On one of the outlying islands in the island chain...
An old man has just washed up on a beach with the wreckage of his fishing boat, looking half-drowned. His tanned, leathery skin and calloused hands speak of his occupation as one of the nearby fisherman. In one hand is clenched a flier, written on a piece of water-stained leather.
The old man lay on the beach, unconscious.

Selphie had been playing on the beach, for the most part she seemed alone. She was digging for seashells in the sand trying to find the most beautifulest one that she could. She was thinking of bringing it home to her mother. Perhaps she could put it on a string and give it to her mom to wear as a necklace. She wandered deeper and deeper down the coast of the beach, walking along where the water met the sand. She wore her signature yellow dress, that mind you seemed to be a little too short for her. (She had a few troubles of guys looking up her skirt, but that was not much of a trouble since she had Tidus and Wakka to stick up for her!)
She squatted down after she found a shell submerged in the sand, a wave crashed onto the sand around her. Getting her hands and feet wet. She managed to dig it up and washed it in the next wave that had settled upon the beach and then drove back into the sea. She raised the shell to the sky and squinted some as the sun got into her face. She looked to the side of the shell and saw a man lying on the beach. Half in the water. She dropped the shell and ran over to him, splashing in the water as she did. "Sir, Sir!" She called in her squeaking voice. She reached him and knelt down besides him. He was an old man. She couldn't tell if he was alive or dead. She must go get Wakka! Hopefully he would be okay...she wanted to stay by his side but she needed to get help.
She ran off to go find Wakka and Tidus who were else where on the beach. "WAKKA, TIDUS!" She yelled, which seemed to be on the top of her lungs. Finding seashells would have to wait.

"Come on, Tidus. You find anything yet?" Wakka asked in an amused manner. Exploring one fo the smaller islands around their home, that was the objective on today's agenda. He stood now at the bottom of a fairly tall tree they had happened upon and that he had boosted Tidus up into. Selphie of course wasn't all that interested in the exploring part of the visit and had wnadered off a bit farther down the beach to look for seashells. The boys were left to take care of charting the enw land and Wakka happily waited for Tiuds to report if he could see any interesting caves or other locations from the higher vantage point. Of course, he also had to stay on alert to catch the younger kid if he fell... but that wasn't too much for a worry when it came to the little acrobat.
Wakka's hopes for a nice, peaceful day were shattered once Selphie's calling voice reached his ears.
"Tidus, get back down here!" he would call before moving to meet up with the girl. The dirty blond would be right behind him, no doubt. Thye got the situation from Selphie and then quickly set out.
"Go on ahead! Get him out of the water and check his breathing!" the teen instructed Tidus. He was a faster runner than either Selphie or himself. Wakka would hustle as hard as he could to get there right after Tidus did though.
(DSA is still having some comp trouble last I checked so there might be a delay)

"Just another adventure on the other side..." "Just give me five more seconds Wakka, I've got this!" The dirty blond called out to his buddy below. He waved his free arm, whislt his other shielded his eyes. This helped him to scan the island better. He was taking note of the strange new world, so to speak. It required concentration, diligence, and skill---All of which was dashed when Selphie yelled for them at the top of her lungs. Tidus would have mumbled if the follow-up wasn't so serious. He didn't need Wakka to tell him twice! He'd proceed to maneuver his way down that tree in no time flat. With Wakka's instruction to get the unconscious man out of the water and check for breathing, Tidus would nod his head. He took off across the beach as quick as those legs would let him. His Basic Parkour allowed him a fair bit of maneuveribility to traverse the sandy terrain. Kneeling down beside the unconscious body, his left leg gently pressed into the water (since it was cut short it made sensr to do such). His arms wrapped under the armpits of the elder male.
It was just easier to get an armlock and pull him to the sandy shores. Once he was far enough from the water (thankfully he had washed up close to shore), Tidus would then kneel down once more. His hears positioned over the nose/mouth area first. His eyes then looking to see if there was any movement from his chest. Now this step was a bit out of order but the adrenaline rush had caused him to do such. Thus depending on the state of the elder male's breathing, he'd remember the cpr rules and do a quick check over of the location he dragged the male to, as well as anything on him that might be a clue. Getting some oxygen into the man would be priority and so Tidus would proceed with the proper steps to doing cpr as necessary (one couldn 't be a good swimmer/live on these islands without knowing them). Besides, he wouldn't have to do this alone. Selphie and Wakka would get to his side shortly after.

The old man, luckily, didn't need Tidus to do CPR.
He choked and spluttered as soon as he'd been moved, coughing up water, and sitting up. His eyes blearily opened, peered about him, and in a sudden panic he looked closely around him. He got up and ran back to the water, taking note of the wreckage on the shore and blatantly ignoring the children that had saved him.
"...Ye damned fish!" He yelled out, shaking his fist at the water. "Ye take me pole, me boat... Why didn't ye take me life with it, eh? Old man Yektaw too tough fer ye to handle, 's that it?! When I get back out there, ye're going ta be comin' back with me fer that reward whether ye like it or not!"

Selphie's heart had almost sank when she had seen the old man unconscious, thinking that he was dead. But, as the two boys dragged him out of the water he seemed to regain consciousness. She watched, bewildered, as he went towards the water and began to shout out to the ocean. For a moment he seemed deranged, but from what he was yelling..it seemed to have to do with a fish.
"Sir..." Selphie said, being the polite young woman, (most of the time) that she was. She seemed to try to get his attention. She wanted to say something like they had just saved him and he didn't seem one ounce grateful. She went closer to him, "...What seems to be the trouble, Sir?" she asked, peering up at him with helpful eyes.

