Selphie moved in line behind Tidus's boat, watching to make sure he and his boat were safe. "Want me to release the fish?" Selphie asked, she would be sure to release them just when or a moment before the Kronger got too close to them. She looked towards Old man Yektaw as he told them to brace themselves for the attack. Selphie was beginning to wonder if the Kronger would ram into their boats and possibly flip them over, which would be a bad, a very bad situation. She must get the fish out before he turned their boats over and they were fish themselves! "Someone hand me the fish!..or throw them out there," she said, a bit fearful. She gulped, wondering how big the Kronger actually was. She was invisioning it to be the size of a whale..with how big the ripples were in the water as the thing navigated through the maze.

"Stay focused, Selphie," Wakka said as he stood and tossed his small net of 3 fish behind him toward the younger girl. "Save the bait for when we're in trouble."
'Actually we already be in trouble. It would have been better if we had more time to get ready,' Wakka thought. Regardless, he had to prepare himself. A small Sports Ball was produced, which Wakka always kept on his person. The redhead held it between his tow hands firmly as his trained eyes scoured the water's surface. He would take careful Aim now, while he had the chance.
'Don't know what state the Konger is in, but we might have a good chance.'

Selphie had asked a good question admittedly, though Wakka seemed to have it covered. As for Tidus, he scaled the reef wall and propped himself atop it. He needed this angle if he was to leep atop the Konger's back. He kept his own fish bait with him, along with his trusty modified staff. It must have looked weird for Tidus to be standing atop the reef walls (the portion sticking out of the water). However, his parkour was just what they'd need in this instance.
His own boat would act as a dummy, though he needed to make sure it didn't incur too much damage. Hence the fish, with Konger coming in from the left, he paid special note to see if that spear was present. If yes, he'd position himself to release his bait first whilst mounting Konger's back via the spear end. Recalling what he heard from the Konger's description, he'd have to force some sort of jump platform if he wanted to remove the spear and not be poisoned. He could only hope his sandals were thick enough!

Unfortunately for Tidus, the reef walls were treacherously sharp. Sharp enough to cut him rather badly as he attempted to climb the reef walls. The blood seeping into the water would likely be far greater bait than the fish they had collected earlier, if the rumors about the Konger were true... ...and here it was now. It rose out of the water, the shaft of the harpoon rising up a split second before the hideous body lifted itself out of the water. It gave out a roar, and charged at the wounded Tidus, who would doubtlessly find his attempt to climb the reef futile, leaving him bleeding in the water with a fish the size of one of their rowboats. Selphie was probably the first one to see the end of the harpoon rising out of the water before the huge fish did. She pointed in its direction, shouting "There it is! Watch out, Tidus!" her voice was a bit scared that they might actually get hurt. And she was even more worried for Tidus since he was the one in the water and who was the one who was going to mount the monstrosity.
A cold shiver went up the dirty blond's spine as she saw the Kronger. She could only think of one word..--Hideous. She feared for Tidus. She just stared at the Kronger, unable to lift her eyes from its ugly, scaley body.

'Well how about that?' Wakka thought as he followed the signals of the sharp-eyed Selphie. Sure enough the Konger had rose from the depths and made their strong-swimming friend its first priority. True, they were the intruders here, but these kids weren't always as polite as they ought to be. This would be one example of that as they taught their unfriendly host a lesson.
Wakka could see that Tidus had tried to climb the reef and paid for it. The boy might not be in shape to immediately react to the monster fish's presence. Luckily for him his team captain was. Wakka almost hadn't dared to dream that it would stick up above the Konger itself so well, but there it was: the harpoon. He couldn't pull it out from here but he could always try something crazy.
Using his long experience in sports Wakka timed his throw as best he could, allowing the Konger to get as close as possible but not trying to give too much chance of reaching Tidus. Having focused previously Wakka launched his Sports Ball with its Aim-enhanced accuracy. He didn't exactly have a lot of time to learn the Konger's movements considering it was probably a fast creature, but this was all he could do now. The ball flew not toward the fish but the shaft that stuck out above it.
If Wakka could jar the harpoon and cause the blade within the beast to jerk and cut deeper it could likely harm the fish more than simply hitting it with his ball would have. The pain might also cause it to jerk and miss Tidus, perhaps crash into the reef itself. This was his best chance at actually helping, at least.
'Come on Tidus, get it together!' Wakka thought after the weapon left his fingertips and flew through the air. Whether he was successful or not the younger athlete still needed to think and act fast.

