that busy and one of the cashier/workers smiled in their direction. She joined Sora's side and looked at him for a moment. Lovebirds? Selph tilted her head some and then a slight blush formed upon her cheeks, but before Sora could notice she looked away to look at toys and such that were near the door. Though, there was nothing of really any interest to the young girl. What made Sora think of such a comment? She then had to look back at Sora as he asked her how she was. "Eeh, same old really. Hanging with the guys, going to the island, chores, whatnot." she said as her eyes began to wander around the store again as she walked towards an isle. Grabbing Sora's lower arm she guided him and herself towards the isle. "Also! Thanks for helping me find my jumprope, I'd probably have had to buy a new one.." she added as she looked towards Sora and gave him a smile.
However, his first comment remained in her mind. Did he consider her more than a friend? She had never really thought about it. They weren't that close either. She just thought it, weird though so she put it to the back of her mind. They were still kids after all, even if they were 13 and 14. Plus, she didn't much know about it, nor really cared. As long as she had fun with Sora, Wakka and the others, that's what mattered to her. "Have you hung out with Wakka or Tidus at all?" she asked.

"Heyy, I need that arm, Selphie!" Sora joked, again not expecting his female friend to grab his arm and yank (It was more a tug, but he hadn't been expecting it) him in the direction she was going. He didn't really mind, though; they played a lot rougher than that all the time. Weird enough, almost as soon as she'd come in, she turned her attention to a box full of toy cars. That didn't really make much sense, but before he had any chance to think about it, she was speaking to him again. "Sure, it was no problem. I was happy to help; that's what friends are for, right?"
That was his general outlook on friends. Help each other because they needed help, not because of anything else. Or that was the simplistic way he saw it; Sora didn't care for the more complex versions he heard people at school complaining about sometimes. He'd much rather have his friendships where they were now (With the exception of improving the one with Selphie) than try to sort through that complicated mess. Again, Sora was drawn out of his thoughts by a question from Selphie, and he shook his head no.
"I haven't seen Tidus or Wakka in a while. I wonder what they've been up to?" Sora commented, thinking about it for a second. Wakka might have been watching his little brother, and Tidus... Who knew? Grounded, helping Wakka, doing chores; couldn't tell. With Sora, he was usually either at the island or at his home getting ready for bed, eating breakfast lunch or dinner, or doing some chores. Then, his mind wandered back to her randomly taking interest in toy cars for a second. What was that about? Maybe she saw something flashy or cool looking that caught her eye that he hadn't noticed. Yeah, that was it; Selphie was just as action-oriented as the rest of his friends, she probably just saw something cool looking was all. Nothing to worry about.

[avatar]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v654/KatsumiX/Selphie/smile.png[/avatar]The young girl didn't have the attention span to really pay attention to Sora's joke. As he said that it was no problem that he had helped her find her jump rope she gave him another cutesy smile. Friends were useful for a bunch of things, cheering you up, helping you find things, just having general fun and more fun! Selphie's eyes browsed around the isle that she had blindly landed into, she seemed to be looking but her eyes just browsed and moved on, not really interested. Toys didn't fascine her that much. Sometimes collectibles did, and mostly things (er, toys) that you built. Building things was fun, it required thinking. She reached the end of the isle and turned to the right, just wandering around.
"I saw Wakka and Tidus a few days ago," she said, "Actually..to be truthful. I kind of only asked you cause Tidus and Wakka were busy." she turned towards him, thinking her last comment was kind of rude of her. "Not that I didn't want to hang out with you! Of course I would! Its just..--" she didn't really know what else to say and felt she was rambling. The blonde haired girl couldn't help but blush a light pink color, though it was hardly noticeable.
Selph began to wander up another isle, though not much caught her attention. "Uh, hey, Sora! Did you want to go anywhere? I just thought of going shoppin' cause I hadn't been to this part of town recently, So just let me know if you want to go anywhere, kay?" she offered, looking back at him giving him a smile as she tilted her head some. Her hair bouncing some as she did. And actually she didn't really see anything that caught her eye here.

"Geeze, thanks a lot!" Sora replied, laughing. He was kidding, of course; he was the same way sometimes in the way that he usually thought of his best friend first, even if it was just because he had to go through them in order so he didn't count someone twice or some other scatterbrained mistake. Something did catch his eye that he hadn't seen before. A board with wheels, with a sign next to it describing what it was. Apparently, it was new... and it looked like fun to ride something like that through town.
"Hey, Selphie, look at this thing," Sora called out, picking one up and looking at it closely. It was a dark blue color with some kind of black design with a bunch of confusing lines and black wheels underneath. Otherwise, it was a normal-looking skateboard with things like wings on the side. "I bet it'd be fun to ride through town on something like this, huh? Oh, and I don't really have anywhere I want to go; you pick."

[avatar]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v654/KatsumiX/Selphie/smile.png[/avatar]Selphie at first couldn't tell if Sora was mad at her; suppose she was only being truthful, but after his comment he laughed and Selphie untensed a little. She hated her friends being mad at her, though that rarely ever happened. (Sometimes it was the other way around.)
The young dirty blond looked at the board with wheels that Sora had spotted. Sure, it would be fun to ride around on something like that. But, Selphie's balance wasn't all that great, sometimes she even tripped over the ground right in front of her. She could be pretty clumsly at times, though graceful at the same time since she was a lady after all. "Looks pretty neat...though, I probably couldn't ride it. You know me and my balance.." she said, speculating that it probably required a lot of balance to ride it. "Of course though, you and the guys could probably ride it better than me.." she said, giving a small exasperated smile.
"Wanna head to the beach or the island?" she asked. Then since she was sort of scatterbrained she added, "Oh! I almost forgot I wanted to look for something for my mom, her birthdays coming up.." she said, trying to figure out where to go to get her mom something. All she could think of was a small jewelry store in the middle of town, it was a few blocks from the toy store but not really far, far.
