Today was going to be a big day, Tidus knew this. For one, they were heading out to Dark Isle around noon. They were also meeting up for some morning fun. Their prior adventure to Dark Isle really helped the teens to better understand their parents. For Tidus, it reminded him that he still had a ways to go before he caught up with his old man. Though despite putting up that front, he really was happy to see that his dad had good adventures. It was hard to think of him like such in his current state, though whether that was due to the father/son rivalry or just the feets he'd achieved, one would never know.
For now at least, they were on the usual spot. Sora and Riku hadn't shown up for today.
"Oh man, I need to get warmed up for later today. Got any warm up drills Captain?"

"You want to be too tired to row out there at all today?" Wakka asked the energetic youth. The redhead shook his head and produced his favourite sports ball. He tossed it up and down in one hand. "Well, there is something I've been needing to practice. Got your staff today?"

"Don't worry, I've got enough energy to go their twice, so whatcha got in mind?"

"I hope you're counting the trip back or we're going to be in trouble later," Wakka said with a laugh. Putting his ball under his right arm the teen walked out into the wider sandy beach where they would have some room to maneuver.
"I'll throw the ball and you try to hit it back like we do in a duel, all right?" Wakka asked, though it wasn't a question as much as an explanation. He got roughly 15 feet from the younger boy and then threw it hard with his right arm.

[avatar]http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h92/NinjaKokoro/DreamSequence/14muioj.gif[/avatar]"Sounds like a plan," he grasped his staff eager to get to it.
"Ready when you are." he'd add as Wakka got into the appopriate position. His first toss was pretty strong, but this is what Tidus expected from his best friend. Winding up a bit, Tidus focused on putting his strength into reflecting that ball.
"Heeyah!" The ball met his staff, flying back towards Wakka.

Tidus knocked the ball back and it came flying a little off-course. Probably due to the difference in strength between them. Wakka held his arms out to the side to catch it and had to take one step back as he did so to keep his balance.
"This might not work after all," Wakka said, sounding a little disappointed.

"Whatcha have in mind, exactly...?"
Tidus questioned as Wakka seemed to be a bit down with the return. He kept his staff to his right side as he awaited the boy's response.

"I was having a duel with Sora the other day," Wakka explained as he got back into a more ready position, loosening up his joints more. "He's gotten pretty strong, you know? When he was able to knock back my throws I wasn't able to catch them very well and it hurt. Guess he's serious abotu catching up to Riku."

[avatar]http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h92/NinjaKokoro/DreamSequence/14muioj.gif[/avatar]"Woah no way, guess I've gotta keep up my strength training."
Tidus had a grin plastered to his face. He could feel the workouts making him stronger, he needed just a bit more muscle, then he'd be good to go. He was beginning to contemplate challenging Sora to a match also, just to gauge where he's at. In a way, the brunette was a rival in terms of catching up to Riku. So if he was getting serious, then it was time for Tidus' A-game.
"Come On!" Tidus said getting into battle position.

Wakka smiled. He had a feeling commenting on Sora's growth would light a fire in Tidus. Wakka was too different and Riku was too far advanced, but he and Sora were closer in age and not too different. Even if Sora didn't play sports as enthusiastically as these two did, Tidus wouldn't like the idea of falling behind.
"All right, try to return this one as hard as you can!" Wakka said, taking much more prepared win-up than he would normally get to use in a real duel and throwing it directly at the boy.

There was no time to follow up with an additional reply. Instead Tidus focused his efforts on the power of his return. Wakka's wind up was rather big, something Tidus wouldn't let happen in a duel, thus utilizing his prowress as a Blunt Weapon Trainee, he grasped his staff in both hands, aiming to return the ball in the same direction it came.
"How about that?"

Tidus did his best, but Wakka wasn't expecting the return to sting as much as Sora's had. By making the throw stronger than his dueling attacks he made it harder to return, after all. Throwing stronger first was just a way to make Tidus feel more rhythm when they became easier later.
"Here it comes again!" Wakka said, going a little faster this time.

[avatar]http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h92/NinjaKokoro/DreamSequence/14muioj.gif[/avatar]Tidus was ready for this one, finally getting into some sort of rythmn. Utilizing his Flip Attack, he'd flip forward, slamming the ball with his staff-sword, combining aspects of his blunt weapon trainee and some momentum.
"One more time!" Tidus declared in anticipation of another strike.

Wakka actually stumbled back a little from catching that one. He knew that Tidus' Flip Attack wasn't something he could do too often without rest. 'Guess it worked better than I thought.'
Still, he did catch it, and quickly moved in several paces to return it from just ten feet away, a more common distance in their duels.

[avatar]http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h92/NinjaKokoro/DreamSequence/14muioj.gif[/avatar]When he closed the gap to return the ball at ten feet, Tidus lunged forward, placing momentum and his upper body capacity to work. His swing utilizing a forward slash motion in order to return the ball once more. Though it seemed like Wakka wanted to up the pace, making this a faster game of "catch".
"Bring it on!"