[hp=7/10] Tidus was in trouble and that was putting it lightly. The cut from the reef, occuring as he tried to get a hand's grip, meant a scrape across the top side of his palm. The sting of pain caused Tidus to swim back, his parkour kicking into gear now. He had to keep the monstrosity distracted, thus he'd release a fish back into the water where his blood lingered. The remaining blood would be sucked on by his lips as he backpeddled not towards his own boat but towards Wakka. He'd raise his free arm (left) out of the water for Wakka to grab hold of.
"I need a boost Wakka, if I can get atop the Kronger's back, we might be able to retrieve the spear for Mr. Yektaw to use!"
Despite injury, Tidus was focused on the objective, the right hoisting up and then effecting toss from Wakka would be just what they needed.

The throw was aimed properly, hitting the spear and causing it to vibrate. The Konger stopped short and roared, thrashing back and forth in the water in plain agony. The waves from its thrashing caused the boats to begin drifting apart. Selphie's was dangerously close to where one of the reefs was.
Smelling the blood in the water, the Konger angrily charged forth, snapping up the fish in a single bite. It flailed about again, apparently seeking what it had connected with the sudden pain in its back.

Selphie watched from the sidelines helplessly, there wasn't much she could do but cheer her fellow comrades and friends on. She threw a fist into the air as Wakka's sports ball hit the spear. She then noticed that her boat was drifting towards the reef some. Oops! She took her paddle and started to direct her boat away from the reef, closer to Wakka's boat. Since there was an unusual amount of weight in her boat; being there two people, she had to paddle a little harder than usual. Specially with the waves that the Kronger was making as he thrashed back and forth in the water.

"You're crazy if you think getting on top of it is a good idea," Wakka said with a genuine laugh as he caught his Sports Ball returning to him from its bounce. The redhead reached down and helped Tidus get into the small vessel carefully as it was rocked by the Konger's waves. "Shred up your feet or legs and you won't be able to swim back. Even if you got the harpoon out it wouldn't get where it needs to be, ya?"
Wakka eyes quickly narrowed back in on the form of their mark. It wasn't chasing them yet. Wakka's projectile attack must have confused it for a moment, which meant they could prepare. Wakka was aware of Selphie rowing back into her original position.
"You'll need momentum to clear it completely. Get your staff ready and wait for it to come at us and I'll give you the signal," the 'coach' of the team began to explain, a certain risky play already forming in his mind. As long as the spear was sticking up out of the water they'd be able to clearly see the Konger coming at their boats form any direction but below. "Selphie, get your jump rope ready, we might need it. Mr. Yektaw hold on to her. We'll need all your weight to keep things steady."
Wakka threw his weapon again, this time just in front of his little ship. It slapped the water hard and then fell back into his hands, the equivalent of a whistle to get the Konger's attention. His eyes narrowed on it once more and he began to Aim.

[avatar]http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h92/NinjaKokoro/DreamSequence/14muioj.gif[/avatar]Back in a boat, albeit not his own, Tidus listened to the advice of his "coach". Seemed like Wakka had a good plan in mind, thus Tidus put his full trust in him, giving a nod. He'd withdraw his staff and hold it out ready to go.

