"Ah, you look ready to rush off," Wakka said with his usual accent, shrugging to emphasize his position of being taken along for the ride. He rushed to his boat and grabbed his small fishing net. They each had one and sometimes ran around the shallows of their playground island swiping up small fish. That should work on this island too right? "Tidus, let's hurry and grab a few before Mr. Yektaw gets impatient, ya?"
Expecting Tidus to take the other side of the beach Wakka ran up and down a short ways on the path they had come, this time through the water and swimming out a bit when necessary. After just a few minutes of this he would rush back to his own boat which had been prepared for launch and boarded.
"This time maybe you should take the lead, Selphie. We'll go in a line and I'll take up the rear."
[QM can decide how many(If any) fish we caught]

"Roger!"
Tidus acknowledged, his nerves almost had him paralyzed, but the suggestion to catch some fish got him back on track. Yeah, he had this one. Grasping his net from his boat, he covered the opposite side. Shallow water fishing like this was easy. Besides it became a mini-game for Tidus, the other day Wakka had caught more fish than him for their lunch. Well, this time Tidus would be ontop of his game!
He kept low to the ground, keeping to relatively shallow water. At best ankle high, he didn't want to get his pants too wet. No, he'd save that for when they went out fishing. One strike at that fish, if he could avoid it's poisonous garb, then there'd be no need to waste his antidote. Moments later he'd return back, not wanting to test the Fisherman's patience. His eyes glanced to Wakka's net, looking to see if he was beat.

Together, they got three fish; Wakka one, Tidus two.
Old man Yektaw followed Selphie, grumbling about the wasted time of gathering fish that weren't needed. Actually, he just seemed to be grumbling for the sake of it. He glanced at Selphie when he reached the boat, waiting for her to get in. "Ladies first." He muttered, almost as if embarrassed at that value, crossing his arms as he waiting on both her and the boys.

Selphie hopped into her body, it rocked slightly in the shallow waters but went silent as she sat down in the front of the boat, giving the old man enough room. From what she saw the boys had gathered they had gotten three fish. It seemed to be enough. They needed to come up with a plan. If they were..er to survive this thing, with all limbs in tact. Wakka, Tidus!" she half shrieked. "On the way let's think of a plan..."

Wakka shook his head but smiled as he and Tidus put their catches together to one small net, which Wakka would take on his boat. "This only means we're tied." he said playfully to the younger teen before getting over to his own vessel. Tidus would know what he meant.
As he launched and started to paddle out from the beach Wakka looked over to Selhpie and nodded.
"I'd like that too. Is there anything new you'd like to try out on the Konger this time, Mr. yektaw?"

"Tell me that again when I'm MVF for this trip."
Tidus countered as he pumped his fist in the air. Yeah, out-catching Wakka this time around was a boost to his ego. Though he still had much more to work on, if he wanted to surpass Riku. As for Selphie, she was thinking ahead. They needed a plan and Tidus didn't really have one. Wakka's question was more sensible. Tidus nodded his head in agreement, all while boarding his own boat.
"Somehow, if we can recover the harpoon...we might get another strike." Tidus mentioned as he grabbed his oar. though it was rather tricky, if they had sharp weapons to actually use this wouldn't be an issue. However they didn't and so they had to take a gambit.

"Aye." Yektaw said, after getting into the boat and staring off into the distance. "Iffn ye can trick th' beast, you may get it to harm itself on th' sharp edges of th' reef... but tis dangerous to even think about such a thing." He growled deep in his throat. "Took me years, an' several boats to understand just where th' walls o' th' maze lie... Far safer to try an' get back me harpoon, iffn th' Konger hasn't gotten rid o' it already."

Selphie started paddling out as soon as Mr.Yektaw got in. It was a lot harder to row with extra weight but she managed, with extra enthusiasm. She moved into the head of the pack, of which took a lot of extra strength to remain in front. "But, you do know where the walls of the reef are, don't cha?" Selphie asked as she continued to paddle.
"Which way to the reef? to the Kronger's lair?" Yeah, she just had to use that word. Lair. They were headed towards the lair of the beast.

Wakka hoped that the old fisherman would be able to guide them well, or they were just asking for trouble. He knew he would be responsible if anyone got hurt, but he couldn't help but use that as motivation to not let them get hurt rather than the more adult choice of not letting them go at all. Wakka still had some growing up to do.
'If only Riku were here,' the redhead thought as he drifted for a little so that Tidus would have a chance to get ahead of him and in line behind Selhie. He would follow behind them after that and watch their backs. 'I'd definitely feel a lot better about this.'
He didn't mean to insult the prize-seeking Tidus and the skills he had shown off. Those skills were the real deal. It was just fate that in the same generation a talent like him was born an even greater talent like Riku was too. The silver-haired teen might not have been able to wrangle this Konger single handed or anything like that, but his presence would certainly be a mark in their favour.

Rowling along the sides of Selphie and Yektaw, Tidus remained mostly focusing on keeping pace, not wanting to exhert too much energy. Once more the gang had the right questions to ask, though Tidus was surprised his speculation proved to be true. Getting the spear back, if possible would mean a chance to strike at it again. The alternative was to get it to harm itself along the reef. What if there was a way to do both?
Perhaps that would be where the bait came into play. Though Tidus was surprised such a plan came to fruitition in his mind, it was the type of risky play that he enjoyed seeing.
"I guess we'll have to try to do both. Lure it to harm itself along the reef, use that as a distraction to get the spear and finish it."
He said it with some enthusiasm all the same.

"Turn starboard, missy." The old fisherman explained, pointing the way. "Ye'll keep going this way until ye see two rocks raising up outta th' water. Once ye enter 'tween those two rocks... ye need to listen to me instructions more careful than iffn ye momma was telling ye how to wash a babe, lest ye knock a hole in yer boat." He snorted.
"Twill take 5 minutes good rowing."

Selphie listened to the old man's directions, turning towards where he had pointed and continued rowing. Five minutes to get there? That was a lot of rowing, her arm muscles would just have to do overtime. She led the group, still wishing that Tidus or Wakka had taken the lead. It wasn't often she led the others and at the moment it didn't feel that great. Heading straight towards a beastly fish? No thanks.

"Remember to listen to Mr. Yektaw, Selphie!" Wakka called out from the back once he had seen them take a true course and begun following along. "We're all counting on you!"
Indeed they were. They needed the fisherman's experience to guide them safely, so he had to be in the lead boat. The only one he would get decent maneuvering room of his own in, though, was Selphie's. Wakka was sorry to put in here in the position of danger, but it was only for now. If she had to jump ship to Tidus' or Wakka's vessel then she could do it when needed.

"Don't worry Selphie, we've got this!" Tidus yelled out from behind. He was pulling up the rear along with Wakka. Though his position was more so in the middle, leaving Wakka at the very back. He heard the old fisherman's words, silently nodding in response. It seemed the old man had a plan. He just wanted to make sure he, as well as his friends, were on the same wavelength. This really was quite the adventure for them, he could only imagine what he'd tell the other DI kids after it was over. "Tidus, Ace Fisherman!" he thought, smiling somewhat. "It has a good ring to it." though for the Ace Athlete, anything involving 'Ace' probably had a good ring to it.

Selphie continued to paddle forward, mind you it was getting easier to paddle but it was still hard, because she was actually getting used to it. Huh..so they were counting on her? Great. She thought to herself, Best not let them down! She continued to paddle and then about give or take five minutes later she saw the two rocks raising out of the water. She paddled between them then waited for Mr. Yektaw's instructions, keeping her ears open, she waited slowing the boat down a bit.