By the time Selphie and Wakka arrived at the scene Tidus had successfully gotten the man out of the waves and up and about. Wakka had the same reaction to the adult's reaction to being revived. He spared her and Tidus a curious glance each before looking back to the one they'd found and approaching him. The teen put one hand on the man's back and took his left arm in another, trying to be gentle.
"Woah there! You should be lying down," he reasoned, sounding as laid back as usual in attempt to calm the guy down. "You say you were in a shipwreck?"
Wakka attempted to guide the man back onto the beach so he could rest but his attempt may not have been successful given the way this person was acting.

All in a day's work
It was a good thing Tidus was quick on his feet, getting the old man to shore and all. He didn't need to do CPR which surprised him. It was like the old man sprung to consciousness. Yet for all his efforts (with minor help from Wakka and Selphie or so he concluded), the old man didn't even utter a line of gratitude. Yet before Tidus could think to say "hey", the man began to speak. Tidus tilted his head, confusion clearly expressed. Wakka and Selphie had gotten over to the two and asked some reasonable questions.
Tidus was going to go for broke, so to speak.
"You lost your rod and your boat...to a fish Mr...Yektaw? What kind of fish was able to do this to you?"
The first part expressed concern and a bit of surprise, the last part was a mix of awe and doubt. After all, no fish could be as infamous as that...could they? He looked to Wakka and Selphie after he asked, before focusing his attention on the old man. Wakka had propped him up a bit thankfully.

The old man finally turned back to the three just in time to bend to his knees, coughing again. "It's that damned Konger!" He wheezed out. "The scourge o' th' sea! A reward of 800 munny to th' man who catches it! But I'll get ye, ye divil!" He hacked and coughed again, dropping the piece of leather he'd been holding onto so tightly. It unfolded, slightly crumpled, to reveal a bad inking of a large fish, with large teeth and spines along the top of it.
The munny reward was written underneath. "Even a fourth o' that reward would be enough to replace what I lost!" Fisherman Yektaw spluttered. "An' my harpoon wounded th' beast! It's mine, I tell ye!"

Finally the old man seemed to be aware of them, but turned around coughing. Selphie couldn't help but feel sorry for the ol' man. He seemed to have lost everything, and from what Selphie gathered..to a fish. The wrinkled that the man had been holding, that Selphie hadn't noticed at first dropped to the ground. Near her feet. She bent down and peered at it, finally she picked it up reading it. She saw the beast, the ugly fish. "...eeeww." she whispered.
Then turned to the man, "...Sir, perhaps we could help you?" she offered, though the fish seemed grotesque. But, since she felt sorry for the ol' man she felt obliged to help him.
A fourth of that money to get back what he lost? That...left the other third to split between the three of them, if the old man agreed to their help.

"It's all right, man. You're alive. It could have been a lot worse than that, ya?" Wakka said, trying to get the fisherman to look on the bright side of things. His own parents weren't as lucky as this guy had been. He took at look at the picture. Wakka had been living here his entire life and never even heard of a fish like that. It looked more like a monster.
'There are fish like that out to sea, eh?' he thought to himself, once again awed by the depth of the ocean.
"She right," Wakka said after Selphie had spoken. "Let us help you get back to the island. You can recover there."
He had entirely missed the girl's intention.

Tidus nodded along with everyone's statements. If they could get the old guy back to recover, maybe then...
"...after you recover, we can help you go after it. Splitting the reward four ways sounds okay."
He grinned before pumping his fist. Tidus could sense, taste, feel, SEE the adventure before him. Destiny had shinned upon the youths. Today they would be Fisherman! Of course he completely forget about the exploring they were going to do today. Bigger and better fish had emerged. All they needed to do was reel him in, if they could.

The old man eyes them warily. "I can't send ye kids after a monster like that!" He objected. "My boat was smashed to pieces in three passes of th' thing! Ye'd need several boats in case it did th' same thing to ye, and me harpoon is stuck in that thing's back! I'm useless 'till I get me a new harpoon. No, ye three better give up on th' Konger." He shook his head stubbornly. "Proof to me that ye have what it takes to take on th' Konger!"

"Show ya?" Selphie said, staring at the man. They weren't just kids, they were Destiny Island kids! There was a difference. She stared at the man, like she was going to blow. "Hmph." she huffed, there was no need to show him. They were capable of capturing that thing...right?
Turning towards Wakka she said whispered, "...Let's capture it even if he won't let us.."
"Sir...we should really talk about this in town, get you some help.." Selphie said. The man didn't seem to well.

Oh boy. Tidus and Selphie had gotten into their heads to finish the job. Didn't they see what had happened to a professional fisherman with years of experience? Unfortunately they had that won't give up until it's done look in their eyes. That meant he couldn't stop them.
And... it was kind of exciting. The impulsiveness of youth certainly did win out over logic sometimes. Wakka knew this well.
"Looks like I need to come keep you safe since you won't stay out of trouble again," Wakka said, giving up on trying to get the old man to sit down and take it easy. He turned to Tidus and pointed his thumb over to some of the nearby rocks. They made for a potentially dangerous playground.
"Show him your stuff," he said to the younger boy.