The Konger immediately rushed forward, submerged except for the spear handle. As it neared the area where Wakka had hit, it surged upwards, ramming HARD into Wakka's boat and making it rock and shoot backwards. If Wakka was lucky, he wouldn't get tossed into the water from the boat. Meanwhile, the Konger thrashed again, raising up more waves. With only one person in it, Tidus's boat was fine, but Selphie's boat was getting WAY too close to the reef, even closer than it had been before. Konger [hp=26/52]

Selphie listened to Wakka as it seemed he had an idea. She reached into her bag and pulled out her handy, trusty jump-rope that was almost the equivalent of a whip. She watched as Wakka slapped the water with his ball and then she saw the handle of the spear that was emerged from the water moving towards them. Watching helplessly the Kronger slammed into Wakka's boat, where both Wakka and Tidus were. The boat rocked back and forth and it seemed that it was about to almost flip over! A scared look crossed the young female's face as she held onto her jump rope. She then noticed that with the waves she was drifting further towards the reef. She grabbed the paddle, jump rope still in her hand and started to paddle but with the Kronger thrashing about it was hard to paddle. "Hold on Mr. Yektaw," Selphie said, paddling with all her might. Yet, once she got over one wave another would push her back again.

Seeing the approaching harpoon as grim a sight as that of a shark's dorsal fin Wakka steeled himself carefully. It was coming right for him just as anticipated after he had baited it. Tidus had taken the dangerous route before but now it was up to him to take responsibility as the oldest one here and be their "bait".
Rather than being tossed out of it Wakka actually jumped with all his might up over the side of the boat as the Konger smashed it on its way past. As he fell toward the water in the fish's wake two hands held his Sports Ball firmly overhead before using all of his strength to launch a Power Shot. Lucky he had kept his Aim from before focused on the harpoon and the mighty fish wasn't zooming away so much as causing a disturbance in the water now. His ball was fairly wide so Wakka aimed it as low as he could to strike it where it was moving around the least and give their prey another unpleasant jolt.
That would be ideal, but even if he missed crashing into the water where the Konger had just swam through would likely catch its attention toward him even without the further provocation. The red head put all his swimming skill into moving himself just a few more precious centimeters into the correct position past the far end of Tidus' boat. If it decided to come straight at him then the harpoon would pass by close enough for their counter-attack.
"Up to bat!" Wakka sputtered to Tidus as his head emerged from below the water as he moved into said position. If the Konger dove before coming after him instead of charging straight across the water then he would need to use the extra time it would take the beast to quickly pull himself up into the tiny vessel alongside his staff-wielding team mate and out of harm's direct path.
He didn't have time to take in Selphie's current predicament, currently being the "worm" on the "fish hook" of his little plan.

Tidus too saw that approaching harpoon, it was practically the sight of terror in these waters. Still he did his best to keep the boat from rocking too much further but Wakka had other ideas. He Jumped over the side of his boat, whilst Tidus kept a firm grip in order to prevent the boat from tipping over any further. Taking note of Wakka's second attempt to strike at the harpoon, it occured to Tidus that they might actually be able to inflict enough damage to stop the beast outright. However, that might be a slow and losing battle. He looked over to Selphie whom was struggling and decided to call out quick:
"Hang in there Selphie! Mr. Yektaw , if we can pull out your spear are you prepared to take a second shot? It might be our only option to take Konger out before things get messy..." Tidus voiced trailed off but kept his eye to the water. Wakka was heading for Tidus' boat, which was unoccupied and spared from the wrath currently. It should be easy for Wakka to get up into his boat at that point.
Though when Wakka mentioned he was up to bat, he paddled a bit to reposition Wakka's boat. Noticing the spear, he guauged the distance and with Paddle in one hand and his trusty staff in the other, he'd attempt to launch two strikes at that blasted harpoon if the Konger gave Wakka further chase. Considering it had just rammed the boat it should have been within reach for both the long paddle and Tidus' staff. Of course he'd also be striking said harpoon with the power of a Blunt Weapon Trainee but there was a bit more to his tactic than that.
His goal was to attempt to pincer the harpoon after the two strikes, trying to "pull" it out of the Konger and hopefully into his reach. It'd be difficult but the tugging alone could potentially add to the damage if he was successful. Either way, he hoped the bait tactic would be enough so that Wakka could try and get another go at the Konger. It was better for them to play "tag" so Selphie could ease her boat into position---
"Selphie if we can form a triangle to keep the Konger in sight, you might be able to hit it with your skipping rope and help get the Spear back."
Tidus...was at least good at thinking on the fly.
OOC: Sorry for some confusion there, so I had to make my post clear that up. Bilby/Kats, if you'd like to edit your posts a bit before our QM posts that'd be for the best.
