"Woah! Hey! be careful!" Skit said in a very child-like away as he skittered left and right to avoid any debris from the log. He seemed impressed and examined the pieces by nudging them with his paws.

Marcus turned to Skit with a sheepish grin on his face and said "Sorry, but see? Its all about timing and accuracy." He then seemed to consider something before saying" Maybe you would do better with more of a challenge." He then turned back to Skit with a smile and said "OK its decided, you'll target will be me. You'll keep trying to hit me and I'll keep trying to avoid you. If you hit me I'll give you some fish as a reward." He added that last part thinking that maybe a reward would motive the cub a bit more.

"A reward? You mean you'll give me something as an offering so I'll spare you once you're caught!" the little cat said without giving an inch of ego to the human. Still, he seemed to be agreeing in his own way.
"Very well, Marcus. I shall allow you to assist me in my royal training for now in exchange for sparing your life."

Marcus chuckled a bit at skits wording "Right, well anyway...." he then assumed a sort of battle stance. "Lets begin." he said and gestured for skit to come at him.

"En guarde!" Skit said before leaping directly at Marcus paws-first. The cub took no other offensive strategy than to go directly at him.

Marcus simply sidestepped the young cub, making skit go right past him. With a green he said "Gonna need to do a bit better than that."

Skit's answer to the challenge to "doing a bit better" was to... do exactly the same thing as before. The cub readied himself and then just pounced right at Marcus

Marcus simply side-stepped the young cub again. " Here's a few tips for when it comes to combat, Skit. Always try to uses different moves to try and trick your opponent. Never overestimate yourself or underestimate your opponent. Use your environment to your advantage. Now try and use what i just said against me." He said as he waited for Skit to come at him again.

Skit waited for the strange ape to finish talking, holding a ready-to-pounce position low to the ground as he did so. When Marcus was done Skit immediately... did the exact same forward lunge again.

Marcus sighed as he stepped to the side to avoid skit's attack. "You didn't hear a word I said did you?" He said while looking at Skit with a blank look. 'Oh well' he thought. 'He'll get it eventually....i hope.'

Skit landed on the ground a little behind where Marcus had been, then slowly turned around until he was facing the human again. Just like before the jaguar cub sized him up, readied himself, then pounced in his direction. perhaps his aim was just to tire his prey out in a battle of endurance?

Marcus sighed but this time he didn't try to step out of the way. While Skit was in mid-air, Marcus reached out and grabbed the cub under his front legs, just holding him at arm's length. He smiled and said "If this move didn't work the first time, then I don't think it's going to work the fifth time."

Marcus reached out and caught... nothing! Surprisingly Skit's jump was nowhere near as powerful a leap as he'd been throwing at the human before and the cub actually fell out of the air much earlier, landing not far from the human's feet. His eyes flashed Got you! and instead of the slow get-ready-to-pounce-again actions that the cub had used before Skit instead bounded up from his landing immediately into a new pounce, this time aiming to crash into his prey's legs at nearly point-blank range.

Marcus was so surprises by the cub's change of pace that he didn't have time to dodge Skit's attack. He felt the small claws go through his pants and peirce his skin, and though Marcus had been the victim of much worse attacks, even he had to admit it hurt. He smiled down at the cub, wincing a bit when he saw the claws in his leg, reminding him of the slight pain. "Well Skit it looks like you got me, which means i owe you a reward don't I."

Skit clung to the human's leg, wrapping his front and back legs around it and holding there. The little would-be king looked up with self-satisfaction at his captured prey.
"Haha! That is correct! That is what you get for falling for the old bait-and-switch!" the jaguar said proudly before releasing his grip and falling back to the jungle floor on all fours.
'Definitely not going to tell him that I messed up my jump and it was an accident...'
