Momentary flashes of other planets, other worlds went through the young girl's mind at the researcher's comment. She had considered the possibility but had never really thought about it before. Her thoughts were cut short when Mr. Jein asked for Ellie to do another task. She listened as to what to do, lens; spin it clockwise for thirty seconds. As he said go she moved quickly to the lens and began to spin as she did she counted to thirty in her head.
One Mississippi....two Mississippi...
All the way to thirty. Then being careful she moved to the panel that was on the opposite side of Albert Jein and began to reverse the switches.

As Ellie flipped the last switch, there was a MASSIVE explosion, and clouds of black smoke began pouring out of the telescope.
As this happened, Albert began shouting things like "blast!" and other child-friendly curses. "This always happens on the 4th calibration! Ms. Ellie, I'll need you to climb back up the telescope, and find the gears that have inevitably blasted out of the machinery. Once you, bring them to me. Quickly now!"
[You know, if you people told me of the parameters of the missions, THIS CRAP WOULDN'T HAPPEN! I'm talking to you, Prythian!]

Ellie was a bit startled by the blast but kept her cool, she looked over at the scientist as he began to curse; though they were child-friendly. Ellie had no time to wonder, or ask what had caused the explosion for she was given orders and was quick to act. She went up the ladder she had climbed earlier and looked for the gears that he had mentioned. She found some gears and climbed back down the ladder, she then handed them to Albert Jein.

((Restart!
I have no idea what to do here, so pick one of the OTHER Jobs you could've done, and we'll restart as if we'd started from there.))

Ellie stared at the board on Market Street that had a bunch of different job ads on them as well as business cards and a bunch of other papers. She searched the board for some jobs. She managed to find a few and began to decide upon one which she would enjoy doing. They all didn't seem that interesting, but she would have to go with the one titled Rats. She sure didn't want to take someone's trash out at the moment so she would have to make do with trying to get rid of the rat infestation someone had.
She went to the location of where the rat infestation was, of which the paper on the board had directed her towards.

The directions on the job notice led Ellie to one of the cheaper residential areas of the town. The particular house for the job was ramshackle. The bricks of the walls of the one-story building were cracked and the windows covered in dust. The only thing that wasn't decrepit was the door; well built and sturdy, made of a light wood.
On the door was a large metal knocker. There was, of course, no sign of a doorbell or anything like that. All Ellie would have to do to accept the job was walk up the steps and knock on the imposing door.

Ellie stared at the ramshackle of a place for awhile, then looked at the directions again. Yup! Right place, no wonder they had rats. She shrugged lightly to herself, no use judging people. She bet it was a nice old lady, with a warm heart for rats but simply wanted them out of her place. She quickly walked up the steps, looking for any sort of way to get them to know that she was here. No doorbell, but there was a knocker. She reached up and pulled it then set it down, twice she did that. The result was two knocking sounds. She stood patiently at the door, stepping a few steps back so that they could open it.

The door was opened, and, as Ellie had predicted, it was an old lady, face wrinkled with white hair and wearing old fashioned clothes. "Oh!" One of her hands flew to her mouth as he spotted Ellie, who she hadn't seen before. She peered forwards shakily. You could almost hear her bones creaking. "And who might you be?" The lady inquired. "How can I help a sweet young girl like yourself?"

"Actually..Ms, it is what I can do for you." Ellie said, and smiled at her. The old lady reminded her of her old Grams, who sadly had passed away, though the lady seemed older. "I'm here about the ad on the board on Market," she began to explain. "About getting rid of some pests, rats to be exact. Though! I would never, in all my years, ever hurt the poor things..." She smiled again and waited for the lady to say if she was the one who had posted the ad.

"Oh, my, I was wondering who would answer my request..." The lady said, opening the door wider. "Come in, child, come in! The dears have taken up refuge in my cellar, and are eating all the supplies I have down there! I'm afraid they just can't get enough to eat, but I can't afford to let them eat my things! But come have a glass of milk and some freshly-baked cookies first." The old lady walked back into the house, leaving Ellie to follow her and close the door.

Cookies? Oh, how did thee old lady know her weakness? Her Grams always used to make warm freshly-baked chocolate chip cookies for her, always with milk and always ready when she got home. Ellie walked in, smiling at the woman. She followed the lady, but noticed she left the door open so she gently shut it and followed the woman. She hadn't noticed at first but the smell of cookies had been wafting through the house and out the door. What a wondrous smell! (It made a small hole in her heart, the place where Grams had been. She missed her so!) "Oh!" she exclaimed, "Why thank you." she said politely, already tasting the lovely gooey-ness of the soft, warm, chocolate cookies.
"..how many rats, per say, are down in your cellar, Ms?" she asked, wanting to take in her objective and way of approach before she actually got down there. Straight to business, though with a little sidetrack of home-made cookies. "Is there a way out through the cellar?" she asked.

"Oh, I have no idea, deary." The old lady replied, leading Ellie to a table. She took some cookies off of a cooling rack and onto a plate, placing it in one of the places on the table. She went to a cupboard and got out a single glass, filling it with milk from the refrigerator. As she placed the glass on the table by the cookies, she continued. "From the sounds of things, there are around five or so of them down there. They probably got lost and entered it through the window down there, though how to get them back out through there I'm not sure."

Ellie stood near the table the lady had lead her to, she took two cookies and then drank some milk after the lady had placed the glass on the table. "Hmm.." Ellie thought as she ate some cookies. She swallowed and said, "Well, I'll get them out somehow.." She finished the cookies and smiled.
"Homemade cookies remind me of my Grams, rest her soul.." she said, "Well, if you could show me to the cellar I'll get them rats out for you, Ms."

"It's right down here, dearie." The old lady led her to a nearby doorway, opening it with a creak. A rickety wooden stairway led down into the room, which was obviously only lit by the open window which the rats had gotten into in the first place.
Ellie would be able to see many boxes, jars, and other things stacked down there against the walls precariously. Obviously, the rats had many hiding places down there. "Good luck, child. And remember, don't hurt them!"
