It snaked through the jungle's deep green cover, nearly invisible. It made little sound, it bore little presence. The eyes of a predator cat leered through the opening between some leaves.
Prey. It was big. An ape of some kind. Its hair was weird but that didn't matter. The target was chosen. It was time to hunt.

Marcus walked through the jungle, silently and swiftly. He was looking for some food, but hadn't even found a trail yet. Odd. It didn't take long for him to realize he was being watched by something. In the blink of an eye, his revolver was out on pointed at some near by bushes. Normally he'd play with predators that thought he would be their next meal, but his hunger from not have any food for 24 hours had him in a less than playful mood.

The prey had spotted him! But it was far too distant to reach him yet for sure. Apes only had so much reach and little speed. He would have to strike now, before it tried to run!
It pounced!
... and landed face-first into the ground five feet from the bushes.
"Raw... mraw!" Skit said as the little jaguar cub picked itself up and shook its head. by which of course it meant "No, wait... I need a do-over!"

One of Marcus' eyebrows raised a bit at the antics of the cub before him. Then, with focuses and predatory eyes, he scanned the jungle from where the cub had come from, searching for any movement from "bigger cats". It wasn't uncommon to have a cub wander off on its own, but there was still a chance that the cubs mother was nearby keeping watch. Marcus holstered his gun and give the small cub and amused look. He crouched near it, giving it a friendly smile and then said in its native tongue "Hello there little one. Whats a cub doing way out here?"

(Sorry, this laptop I`m borrowing is stuck in Spanish characters or something so I can`t do coding anymore. Just wanted to explain why my post format has changed.)
`Hey, don`t too relaxed there, prey!`the cub said, walking around in a couple of small circles to clear his head. `I`ll be right after you in a second. I just need a moment... to get my bearings. That`s all.`
Skit was a bit embarrassed, sure, but he could deal. This was a matter of pride, after all! All that mattered was the final outcome.

Marcus couldn't help but chuckle a bit to himself. He had to admit, this little cub was adorable. He's never admit but he had a soft spot when it came to small cute animals. He mush preferred them to the big violent animals that's he usually found himself up against. A sobering thought came from the more primal part of his mind, that this cub wouldn't be small and cute forever. One day it would be big and it might try to make it its prey again. Only then it would be a real threat. He pushed that thought out of his mind as he smiled down at the small thing. "Well you just take you time. Mind if i ask the name of the one hunting me?" he said good natured-ly.

`Hah! That would be a real privilege,`said the obviously proud child. It stood facing the would-be ape and raised its nose into the air snobbishly. `Very well. Feel blessed to know that you will be the first prey hunted down by Skit, future King of the Jungle!`

"King, huh?" Marcus couldn't help but smile even more then he already was. "That's a pretty lofty goal. Your gonna need to be pretty strong to beat Tarzan." It was no secret that Tarzan was the strongest in the jungle, though many of the alpha-predators didn't like to admit it, especially the jungle cats. He didn't know the details, but apparently Tarzan had killed Sabor, the previous king of the jungle, not too long ago. "well future king of the Jungle Skit, its a pleasure to meet you. I'm Marcus."He said as he stuck out his hand as if for a handshake.

Skit opened his eyes to see the ape person reaching out toward him. Thinking the creature was attempting to defend itself by grabbing him the young jaguar hopped backward a few feet from the gesture. He landed on all fours, keeping his front low in a ready-to-pounce position.
"Hah! You won't catch me so easily!" the, apparent, future monarch claimed with a prideful smile on his muzzle. "You won't stop me so easily, prey!"

Marcus couldn't help but like this little cub. A playful smirk found its way onto his face as he said "Well before I can be your prey, you have have to catch me first." Then, from his crouched position, he did a small back-flip onto one hand. He then pushed off and landed back in the crouch position farther away. The playful grin still on his face, he beckoned Skit closer. "Catch me if you can."

"No, no no," the cub insisted, shaking his head at the strange ape. "You are my prey because I am hunting you. When I catch you, then you will be my captured prey. Honestly, I should not have to work with such amateurs."
The young jaguar had taken to speaking in a more formal tone now(As formal as a cat's grows can get, at least). Apparently he was determined to keep a regal air about himself now.
"Very well!" Skit finally continued. "Prepare thyself!"
And with that the little cub began to run after Marcus full-sprint. Not exactly fast compared to a fully-grown jungle cat, of course, but quick nonetheless.

Marcus had to admit the the cub was quick, but not quick enough. Just before the Skit was about to reach him, Marcus jumped high into the air, grabbing on to some vined that were hanging some 20 feet overhead. He shifted so that he was hanging upside down, and turned to face the cub. "Your pretty fast for one so small, but not fast enough. Now lets see if you can get me up here."

"Your insolence will not be forgotten!" Skit yelled up at the tree-hanger, a clear sound of annoyance now present in his calls. The tiny jaguar took to the trunk of the tree and attempted to hook into it with his little claws.
It worked... a little. He didn't seem to be actually climbing up at all.

Marcus chucked at the cub's predicament. "Having some trouble there?" He was debating if he should help the cat or let him get down on his own when he heard some rustling in the the bushes nearby. He turned his head to see if he could spot what made the noise, the look in his eyes was that of an animal ready to pounce. Upon finding nothing and hearing no more movement, he slowly turned back to Skit.
A smile spread across his face when he saw that the cub was still stuck. He dropped back to the ground and walked over to were the cat was stuck. He hadn't made it that far off the ground. "Need any help?" Marcus asked, trying to hold back his laughter.

"No." Skit said indignantly, though he was clearly putting all his available strength into not slipping off. The cub's claws weren't exactly long yet. After looking away from his would-be prey snobbishly Skit eventually let go and fell back to the jungle floor before turning to face Marcus again. "That wasn't fair. I asked for a do-over. It's not a proper hunt if you can already see me before we begin!"
